Credit 'bugs' are really starting to annoy me

Going to get this off my chest. In a type 9, you can earn 1.5 mil per round trip trading at 3k credits a ton, or more if your lucky. If a trip take 5 minutes, that's 18 mil an hour, not bad.

Please Fdev, just, make your money earning consistent ok.
I understand. It can be annoying.

However, you'll have more fun, if you adopt a laid-back attitude and just concentrate on having a good time.

Currently, I have a bunch of rare goods for a CG, which I can't deliver due to the station being in lockdown. Instead of getting frustrated, I just wandered around taking whatever missions paid the best (and didn't involve lengthly trips) and stacked whatever I could. I probably earned less that 1 mil per hour, but I had fun, just flying around in my AspX.

Isn't that the point of playing a game?

I didn't fret that the missions "weren't worth my time", even though I'm double Elite with over 1 billion credits in cash. I didn't bother trying to earn rep with the local factions. I just played the game.

Players who have billions dont do missions where u get 100k not even 5 mill. They only return if there is a way to make 100+ mill in 1 h or profitable CG. fact.

Not true. When you have billions, the credits don't matter very much, at least to a lot of players.

I took several missions tonight for 5K cr. I stacked a couple of delivery missions with about 10 courier missions and made ~100K cr for 1 easy trip to an outpost. It adds up over time and I'm a patient person.

I think it's wrong that people can make over 20 million an hour by using a T9 for trading. The most I can consistently make in my Sidewinder is 120k an hour. FD, please take all the cargo slots out of the T9 to make it a more even playing field. It's not fair that people can make such obscene amounts of credits with their T9, then buy a an Anaconda with the proceeds of this exploit to blow up my defenceless Sidewinder.

Are you just trolling? Difficult to tell if you are being serious...

While frontier announce they will redesing trade/mining in beyond you can also assumo that your gamestyle are outdated you need to adapt asap.

There's not just passenger missions right now, thargoid material/missions are already running and they pay ALOT more than usual trade/mining and, if FDEV think they need to change trade/mining this means that you need to move on!

These people are using exploits. They are cheaters and should be banned from the game. It's worse than combat logging.
I actually don't care. But I've been told that cheaters are bad.

Wow, you are so aloof and cool, that makes you better than people who want actual plot and gameplay. It's so great that you can be easily amused by almost procedurally-generated planets and systems. Let's not let gameplay matter more than wandering around, being easily amused by eye-candy and the good sound design! The best gameplay is flying around waiting for numbers to tick down for minutes on end without any real action.

...Just for the record, that's all sarcasm right there, my subtlety and irony is sometimes "defeated" by geniuses. I was serious about the sound design though, it really is good, and the eye candy really is good as well.

Also, +1 for the whole "why do other players matter so much to you" take. There's no p2p trading, so any player with any arbitrary amount of money or ships doesn't affect you in the least. You want to grind for months in a Sidewinder to afford a Hauler, be my guest.

Unless they're a PVPer with a god-rolled PVP ship, of course. But that's really more just a failing inherent in the 2.1 release, rather than anything players do.

Wow, you must be really sensitive. I guess that's what happens when you piggyback off of other player's discoveries & "work" .

edit: Not actually sure about your angle after reading past the initial paragraph.

Yes, let's make the assassination of highly dangerous pirate lords make the same amount of money as A=>B trading. Good idea. Fantastic. Give the man a ribbon.

I'm kidding, of course. That's really stupid.

Where was he talking about assassination missions paying to much? If anything he was already supporting your position by asking that payouts in general be given consistency. I might even admit you have a good point here if you didn't cover it with a layer of salty sarcasm.

I am with the OP.

There are too many ways to earn money by methods wich feel not intentional. They are possible because of the weak mission generator or the sometimes awkward BGS and other reasons.

Board hopping alone should not be possible. I have done that a fair amount and still wish it would not be possible... sounds odd, no... It's simply feeling cumbersome not to do if it's possible.
I don't care about other players, for me, the pure existence of these "push here to earn tons of credits" buttons making the legit activities feeling pointless.

But even in the legit ways should be more consistent payouts. Smuggling and hunting down Elite pirate lords for example should cash in much more than now.

Please Fdev, just, make your money earning consistent ok. Stop having a broken system of inconsistencies, it's getting on my nerves.

agreed

I want to earn as much as everyone else

Why. I don't care how much ppl make as long as its only in certain areas. I do not want to consciously have to nerf myself - or refrain from doing missions I find fun bc they payscale is of the charts.

I agree with the OP, kinda. For me the problem comes from the payouts on the mission boards. 893k to deliver 3 tons of gold, when the gold costs less than 10k per ton. Hard on the suspension of disbelief.

It actually does. Killing Pirate lords is 2 million tops ( at least I never had a higher payout ) + bounty. In the time it takes to do that you can make much more running trade missions or ( if you have a good route and lots of cargo space ) a to b trading...

You're likely to have a lot more fun in a game like this if you don't worry about what other players are doing unless it directly affects you.

It does impact the OP, since they have to actively suspend disbelief and ignore all the stupidly imbalanced activities that pay more than trading for no extra risk or effort.
Obviosuly we're talking about passenger, scan and skimmer massacre missions here.

I killed a pirate lord yesterday. It was a funny two step mission where you get the coords of the target by scanning a data point in a high sec base. I managed to scan the point a escaped under heavy fire to my ship an jumped to target system where I killed him in his Corvette with a wing of two Gunships. Was really fun kind of challenging. But netted me in 2.x million credits. I did it for fun, but the payout for such missions should be 5-10 millions just for the time it takes and maybe another 5-10 for the risk.

However, it bugs me that people earn more through methods that are often not intended to be as lucrative by Fdev. I wanna be legit but when I can earn hundreds of millions (or more) through these non intentional methods, I feel cheated going legit. But it doesn't matter if you decide to take advantage of the situation, becuase it'll be gone soon and you'll have to sniff out your next cash grab.

Signed, a man who wants some peace of mind.

Personally, given how often I see variations of posts like:
  • I just lost my brand new Cutter because I didn't have the rebuy!
  • I made a newbie outfitting mistake, and it cost me 70 million credits!
  • I'm losing money faster than I gain it in my Anaconda!

I really don't think they're doing themselves any favors. Especially given how most of these "get rich quick" schemes work. First, someone who actually knows how the game works needs to find those BGS edge cases for you, and then post them online for you to see. You then spend most of your time mode hopping in an effort to find "perfect" missions, which is not exciting game play there. Finally, you do the same thing OVER and OVER and OVER again... again, not exactly my idea of fun.

The end result is you get a ship you don't have the skills to fly well, you don't have the experience necessary to maintain that ship, and frequently you have no idea what's fun for you to do in the game in the first place. Because of this, you go out, have a bit of fun, lose most of the money you made, and then end up doing the exact same thing all over again.

As long as whatever bug or flawed logic that's enabling the current "get rich quick" scheme is fixed, I'm content. I'd prefer it if mission rewards were more realistic, since the number of "you can buy your own ship for that!" rewards is WAY too high for my taste, but I'm still content.

nail on the head.
in principle i could not give 2 squits what another player does or how they get their money.. hell use a cheat to get 5 billion credits for all i care....

but having to close my eyes and put fingers in my ears and pretend i am not flying around doing missions for a few 100k a pop when i know i could just cheese the latest "get rich quick glitch" is horrible.

but i keep saying this and people keep deliberately responding that i am just jealous of what others are making <shrugs>.

You are not jealous but Mad, Mike. But I definetely agree!

Honestly mate, best not to worry how others make credits. The exploits have always been around, the devs eventually come up with a fix, fully agree that the devs should be more on the ball with plugging exploits.

1.5 mill per round trip isn't great tbh, you can make a lot more doing system state trading combined with regular haulage missions. If you really want to max profits, stick a single economy class cabin in there as well, I normally pick up an extra 600,000 to a million transporting a few passengers going to my cargo destination.

I agree with the caveat that instead of the pirate mission paying out between 10 and 20 million 5 would be fine but simple a to B transport missions should pay way less then they do now ( or be a hell lot riskier ). Also two GS and a Corvette - sounds like a handfull...

LOL.
Aloof and cool.

I think I fit the crap poster and dork moniker.

There's 'gold rush', and then theirs 'instant anaconda'. Or at least that's what people talk about. An above poster seems to claim otherwise you may have noticed.

I don't think there has ever been "instant anaconda". Has there ever been one of these places that pays 140 million in a couple of hours? If so, then too bad I missed the boat. But then I wasn't ready to fly an Anaconda (skill wise, that is). It does no good to buy an Anaconda and then get it destroyed in combat cause you don't know how to fight with it. Especially with a 7 million credit (stock) re-buy. It's more than just buying the ship. You have to have enough to afford several (well, at least 2) re-buys and outfit it so it's not just a brick in space (which also adds to the re-buy). 200 million credits or so in a week? Even with exploits? Maybe if all you have to do is play Elite Dangerous all day.
