Alien archaeology and other mysteries: Breaking News, Theories and Tinfoil Hattery

I am going to post this thought in the "Tinfoil" thread, because really it's nothing more...

I've been using the Xeno scanner on human NPC ships. We know the Thargoids were tracing our ship designs. And I recall ages ago that a mysterious Diamondback with the call sign "S6" or somesuch, was seen scanning outside a station (was it Obsidian Orbital?).

Could there be Thargoids in disguise out there? So far my Xeno scanner says no. But I still try it out here and there.

That's a pretty genius idea. I will also try that :)

True, though there does seem to me to be something in the cockpit in the video. Cyclops may be intelligent themselves, and may also be capable of carrying a goid pilot (&/or possibly a human pilot given Out of the Darkness' plot and the fact that they are hoovering up escape pods). There is just insufficient evidence as yet. More sciencing!

Maybe the ship itself is a Thargoid? Either that or they're very small, or that's not a cockpit.

All I can see are the area where the balls (for want of a better word) are on some of the ships. Interesting that the areas appear to be apertures, as that gives further indication that the balls are either deposited or picked up from the underside of the ship.

Are people seeing something else?

4 "hearts", 2 on the left, 2 on the right.

It does look like two regular camera shutters.

Like the top of the alien structure site.

Bob's "eye" with colours inverted and auto levels:

There is some detail in there, but nothing humanoid.

Who's Bob?
I'm guessing this is from the pic you posted in https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...foil-Hattery?p=5997875&viewfull=1#post5997875, & I agree there seems to be no occupant.
could you try the same processing on the video (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HbRjhvK2r5s) at 2mins 27seconds where there does seem to be something in the cockpit?

Anyone here coming to Frontier Expo tomorrow? If so - see you there!

I'll be the one crashing the golden Conda through the roof in a failed attempt to land on the Copper Box arena.

I suddenly imagined my Open/PG CG play experiences... CMDRs boosting through the airlock waay to fast and too close for comfort.

Does the venue have turnstiles? ;D

I'm poor, can't walk - and antisocial. Sooo I'll just settle for the highlights...

Here's the best Thargoid "cockpit" shot I have, for reference. Looks like a couple of thumbprints in there, kinda :)

Thargoid Bob is what some were calling the docile cyclops mimics :)

Here's the video at 2:27 with the colour levels adjusted. Negative on the right.

I think that's the same pair of irises.

I took this a few days ago...

I don't think there's anything in there. Some spiny stuff as you say, but I don't think there's a "pilot".

Do we know for a fact that Cyclopses are piloted? We might be staring straight into its retina, there.

Thanks for the pic! This is Your pic used to expose details.

Monitor settings can make a huge difference on visibility of details.

Is anyone thinking the Oresians are now pressing the advantage as we drove off the Klaxxians with the myccoid vaccine?

Seeing as the Klaxxians entered the bubble from the Lave side I can only assume that these are Oresians and are looking to finish the Klaxxians off or they are looking for them?

Toyed wih the idea, but left it too late. Have fun!

I heard it's class 9 beams around the entrance, plus sniffer 'goids ;):D

I think it's the other way around. I think it was an Oresrian scouting party that vissited us in the Old worlds.
I don't think any player have ever met a Klaxian, in any of the games.

The Mycoid may well be the reason the Oresrians are on the defensive, at the moment.

No, I don't think any of the historic accounts of previous hostilities are now canon.
I suspect FD were going to comply with it, with the threat coming from Bovomit which would make more sense of the logs from the FRift bases, but FD seem to have changed their mind at some stage and gone for Col70 directiion instead.

edit: and as Han_Zen says, we have only met Oresrians to date. I think Klaxians are going to be a much bigger problem...

there is something out there that said the Thargoids entered from the other direction last time, it was a observations thing that got shut down just after making the discovery that they have been here all along and never went away. I will see if I can find it on the forum.

The megaship that was discovered corewards of the bubble was supposed to part of the operation watching for Thargoid activity. Either it's present location isn't related to the mission, or at some point people in power were watching corewards. Also, the logs recovered from the various Rift bases talk about seeing things in witch space, unexplained power cuts, unexplained dropouts from witchspace and various things that sound very much like Thargoid activity. Which would imply Thargoid activity in that direction too.

In Premonition, it mentions those things too and links them directly to Thargoids and also directs attention to the Col70 sector, but other than the events right at the end, the other large thing that happens in Col70 is the massive Wreaken construction site of Fed and Imp capital ships. So... it's all a bit ambiguous.

It feels to me like maybe the Thargoids are only using Col70 as a staging post? Certainly there's absolutely no Thargoid sightings around Col70, most activity and interactions seem to be occurring around Merope. It doesn't seem to gel together currently, I suspect we don't yet have all the info.

Any source of that info? Or just your "thinking"?
