While I'm a huge Elite fan, I am looking forward to trying Star Citizen 3.0 - anyone else feel the same way?

A lot of people who like ED are looking forward to Star Citizen.

I'm just not convinced CIG will ever get it released. For all the money they have raised, for all the developers they have hired, they don't seem to have done much.

A grand vision and lofty goals are nice to have, but the ultimate aim is to create a game.

Star Citizen is promising as much. Maybe even as much as Elite. But it has yet to deliver

Not exactly new material but interesting anyways (I stumble on it by accident today) - some people streamed Star Citizen and got Derek Smart himself go along with commentary. Its one year old but it could be interesting/fun for ppl who would like to hear from the man himself how did his "crusade" started. Plus hilarious glitches guaranteed and gameplay that is sadly exact the same year after.
And yes I have a "Derek Smart was right" T-shirt hanging somewhere :D

Derek commentary starts around 1:48:00
Best bug I`v seen is starting at 3:02:00, I wonder if it still keeps happening.

If and when they got a game ready and by ready I mean released, not alpha, not beta but a ready live version I will consider it, not one moment before.

Not holding my breath for 3.0 and I definately will not buy into this very insecure project for 3.0 but I will check out gameplay footage for sure in order to gauge how far it has come and if by any chance of a miracle Star Citizen will release maybe I ll even buy it on sale if its good :) Tho the everlasting trench war and small parts of its toxic community have made "good" work in labeling the game for the rest of the world already. The release version has to be incredible both visually and deep in gameplay terms in order to draw anybodies attention away from todays powerhouses or rather competing games in 2 or 3 years (which is a roughly realistic estimate for a SC release). 2014 is long gone and pretty much like CRoberts predicted (also the only thing that ever has come true from him...) the game has turned stale by now.

To be honest there is only one thing that would get me exited to try SC again - a complete overhaul of their flight model. So what if we get one tiny planet to land on when flying your ship feels awful? I could run/drive around the surface I guess.
BTW, will they lock those ground vehicles behind the paywall too? If so all 3.0 will be pointless for me.

Well this is worth me posting it....during his Live Stream today "Star Citizen Talk" @BoredGamer receive more then 500$ from just few of his subscribers........After all seems that TheoryCrafting is well payed Job!!!

500 dollaridos for talking about SC??? I dont even....

Cool, lets hear it! btw is this guy connected to RSI in any way or is he just some random bloke who plays lots of SC?

As I understand apparently he is "Freelancer"....dude who do the live Streams and regular shows about SC.....nothing to do with CIG...but honestly even if he does a lot of TheoryCrafting and DreamTalks he still provide the "community"with more valuable info then CIG itself........

Yep this is what others (people and companies) will take from Star Citizen. The realization that there are enough gullible people with money to burn and not enough common sense to keep it together will throw it after you if you managed to find their "sweet spot". BoredGamer pretty much plays these fools and they celebrate him as one of their own, its funny :)

Well HYPE really, not information because all the "real" information he provides comes directly from CiG. He manages to keep interest high because lets face it his one-man show has a higher productive quality then CiGs own ATV or you-name-it shows. He also sounds more convincing then any of the CiG goofs. Admitting any business connections would probably hurt him, his current success is based on the fact that he sells himself as "a fan just like you being super excited about this great game coming soon". I doubt he ll be crushed when SC goes down the toilet, he ll simply move to the next game he can utilize. I dont mind him leeching the dumb people really, they deserve it ^^

I hear the game-play trailer to the prelude section of the first part of the single player companion game to the main game is delayed until the holiday live stream

Not from the footage i have seen release to date. The sound work is poor, the ships don't seem to move in exciting way, the flight model looks rubbish. I don't like the fact the helmet restricts your vision in cockpit, there is such a thing as a simulation being to real that it takes away from the game. SC also demonstrate why you should never allow people to fly their ship from outside the cockpit it just looks lame, very lame.

This is base on the few bits and pieces of footage that has been release on the internet for the 3.0 build so far.

Oh my....

As I've pointed out before, back in January 2015, Roberts delivered a presentation in which he claimed that not only would the first episode of Squadron 42 be released by Fall 2015, but the full commercial release - meaning SQ42 and the persistent universe / MMO - would happen by the end of 2016. He made this claim at 1:32:06 in this video.

At the time of this presentation, the PU wasn't yet in the alpha stage. He seemed to think that his team could get through all of alpha, get through all of beta, and optimize enough for a decent MMO launch in 2 years, all while concurrently working on a single-player game. By saying this, he demonstrated that he either didn't know what he was talking about, or he was being dishonest. It was probably a combination of the two.

Now, almost 3 years after that presentation, backers still haven't seen a mission demo of SQ42, and the MMO is in alpha with, I'm guessing, another 1-2 years of alpha ahead of them. At this rate, I would be impressed if the first episode of SQ42 gets released by 2020, and the MMO gets released by 2023.

Tons of upvotes on REDDIT and the replies confirm him rather then trying to shout him down or drag him off-topic. The wind has definitely turned over there

Still nothing from Sqadron? I remember vividly Roberts saying that we will see first episode of it in 2015. If they cant show anything now I will just assume there is nothing being worked on for Squadron or that they had to re design all that they made from scratch.

Which is striking given that they finished mocap with AAA actors years ago. But sure, there is no reason to worry. Today the media are prising the vision for cockpit design and biofeedback. Very few bother that the vision seems to be the game.
