Would you pay someone to play the game for you?

If FD were to make available professional Elite: Dangerous players you could hire to rank grind and all that other stuff, would you use that service? Like, if you could hire a guy to earn you 2 billion credits while you're at work, or rank up with the feds so you could get that sweet Corvette, would that be something you'd be interested in? It would be like an Uber.

You mean; would we be willing to pay money to have the end game stuff handed to us, yeah? Would you like people to handle expeditions, travel, bgs, etc? What about when you get your Vette'? Does that money include classes and tutorials on PvE and PvP? Would you also like someone to do that for you too?

At what point would you actually play Elite? If you have everything, what is there too do? Why buy a game to pay others to play it for you?

I wouldn't pay money to skip the experiences I had as a new pilot. Heck, I wouldn't trade them for anything! The people I've met, the things I've seen, where i've gone... I wouldn't pay someone to find Raxxla for me! I would want to discover that place through my own actions in a ship I've worked for.

So, no, 'Ubers for gaming' are definitely not the way to go. Why would you ever want to exempt yourself from experiencing everything Elite has to offer? Even when I got ganked a long while back, it was a learning experience! Now I know ways to prevent that from happening. Every mission, every grind, every expedition into the black is a chance for you to write your own narrative through your actions. Why deny yourself that?

The only thing I would pay someone for is to rank grind. And honestly I probably couldn't afford it anyways.

heh it would be a total waste for me, i'd be spending the whole time over the guy's shoulder - "no, not that ship doofus, the other one... no don't go there you clot! go to the other station... now throttle back to fifty... and you didn't 'o7' that commander. oh look, just give me the bloody stick. eesh, just go make the coffee, can you do that?"

The thread reminds me of this:

Probably would be much easier and more cost effective for FD to put in an "I win" button. Press it and it brings you to the end credits which says you are a triple Elite.

The way you mentioned would give FDev a major headache with all these "service users" crying on the forum about how their new minted Vette got blown out of space by some noob in a Cobra.

" FDev, nerf Cobra. FDev my uber ship has no jump range, nerf distance between stars. FDev nerf HOTAS/K&M/Gamepad cause the other guy who plays more than me is better than me." Etc.

You have to understand that it is against the TOS, but obviously happening. I can imagine that some people can't be bothered with all the grind and just want some shiny toys. Myself I wouldn't bother to use this kind of service, considering that I actually reset my account a few months ago for a fresh start.

Uhm. It's a game. There is no sense in letting others play for you... That sweet Corvette you're talking about, and also the ranks you need for it, is a reward for being in service of the federal navy for a long time... The rank you need to get for that is not a grind to get a nice asset unlock in the game. The idea is that you serve for a long time and then, at some point get that ship. I am talking a year or longer or so. This is not an mmorpg, I guess that's what many people don't get and then complain about "the grind". Stuff in a sim is supposed to be long term, which is the way it should be (and Elite is already not very strict with that), and if you try to cut the time from long term to short term you of course find yourself working in a game. You can do that, just don't blame the game. And if you hire somebody you don't play and pay on top, so what's the point? :D

Could be because /s may not be a familiar term for everyone. Besides, it's not out of the ordinary for people to espouse all sorts of crazy ideas.

Not /s.

Uh... No. Lol

I'd pay someone to clean my house, or do my laundry, or whatever.

But hobbies? No.
It'd be like me playing someone to go to the cinema for me.
