Making money

Lol, really, what? No, money is way too easy, I would say nerf the payouts even more, I deleted my old save because i was progressing too fast and did those robigo missions just too grind, then i realised the point is not too make money fast but to progress slowly and enjoy the small ships and just play along without thinking about the next upgrade, ship. I will eventually be there again but im not in a hurry. Now Ive just been using the cobra and Asp and enjoy those ships more than anything big I used to fly. You still have 7 years to get into the conda, why rush?

If i see some new money grab on the forum I just ignore and pretend i didnt see it and just continue my own roleplay making almost nothing doing piracy and supporting anarchy factions, i never do missions for other faction no matter how good they pay. Never do passenger missions, because im a pirate not a space bus driver... just try too immerse yourself in the universe and stop thinking about the next upgrade and youll be fine, start grinding and the game is gonna wear you out...

Why is it a problem if those people also started with the same slow progress? Assuming those people didn't farm Quince/Rhea/Sothis/etc?

Why are you assuming people like me are even billionaires? I'm not, far from it. Got about 260 million in the bank, and no, i don't own a Vette. Besides the rank, couldn't afford one.

The problem is that OP tells us he feels his progress is really slow (hence he's not having as much fun as he wants) and asks for advice.
Instead of receiving advice from the veterans he gets a face full of 'it used to be a lot worse back in the days..', 'You're playing the game wrong, do something you find fun instead of trying to focus on money.'.

I find it very depressing how a small group of forum backslappers keeps telling people that they're not playing the game right and that wanting to progress in the game is somehow a dirty thing.
For a lot of people the fun lies in progressing on the ship ladder. The rate of progress, especially in the beginning of the game, is very slow.

I've never grasped the "waaah you've missed out on smaller ships" argument.

I went Sidey, Cobra, AspX, Python, Anaconda, Cutter. BUT once I reached that point and had a few quid in the bank, I went back and brought all the small ships and spent time in them. Enjoyable time because they were nicely upgraded and I didn't care if they went pop.

It's not obligatory to stay in your big ship once you've earned it, nor must you play the way everyone else does. Much like only the rich claim that money doesn't bring happiness, only people with enormous fleets cry about the speed people make credits in a game.

But feels ain't realz ;)

If I feel my progress in GTA:V is too slow can someone throw me a few shark cards? :p

You quote only part of my post. The rest of that line said he was asking for advice.
You now frame it in such a way that he was asking for freebies.

But hey, you've thrown some smileys into your post so I guess it's allright ;)

My first million took me a month to acquire it and I enjoyed the sense of hustling / living on the edge to get there so the OP is definitely ahead of the curve, and its not like I'm not good at elite, I made combat elite within a year...

My advice to the OP would be take your time, enjoy the journey, and fly to have fun rather than focussing on grinding credits per hour because it all becomes a bit stale when you have a few billion credits worth of ships hanging around the hangar and nothing to do with them. Get the empire rank for a courier, it is a joy of a thing to fly, even more so in VR, and play different play styles, bounty hunting, trading, cz mercenary, assassin, passenger ship pilot, exploring....

Google "black treasure elite dangerous" its a tourist beacon 5000 ly out from the bubble, its a black hole in a nebula illuminated by a neutron star, its pretty cool to see it, you can get passenger missions going out there, keep your eyes peeled for one and if you see it go do it, it looks cool, you will make a lot of money on exploration data, and the 5kly travelled from starting point is a requirement for professor pailin, the best engineer in the game.

Okay I will quote your whole post then...

The point being, you are quick to discount the advice of people who are arguably the most experienced in gaining credits. Seems a little irrational does it not?

Just replied the same thing to the same question in reddit but here it is again...

Head to Obsidian Orbital in Maia. Once you dock you will receive a message for a mission with a reward ranging from 5-20 million credits. To complete the mission just head to: ...

HIP 17125 A 3 a
-65.8228, 48.8618

Here you can find the items that you need to complete the mission. They will damage your ship while you are piloting it so head quickly back to Obsidian Orbital to complete the missions (sometimes you need to head to a nearby planetary base instead so make sure to check the mission description).

If you don't see all of the items that you need at the crashed ship site then just exit to main menu and restart in Solo or Group mode and it will refresh the items that are there.

You can easily do this mission with a Cobra Mk III

Deep space exploration with li yon rui powerplay 5 is probably the fastest legit moneymaker now. I made 2 billion from a 100 hour expedition. Undiscovered, Habitable zone worlds of A, B and G stars. It is doable in a well equipped hauler, or diamondback explorer if you have the money. Warning: exploration isn't for everybody so if you do the road to riches and want to gauge your eyes out don't try it yet...also it takes awhile to become that efficient with exploration and leveling powerplay to 5 safely is either time consuming (delivering stuff) or dangerous (undermining) unless you have powerful ships already. I think I could do it NOW early game but no way I could have before...so maybe save this for a bit later.

I wouldn't change how I did it. Lots of fun and got me to the big ships eventually. I started with ground missions in a sidewinder then a hauler, eventually switched to mining in a type6, then passenger missions in an asp explorer, mixing in some combat. Eventually deep space exploration.

Man, i think grind PP to rank 5 is the worst possible thing to do. I still have nightmares from my PP experiment where i had to maintain the grind on a weakly basis. It was like having to do tax returns every week, and that was only for maintaining rank 4.

Trading: Use an external tool to show you profitable trades around your home system, or elect another system and use that

Exploration: Road to Riches guide. Find the Neutron Highway and scan all Neutron Stars. Visit the Nebulae, and at minimum Honk each jump. (Buy an Advanced Discovery Scanner)

Combat: Early on, enter a High Resource Extraction Site. Follow the cops. When they're shooting a target, select that target. Then wait until you see 'Wanted' in the ships profile (Left side). When it's near dead, help kill it and gain the reward. You can make 6m in a day doing this.

Unless you can afford a new ship+it's modules+Rebuy, do not buy it.

Play in Solo or Private Group.. Do not play in Open.

Do NOT spend hours doing under paying missions.
Do NOT upgrade your ship unless you have all funds.
Do NOT upgrade your ship, because the new one looks nice and YouTuber X was able to kill everything. Advanced ships take getting used to and learning to fly them.
Do NOT fly without Rebuy.
Do NOT play in Open.
Do NOT fire on a ship unless it says 'Wanted' even if it fires on you.
Do NOT fly without some kind of shield.

Good starter ships: Cobra, Viper, Hauler
Combat Ships; Vulture<FAS<FDL<Anaconda/Corvette/Cutter
MultiRole Ships: Python/Clipper
Exploration: Asp Explorer/Diamondback Explorer/Anaconda
Mining: Python/Clipper (Someone more knowledgeable than me add here)
Mission Ships: Python/FGS
End Game Ships: (Whatever that is): The Big Three; Anaconda/Corvette/Cutter

So now I'm irrational... this is going downhill fast.

I did not discount anyone's advice. I was pointing out that a lot of experienced players didn't offer any usefull advice at all. They simply told OP he was playing the game wrong and how back in the days 6 million would take months.

You are automatically assuming that people should only provide advice that reinforces the OP. Why can people not offer criticism from a position of experience?

FWIW. I was stating that your point in the post was irrational, not you personally.

Hmm, he got advice quite early on. (for instance, read my first reply)

Ok read the thread fully before posting (I think).

Get a type 6, fill it with business class passenger cabins, do passenger missions, profit.

Once you have enough money, buy a trade build type 7, use Eddb.io for finding trade loops, do these loops, profit.

Same as above but with a type 9, profit.

With the tpye 9, you can use it to achieve any ship in the game rather quickly, and, most importantly reliably. Not the fastest but fast enough for being a guaranteed money maker.

You could always sit in someone elses combat vette and let them make the money for you ;)

But you should be wary not to burn yourself out

You did not? Well another quote is in order then:

Good to see the biollionairevets out in droves to tell the new guy he's playing the game wrong.

How is that "not discounting anyone's advice"?

You seem to have an issue with others having more money than you, since you're so easy to project that everyone but you is a billionaire.
Please provide one quote from this thread that tells the OP he is "playing the game wrong".
All posts so far have either suggested various ways of making money or stated that he's actually doing good, earning 6mil in his first week.

If you go through this thread you'll see that up until your post there's only been advice.
You're the first one to insult basically any post above yours.

Please stop trying to derail threads by flamebaiting others.

Ok trying to figure put how to put all your current quotes together is too much hassle, ok.

But, from what I've read, you sort of are correct, sort of.

See, people have just been saying "your doing well, don't know why you want our help". But that doesn't mean you can just complain about them and look like a saint.

If you think you can offer some advice (like certain others actually have), then offer it, and don't just turn this thread into a flame war, it doesn't help anyone. That applies to the other person as well.

Disclaimer: if you have posted helpful advice, I may have missed it, sorry, but my other points still stand.

Lol, yeah, didnt know, just tried joining a bounty hunter, just choose gunner position, went to the toilet too take a dump, got back and earned 300k, really felt like cheating, didnt accept the payout just had too see for myself... kinda ridiculous, but maybe this is somthing for the OP.
