The reason I always leave game again

I keep installing the game again and again because frankly, I love the idea behind it, I really like so much about it, BUT ...... :

- Money making appears to take even longer now, especially with bounty hunting
- Powers to join is a great concept, but man that reward.....so much risk for so little reward. Got blown up by Hotas-Techexperts, because as a mouse and keyboard player I give that up.
- CQC either dead and when not, dominated by HOTAS, TECH ++++++++++++ Superior players that leave keyboard and mouse users zero chance. I had a 2 hour fight on sunday, rare !!!! But the same guy kept winning over and over by a milestone, not fun.
- PVP extremely frustrated as dominated also by HOTAS-TECH ++++++++++ guys. You do not even know what hit you. There should be a way of knowing that an opponent has advanced flight control systems or so in-game so no HOTAS-TECH ++++++++++ users can avoid pvp. I would myself get a Joystick but after the days of the ForceFeedback Sidewinder (last game I played was Comanche Gold with it), I stopped using Joysticks because of tediously long and frustrating hours trying to make them work. Now from reading forums it apparently needs a guy with programming skills to set one up? No more plug and play and calibrate in 20 secs....

I am sad to have to deinstall it again, because I do all I can to continue play it, but I spend now a total of 8 hours and I got nowhere.... Moneywise I made - 400,000 because I mainly donated money for my faction because I want to increase my rank and it clearly is the fastest given the fact that missions take sometimes so long for little reward (kill 12 pirates to get 800k .....).

I had a lot of fun exploring back in 2016, but I did so much of it that I just can't do it now.

Anyway, signing off. I hope I would be able to continue play, I just can't.... You guys that are in the middle of it and totally sucked in by this game, go and have some fun for me !

no thanks. I would but man, I can't be bothered at this age to fiddle around with it until making it finally work. I run low on patience and threw a Ultra-4K Samsung TV out of the window the other day because Pixel-error occured 3 days after warranty ran out. I just don't want to spend all that money, wasting time installing and troubleshooting, would get it if it is plug and play. No time next to work, taking care of dog, taking care of sick wife, I just want to spend my tiny little time that I sometimes I have for myself playing, and not installing, programming, fiddle around with not user friendly devices (from what I saw on so many youtube etc videos).

No need to be a programmer to use a hotas. Just configure the buttons and axis like you'd normally do with controller or steering wheel.
And having a hotas isn't a cure either.. some players are better with mouse and keyboard than I am with hotas and track-ir combined .. well most of them probably

Just keep on practicing and never use your most expensive ship in busy areas where pvp encounters are more likely to happen.

I was under the impression that making money was actually rather easier than in the past, unless you count the extreme examples that were nerfed?

Do you know how? Mining perhaps? I spent 8 hours hunting pirates for a 3% increase in rank as competent. I remember the days I killed pirates more easily, got decent reward, but now, most anomalies are crap debries or something, and even if I rescue downed pods, I get like 3000 or so reward...

If true then you either:

1) make a lot of money
2) You're stupid
3) You're crazy
4) the laziest man on Earth

1. Trading is *all about* money making. It should be a big hint that it's one of the three Elite ranks. Stop looking at bounty hunting as the ideal money-making method.

2. Mouse & keyboard is perfectly fine, take the time in Tutorial modes to go through your control settings and customize things until you are comfortable and happy with everything.

3. CQC... meh. It's a thing, nobody really is sure why.

4. PVP balance in Elite is because of the Engineers. Private groups are more fun, in my eyes, if you want multiplayer, not to mention it usually means there's a discord/teamspeak you can hop on to connect with others more easily.

Mission running is very profitable and a pretty safe endeavor. Unless you bite more than you can chew, and have good rep with several factions, you will always have something lucrative to do. As for HOTAS vs Keyboard, I don't know which is best. Rinzler uses keyboard/mouse and is an excellent FA off pilot.

You would progress a lot better if you quit spending all your time installing and uninstalling. Its easier to make credits than it ever has been exploits aside. If you had been here from the beginning, you would appreciate that a LOT more. And about that hardware thing, you might as well get over that, its the way of the world these days, learn to deal with it. No wonder your so unhappy. I dont even remember how long it took me to make 800K back at the start but it sure was a LOT longer than 8 hours. Why you can go to about any CG, haul 1t or kill one ship and make almost a million without even breaking a sweat. You dont know how good you have it. But since your signing off, it doesnt matter now. Im sad to see you leave like this.

To be honest re-learning my Hotas config is what keeps me from returning after longer breaks. Because strangely i either play ED excursively like a madman for weeks, or i play all other games. Now i am considering the PS4 version...

Setting up a HOTAS is pretty simple... Get ready for players like Rinzler to show you how to setup a keyboard for combat.

A keyboard can be very effective in combat. Most people setup their thrusters as an analog input on the sticks, which works very well for landings. In combat, using a digital key can be more effective because you tend to want to use heavy thrust in one direction.

If true then you either:

1) make a lot of money (I don't, but I am no consumer addict so I can afford things when I need it. Warranty ran out and in Europe that means you are SOL, because you have to wait approx. 2 weeks for people to pick it up, take another 2 weeks to analyze it, charge you around 40 euros for doing so, just to let you know you have to pay a price that is more expensive than getting the newer version of your TV again)... This is Europe man, not the US. TV went out at night and neighbour's even called the cops because they thought some thieves were breaking in.
2) You're stupid (I agree).
3) You're crazy (People have said this before)
4) the laziest man on Earth
(I have a German shepherd I attend to 3 hrs a day, a medically sick wife that I take care for in all aspects, work, and the tiny time I have I go surf (beach), or play games, I literally sleep 6 hours (including weekends), if I would sleep the regular 8 hours I would have zero hobbies basically, because I just take care of everything then but myself. Not lazy here).

lol, as you can see I don't even know how to quote.....best not even thinking of fiddling with HOTAS, I'd be better off trying touching the moon.

Actually that is not true. Most hotas' are plug'n'play. Maybe you have to install a driver, but that's about it, nothing too complicated..
Programing skills (and very little of that) are only needed if you want to automate things like button squences, layers, profiles and so on.

Even then there are plenty of scripts out there and helpful players in case of a problem ;)
