Return of the ramming cops ?

I don't know if it is related, but docking computer AI are really dumb right now.
Last time i have used (in 2.4) the Dock computer crashed in station entrance 3 times...

I have been seing the "NPC security ships ram me trying to scan me" thing again, too. Usually well after I've engaged my docking computer. Definitely makes me nervous when I can hear the sound of their shields going offline....

It happen to me around the Rhea system, got a fine for reckless flying :D but it was the police who actually was flying into my ship.

No video I'm afraid.

I noticed the cops do come closer while scanning, but I've had no collisions yet. I haven't flown big ships in 2.4, Python was biggest.

Cops indeed did a close fly by, but certainly not with collision course.

Might be that truster update MoM did have unbalanced things a little for AI flying.

Since 2.4 dropped, I've been repeatedly rammed by station cops trying to scan me when leaving a station in my Cutter. This hasn't happened to me in ages. Is anyone else seeing this as well ?

Probably buzzing you because your speeding.
Dont fix FD.

Go at the limit and they leave you be.

Might be meant as joke but yes, it is definitely more pronounced when I speed (400 m/s in spitting distance from station). Might be still nice for FD to take a look so MoM can maybe throw a little tweak there. Better AI flying around is good for everyone.

Definitely a significant uptick in the sound of a screaming Viper tearing towards you around the dock.... followed by a clang and fine :)

Yesterday I was landing on a planetary base and saw something fall from the sky. I thought, "Wait a minute, the patch notes say falling skimmers have been fixed!" At closer examination I realized it was a security Viper that had flown straight down into the ground, dust cloud and all (don't ask me how it survived). So I guess we've replaced falling skimmers with lead-foot Viper pilots. At least Vipers don't have EMP defenses.

No video footage I'm afraid but I have been buzzed and rammed, I presume by the cops but didn't stop to check. Doing about 200 as approaching the station in a Cutter so not sure if this is a speeding thing but could be.

I noticed that sometimes a police viper will cross in front of the slot before I make it in. Maybe it's those that ram people. When they get close to a ship on their collision course, they will start the scan. So maybe it's instead of cops ramming when scanning, cops scanning while ramming.

In my experience its not the security ships bumping into me for a scan. Its PowerPlay NPC's. Maybe it has something to do with their starting location as to if they end up moving fast enough to smack into you?

I was lucky to avoid any accidents until now, but I had some very close encounters with some of the security vessels that scan you when leaving the station.

I fly an Anaconda and most of the time after leaving the station in a straight line towards the destination.

Security vessels that want to scan me come extremely close and fly very erratic since 2.4, like crossing my path meters away in front of my ship on collision course.

Your speed makes no difference. I jumped into the station at the Aegis CG last night. Because I'm playing in Open, there were hollow squares everywhere, and clearly Commanders in Eagles doing speed checks, I flew the whole way in at >100. Still got hit by security Viper that came at me in a straight line from in front of me. Was so surpised I had to double check it wasn't a player.

Your speed makes no difference.

And it's not just cops. The other day a pirate had to make 5 passes to complete a scan because of erratic flying. He didn't ram me, but I suspect that the ramming is just a side-effect of NPCs being stuck in full-throttle. As someone else mentioned, it seems tied to any NPC trying to do a scan. Perhaps the Thargoids cut the brake lines on all the NPC ships while we were sleeping.

Lost my Cutter to this (?) last night.

DC engaged, flying straight toward mailslot, taking an opportunity to have a play with the camera suite.
Next thing I know a Viper ploughs into the back of my ship, station lasers open up on me and Boom!

Theoretically, I guess it could have been "my fault" if the DC had my speed set at just over 100m/sec (as it sometimes does/did) but, in either case, it seems like the game, itself, was responsible - either due to a reckless DC or a reckless NPC pilot. [sad]
