LOOOOOOOOL, please go on everyone, it's really funny :D :D :D

I like specially the
"oh no, that giant 32 inch monitor has always been there"

Now, thinkin back, i think I did it already ONCE, when I bought the GoPro.
- "oh, is that a new cam?"
- "oh no, don't remember? Bought that years ago" <just came newly out, GoProHero3>

Be careful with font colours - not everyone is using the black Elite forum style and I for one can barely read what you've typed...

didn't knew that! Thnx for the info! Now the other way around, if it can help, just click-drag the mouse over it, should be more readable now (just a quick workaround).

:D

Luckily I upgraded my PC two years ago, and it's still quite ok. I let my wife know about the 200 € (£165) I've spent on a game, and she seemed to take it calmly.

In June I joked about buying a HOTAS for myself as a birthday present (as some of my joystick's buttons don't work properly anymore), and to my surprise she didn't deny that, although she took interest in the budget.

And she wasn't too unhappy about me exceeding the budget slightly (100%).

So, I've been as honest as I can.

the British sense of humour is strangely unique and self-deprecating.

I will second that.

I forget that this is an international forum with people from around the globe and so a lot of my posts are "british" which obviously rubs up people the wrong way - case in point : received a neg rep for a year old post last week because it was discovered & taken the wrong way.

Honestly ... I wonder why I bother posting here sometimes ;)

(Oh - and FWIW - my wife told me about ED and forced us to back it ! How's that for a mrs :D)

I'm 56 years old. I could retire if I wanted to but instead I've cut my hours down to 4 a day. I'm happily divorced. The kids are both grown up and doing their own things. There is just me and my cat overlord. I'm as happy as a wotsit in doodah. :D

that's the risk of posting things ^^ got some neg rep also, but just because of (for sure) not the same level sense of humor or simply understanding :D

Well, it's the internet, all different :D

I started off not telling her anything other than I was selected to play the beta. Didn't want her to know that I paid over $185 AUD for a game. She wouldn't have understood. Anyway I made the fatal mistake if publishing a thread on Facebook about ED. One of my friends said how nice it looked but would spend £100 on it. The wife saw this and let's just say wasn't very happy about it. Lessen learnt!

have a heart attack

LOL, gets you any new toys you want.

I admit the pain was actually kinda painful but I have new toys, X55, new big desk, the game itself, a CH fighterstick (laptop!! Was going to sell it back when I got the X55 but it moved to the place I stay at while working away), and a rubber stamp on 3 monitors and the stupidly expensive stand for them, however I am holding off on the monitors as I might need to update the HD 5970 to something new and that lot would be about £1200!!

LOL @ "selected"

I have bought three things, all with knowledge from my wife:
1) The game itself. I backed Kickstarter for an amount that I have the game and all upcoming updates (Extension pass). No unneeded expenses here. I do not buy other games (except maybe once every two months some cheap App), but E-D I would have bought anyway, Kickstart or Retail...
2) Our PC was already pretty up to date (Core i7, 16GB, SSD drive, 2 screens with GraphOnBoard, since she uses it to work from home), so I only needed a graphic card. By coincidence, we won a robotic vacuum cleaner somewhere, so that went on (an Austrian version of) Craigslist, and I could buy a nice graphic card (RX270)... No extra expenses.
3) And today my X52 should arrive. No objections from my wife.

So altogether maybe EUR 150,- expenses. And she can watch the TV without me interrupting for the next several months... :)

Edit: The security guy just called me while I was typing this that a package was delivered for me :D

Am I the only person in the world who has a joint account and joint credits cards? Marriage (or long term relationships) are a partnership I really hate the idea of "my money, your money" just seems very odd.

We have separate cards and accounts and I like it that way. We split our bills, and are quite free so spend our leftovers as we please. And when either of us needs money, the other will "lend". What I don't want, is saving own money for something and then find out it's spent on clothes, food or something equally useless.
