Who thinks ED is on its last legs?

Elite Squadron Wars and Long Hair Physics..... need I say more? There is nothing you can not do in such an environment. You need no other game. ED will have it all.

I've been feeling very.... frustrated.. with Frontier lately due to bugs in 2.4, but I want ED to succeed. I very much love the game when it works properly, and I think there is huge potential that Frontier is beginning to tap.

That said, I do worry about some of the stats I see. ED for consoles has 74 reviews on Amazon (US), and those reviews cover both the PS4 and XBox. The average of those reviews is 3.6 out of 5 stars. NMS has 2123 reviews, albeit the average is 2.7 out of 5 stars. Love it or hate it, it seems that a much larger group of players are passionate about NMS (a small indie title) than they are ED. If we consider AAA games, this gulf is even bigger. For example, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy just released in August, and on the PS4 alone it has hundreds of reviews averaging 4.5 out of 5 stars.

What's sad to me is that the negative reviews for ED often complain about the very features that I love about ED (typically, "It's too hard to fly"). I don't want ED to become another Everspace. The question is, are we niche players strong enough in our numbers (and willingness to buy paint jobs) to support Frontier's ambitions for the future?

I thought I had awoken this morning to a parallel universe:

FD had introduced Legs and we were about to get the final update ..... and I had missed it !

LOts of players decry SC but at least they are BUILDING the game, not selling players a shell on blind faith. Thoughts?
I think if you wanna troll you shouldn't make it so obvious. Like... lol. They got more then 100mil out of players without delivering a game yet, thats as much as selling a shell on blind faith as possible.

Of course FD did that too with kickstarter, but at least theres a actualy game here now.

Problem with posts like these is always - do I care enough to tell the truth about SC basically dying this year or I just let it skip due of it being open troll to desperately trying to drum up support for SC?

Decision I won't make today.

No. Stop trolling and stop saying things you really don't mean.

Phew, i thought this was another legs thread.

Hey OP, If ED is dead for you and your prefer Star Citizen just go and play that instead. :) Everyones a winner. You get what you want and we don't need to hear about it.

Can you please stop telling people to go and play other games Pugwash.
you know - i had a friend you said that to and he did so, and i had to drag him back and now he is loving ED.

you are not doing this community any favor

Did your friend come on a game specific forum and not only bag the game but actively promote another game (well in this case, a series of video clips and some pretty pictures)?

naaah, even I don`t think so

people are naive, have low standards, love licking the stronger`s but (I belong! lol) and get heavily invested in people/ideas like 14 y.o. girls in Justin Bieber or Michael Jackson

just look at Day Z... or that other space game

they`ll buy whatever

Actually, even IF SC ever gets off the ground, it will never be as good as ED regardless of what they do with it. Why?

Because ED is in VR and, as any VR owner in this forum will tell you, being IN your cockpit is an experience that is vastly superior to looking AT your cockpit on a 2D screen, no matter how big or high res the screen may be.

If SC happens at all, it will never have VR. You cannot just 'bolt on' native VR.

Thankfully, ED was built in VR from the ground up, whilst also including a provision for conventional 2D monitor play. ED is still one of the best VR experiences around and in many respects, is the best of all.

(As an aside, the only down side to VR is that once you get used to playing games in VR , you will never want to go back to 2D, thus relegating some older games to the retirement shelf.)

Lol. Seriously? I only suggest this to those that espouse that their prefered games are far superior and that ED is rubbish. In this case my point is that the OP is comparing ED to a non-existent game.

Pass on my regards to your friend. :)

My only post on here OP, and tell you what your not even worth wasting Popcorn money on.

Drivel, Pure unadulterated DRIVEL!!

Dying? It hasn't even been released yet! SC has to at least start living first before it can die! And who knows when that will be, years probably...of course if it crumbles before it ever gets released at all well then that would be a shame. Not completely surprising, but a shame.

Back to the topic though, is Elite dying? No, it is factually doing very well as a game franchise. Certainly it has it's fair share of problems, not the least of which is the fact that a lot of Elite's community is a bit disgruntled as of late. However, next year looks to be very promising as Frontier appears to be changing course to address much of what has many commanders unhappy. So if anything Elite's future looks brighter today than it has in a very long time, and I'm glad for that.

2018 will be an important year for Elite, no doubt. A lot of people are really expecting Frontier to bring it full force with Beyond. That hardly sounds like a game that is "dying"....

"Elite is doomed! DOOMED!"

This will be my only post here. I need to get some popcorn.

No its got a couple more years left in it. Especially now if they do exploration right they'll get players coming back. But how will they make money on it?
