Oh COME ON. Lost 43M Credits to a simple misunderstanding...

Funny thing there...

I needed to buy an Eagle to hop across a couple of systems and collect a ship last week.
I bought it, fitted an A-rated FSD, scanner and fuel-scoop and made the journey.
After I arrived, I flogged all the A-rated modules (auto-replaced with the default parts), flogged it and got back something like Cr27k.

Unless things have changed since I was at school, a loss of 17,000 credits is not 10% of 44,000. [where is it]

Keep the taxi ships. It's cheaper to ship them around than re-buy them.

Z...

"If you fly it you but it" so then we have this very same post but saying "I flew it for accident totally not my fault this game sux.

For real you say you were At Jameson right? That means you are elite or backed the game so I expect you to know the basics for this game like the fact that you lose around 10 percent of your ship's value when you sell it

Look, honestly this was your mistake, yes a preview would be nice but you should know what happens when you sell your ship
-_-.

Try contacting support, if you ask nicely and haven't done anything like this before they MAY refund you your credits they are nice guys so chances are they do but be humble since in the end you are to blame here.

I've lost hundreds of millions buying and selling ships. I've sold anacondas a dozen times, as well as a corvette and several T9s. It's a big hit, but once you have the funds, it's just a number.

Or, they might ask how the heck you got to qualify for Jameson and didn't know how the game works :D

You don't even have to know anything about the game. All you had to do was pay attention to the price of the items you were buying and selling. And it's not even hidden in the fine print.

Read what the game tells you. I see no reason the game has to account for this sort of carelessness.

I wouldn't even notice the whole 44k credits missing..

This have actually put alot of my friends straight off the game.

Most of the information about the things ingame, you find outside of the game. Wich in my eyes is lazy and/or uncaring about the product.
I lose faith in this game each update.

Ive been hyped on the alien stuff since they started feeding us about it.
Know that story of the boy who cried wolf? Thats FD.
So when the aliens finally showed up, i couldnt care less.
And its just reskinned AI? Great.
I actually thought when the Thargs showed up theyd be an actual threat, now i dont mean just in combat 1v1. I mean like a threat to the entire populated bubble or a faction, something really serious that would drag me back. But no, havent played in 2+ months and i dont feel like starting it up one bit.

And the last update, Multi-crew didnt help. Like, did FD even test it?
So my faith in FD actually pulling off a thargoid arrival/assault wasnt even there!!!

I look at it like this.
I build a chair. It cracks and folds when you sit on it. Next im gonna build a house!!!

Siiiiigh.

That would be a great idea, especially if you could choose your build, you could then try out different builds and weapon combinations before you spent cash on them. At that point, you may as well add in a PVP mode like CQC but with standard ships and without the maze.

Somebody else came up with the great idea of allowing us to "assemble" ships in the shipyard to see what they look like, and what modules they take etc. without leaving the game. A sort of coriolis.io in the game. Which I think is a very good idea.

To OP, I suggest wait for a Beta before you do that. In Beta you can try and fly whatever you want without affecting your game, and the costs are very low.

Yup sounds like a good idea to me and a good candidate for the v3.0 QoL uplift

Not so long ago, you could buy a Sidewinder or Cobra, sell all the sellable modules, downgrade everything else, then sell the ship and make a 16k cr profit. I think they fixed that now though.

Theres no excuse for cmdrs that have played long enough to get access to Jamesons Memorial - you know full well how it works.
Try playing with https://coriolis.edcd.io/ before you buy.

Cmdr's like you should have there access to the founders system revoked.

This. Just another case of grinding without understanding the badics, then blaming the game. OP should be kicked from Founders until he learns the basics. :)

Still, a 'virtual testdrive' or something would be nice though.

Ohoho dude XD NEVER buy a ship just to "test" it, you'll never get back what you paid for it.

Yes, I agree, a "kick the tire" mechanic would be most welcome. But right now all you get is a description of base stats plus a hologram, it's really not worth testing the ship.

Found that out myself when I bought a vulture when they first came out.... equipped it.. flew it.... decided I prefered the Asp, sold it.. lost a shedload of credits :(

Happens to us all

Bill

I have suggested before an offline training mission style mode where you can buy and outfit any ship. Would make long haul flights more fun.

You could consider that it cost 43m to correct your misunderstanding. So long as it worked, it is money well spent. :)

EDIT: I tend to test ships and different builds in the betas. That is the only time I've flown an Anaconda, in fact (without a rebuy! [big grin])

In real life you can't buy a private jet, try it out, then turn around and sell it for full price, so why would you think you could in Elite? The game also tells you what price you're going to get for it when you hit the sell button.

Sorry, but you're acting like a petulant teenager. Making a big show of ignoring and calling out specific respondents isn't helping that image.

If you didn't want to be criticized, then don't post on a public forum.
