Breathless Decadence That Would Leave A New Commander In Tears

For the multi-billionaires out there (of which I am not one), what is your most shameless waste of credits to date?

For example, whilst waiting for some engineered modules to arrive at a station, I purchased and ‘A’ rated a Clipper.

Flew it around the station a few times.

Landed.

Sold it as is, making no effort to sell the modules individually. Lost millions.

The ‘early-Commander’ version of me would have wept :D

I have started storing modules instead of exchanging them every time, so I guess you could say I'm doing pretty good...

xD

Let's put it this way: I am counting on the latest CG reward to double my current credit balance.

My foolishness is an A + rated Cutter sitting 22,000 light years away going rusty plus a"" Battleship " Python and a host of other ships-- I could cry

I have installed a few $50 million credit modules, and then forgot I had bought and installed them.

A 7A fuel scoop is a pretty expensive thing to forget about, too. Nearly $100 million, IIRC.

Something like 35 ships, all A-rated and fully engineered, just because I like monkeying around with ships and I never sell any of 'em.

Thinking about it, ED is probably quite therapeutic.
It probably creates an outlet for my hoarding tendencies in a virtual world rather than me doing it in real-life (quite so much).
But I digress.

In the game, I fly an AspX, a Corvette and a Cutter.
That's really about it.

Every other ship was bought just so I could "see what I could do with it" and then put into storage afterwards.
And I've never sold a single ship I've ever bought.

I'm currently in the process of trying to mitigate this situation by setting up a "Merope Fleet" which is, basically, my "B-team" of ships.
My Cutter, Corvette, AspX and Python are staying in LHS 20.
My T9, Anaconda, iClipper and a different AspX have already moved to Merope.
Now I'm trying to figure out what other ships can be used for and I'll move some of them to Merope too.

Having ships hauled around. Millions wasted. But, frankly, I can get where I want faster in my AspX, and then, when I get there, I might need my Python or Cutter or...

Sunday I blew 34M on Military Grade Composite for my Python or maybe it was 51M - I forget.

On the other hand I store everything and use the modules like cash in the bank when I'm running short of funds - which - ummm - hasn't been in a while though for some reason I'm kind'a stuck around 150M. It's like it's some kind'a magic money barrier for me.

I have five ships, enough modules for the most used loadouts.

If I need a module to do something out of the ordinary, I will buy it, use it, sell it. Low inventory.

I have no desire to own any more ships, I like the KISS method, "keep it simple, stupid". I've owned quite a few of them, but only keep a handful.

Most extravagant expenditure was reactive armor for the Corvette. My last one was for the 8a power plant. Crazy money.

Every time I was buying an 8B or 8A Fuel Scoop only for a "Quick Engineer trip" kinda made me feel that way :D

PS.
Buying a 2nd Anaconda & 2nd Python as additional Passenger Ships felt similar, although the PAX Python kinda made sense at that time.

Well, I've willingly donated dozens of millions of credits just for the rep gain.

I've also, although unintentionally, bought at least 3 Cutters by accident because I wasn't on the Stored Ships tab and thought I was switching to my own Cutter. I've probably lost close to 100 million from that. (And why ships get a reduced resell cost even though they never made it out of the station, I have no idea)

I went on the Distant Stars Expedition, which was a one way trip (via a neutron star boost). Many commanders did, knowing that we would have to suicide, to return to the bubble. I spent over 2 months, engineering my AspX, to have the prerequisite 56 ly jump range, just for the privilege of a rebuy.

Without a doubt, a 8A class fuel scoop for my Type 9. 289kkCr for that bad boy.

but really it was the $15 Gold Paintjob for the Fer De Lance... Absolutely hideous. I love it.

I A rated my Anaconda though I don't really use it much... Also I am not a combat pilot but I actually own a fully equipped and A rated FDL, also including that 50 million military grade armor, which I almost never fly... But I have it, and it sounds awesome... (my combat rank is still Competent, the other two turn Elite soon...). I also don't sell ships and recently bought another AspX to equip for research only to not go through the hassle of reequipping my explorer Asp. I am also only a billionaire if assets count. Credit balance is at about 500mil. I guess once you reach a certain balance you just buy what you want and need, also to spend game time on equipping ships and actually fly instead of swapping around stuff and so on. Though that can be fun as well. I miss the thrill of earning credits to reach a certain balance in order to buy the next bigger and better ship. That was an awesome feeling back then, which I relived a bit when my son had enough credits to get rid of his Sidewinder yesterday...

I would say donating money to grind rank. But donating that money probably saved me an hour of grinding so I consider that money well spent.

I would say the Courier and Clipper I A-Rated, flew around for a day or two, and then stored before heading into the black with my trusty Asp-X. But I will get back into those ships at some point so I won't go there either.

I'll say that of all the money I ever spent and regretted it was on the Python. While it was a good grinding ship, I hated every minute flying it. I was glad to sell it when I was done grinding. When it's time to grind rank again for the Cutter, which will be a long long time, I may buy a Python again. Until then, I am content to fly my AspX/Imperial Clipper.

I've purchased ships on a whim just to sell them half an hour later, when the toy isn't fun anymore. Also, just like many I donate to factions I want to rank up with all the time. I even do those 1m donations if I see them.
I'm no billionaire, but I have plenty not to worry about some pocket change.

decadence, let me think....

i don't read the prices anymore...

sure, if i buy a new one of the big 3, i check my balance. but commodities? repair? outfitting?
since my slots have modules i only pay the difference to what's fitted, i mean who really looks at the prices?

one post said a 7A scoop costs 100M, i didn't even know. i mean who knows such things?
