PvP Aliens are ruining PvP

This is every death I've had in game: http://roaweb20161109100616.azurewebsites.net/static/MyLosses/e797019e-fc0e-4ff2-a80a-c5b657ae21c9

Probably 80% of them are on my friendslist and 50% of them I talk to in different discords. I'll wing with them some nights and fight them other nights.

What’s the command on the GCI bot for checking your deaths again? I found “mykills” but don’t know how to access deaths.
Edit: Nevermind. Here are mine!

PvP community is awesome in this game. Cheers, guys.

Edit: oh, and Ganking IS part of the game.

As Dale Emarisi once said, "nasty things will come your way"

To be honest, I think gankers are ridiculous and this is why:

They claim to play the game like it would be in real life, which is incredibly dishonest. Why? Because gankers engage on players for no logic reason. They kill innocents, for their lolz, feeling like they are the Joker from Batman.
Pirates are cool, as a trader I love it when pirates interdict me and I can engage in roleplay with them. Either trying to escape or submit and eject some of my cargo. Let's be honest, trading is awfully boring. Those little interactions make it fun and interesting.
Bountyhunters do their job. If there's bounty on your head, they will hunt you down. That's what they do for a living. It's a logic interaction and interesting for me as a player.
As you can see there is logic behind that. Random ganking is not logic at all.

Senseless ganking is something the Joker wouldn't even do.
"Kid... I'm the Joker. I don't just randomly kill people. I kill people when it's funny. What would conceivably be funny about killing you?" - The Joker (Batman Confidential #12 (2008))

Those people aren't anarchists. They are plain and simply terrorists, and not even good ones. The main objective of terrorists is to spread terror and get everyones attention to their agenda. Most of them just terrorize random people without any structure and strategy. They don't have any movement or target. They are sadistic people, bored with their life.
The only people I know of, who are legit terrorists, who are doing their actual job, are the SDC pilots. They have an agenda, a reputation and a history of huge cruelty.
These guys flew hundreds of lightyears in combat vessels to shoot unmanned exploration ships and then let the pilots in their SRVs fight to death, on a live stream.

I mean, this is dedication. Those guys are dedicated, pushing their agenda. Dedicated to being bad, yeah, but still dedicated to being bad. The others are just being bad.

Ask yourself: would you fly 500ly to Merope to randomly kill people? I mean in real life? No you wouldn't, even if it's an anarchic system. In-game they do it out of boredom and because they know, that they don't literally kill people. They know that the only consequence is a rebuy screen and a ridiculously low amount of bounty on their heads.

Anyways, you have to decide for yourself. You can see ganking as part of the game, I don't think it is. In my oppinion it is a way to satisfy the sadist deep in you.

[One last idea, I had after writing this whole text: You could of course decide to be a serial killer, since you can "blaize your own trail". Then I guess you are actually doing your job.]

And just like that, we see another thread entirely derailed? Gankers, pvpers, pvers... all irrelevant. The topic was about the excessive cheating brought on by players at Maia who want some content, but not other content and are content to cheat via combat logs.
My opinion is it’s largely fds fault. Why can’t the Thargoid Weapons be effective in general play as well? Why should pve setups be so incredibly subpar to pvp setups?
Had those weapons the same damage potential as other weapons and were NPCs suitably risky, everyone would adjust to the learning curve and no longer be such easy targets.
Was just over at founders. Saw all those pretty experimental weapons. Realised they would only be of use for content that is niche within a niche within a niche and left them there untouched.
That’s on FD.

You are overcomplicating it. Hunting and killing is fun, even if the prey is only prey and not an enemy that can fight back. People do it to have fun. And they are mostly normal nice guys, maybe even more likeable than a lot of the pve'ers out there . It's not like destroying someones ship is badly hurting him. There is an 95%/100% insurance on gear.

When I combat log, I roleplay I got some experimental equipment from the Pilot's Federation to test. It's a distortion device that will screw with the scanning equipment of other ships, and will bend light around my ship so it appears for all intents and purposes that my ship instantly disappears. Now the PF hasn't told me whether they have given these devices to other ships as well, but from the reports I'm hearing it seems to be the case.

So it's all good guys :)

That's good. When I do it I'm protesting against some game feature or other, I forget which exactly. :)

<Edit> That was a joke. I don't combat-log.

It's entirely possible that other people are not combat logging on you - but for a multitude of reasons your connection to them is insufficient and the game kicks you out to avoid unpleasantness for everyone involved.

I've got a CMDR still in Maia if you'd like your connection thoroughly vivisected :D

This ^

I'm not interested in PvP, but can avoid it easily by high waking.

However, on some occasions I "appear" to get interdicted, hear the sound for it, but then hear the interdiction fail - no one is on my radar - so I can only assume connection errors can play a part in this.

That could actually be the block function working as intended, depends if you use it I suppose.

The blocking function, a great feature in a multiplayer space shooting game, unfnbelievbale.

Fdev, why dont you simply remove all the weapons next patch, so we can circle each other comapring paint jobs and typing o7 o7 o7 in the comms.

As far as ED concerned ganks are part of this game, grom missle and rev cascades are examples of gank weapons. Fdev put them there for a reason.

The block function is like the one BGS and three modes, sensible idea's for giving players choice.

If their mere existence hurts you so very deeply, you should put some effort into researching your future purchases to avoid this type of easily avoided self inflicted misery.

For example I don't like 3rd person only games, so I check if it's a thing and don't buy them if it is.

First of all this feature was introduced mid way, before it was affecting the comms only. Right now its supposed to affect the instancing, however its still unclear whether it actually works.

Second, it doesn't bother me at all tbh, people who block others in an ONLINE MULTIPLAYER GAME, should play single player offline games. The mere fact that fdev introduced this feature shows they have no idea what a multiplayer game is, but they already showed this by going with p2p and also having no multiplayer content for since the the first release.

Third, the blocking function was supposed to be used against harrasment, racial/homophobic slur in the comms and other type of cancer that comes from RL, but people ofcourse chose to abuse it and use against someone who killed them unjustifiably according to their own opinions.
So what now, if I kill someone as part of PP wars and they decided from some uknown reason that they were "griefed" and chose to block me, how is that not abusing this feature?

The fact that players choose to cheat to deal with their in ability to cope with all situations equally, is an entirely separate concern.
Going back to the OP; that the introduction of AX weapons, and their associated load outs, has indirectly impacted people's willingness to engage in PvP.
I don't feel Frontier's intention was malicious or an attempt to fragment the players at all, merely a way of encouraging more variety.

As always it has been met with disdain because, as much as we all cry out for change, people hate to see an upset in the status quo.
