What is your go-to credit making method for big ships?

I just do what entertains me. The credits come all in good time.

Maybe I'll find a reason to buy a big ship when I have the credits for them. For now, small and medium ships work well enough.

I think that is the issue here - there really is no good reason to own a big ship at the moment that I can find, apart from the fact that I enjoy flying the Cutter.

Bigger ship.. more cabins or more cargo..

I've anaconda + vette + 2 cutters. 1 Cutter for trade/passengers the other for HazRez.

And to answer the question as to why the cutter and not the vette... I got lucky on the Engineering Wheel Of Luck when engineering the cutter. Full combat spec Cutter with 27ly jump range.. It was like it was meant to be.. All the Gods of Randomness smiled on that baby.

Nice! With board swapping I agree that the bigger ships have a niche, but you have to be patient enough to load them up with missions to the same destination, or at least a limited number of destinations. And given how unpleasant board swapping is in VR then I am hoping to find a viable career path that doesn't require more than at most a few swaps.

Sounds like fun, I might deck out my Cutter with limpets and cargo holds and come meet you! Although even the thought of resetting my save has made me cry a little inside... ;)

PM me please if you think you are going to show and I'll log on. I'm already 20KM away from the station. I've spent 3 hours so far waiting for CMDRs, but so far I've only had 1 show up for kicks.

People are either not bothered, forget or think it's a scam / trap.

Since my first Sidewinder to the Corvette im flying now it was always bounty hunting in RES with some killing missions in between

Now that I don't need any more money I find that trading CGs earn quite a lot. With a big ship you only need a few trips to get into top 10%, which usually pays 15-20 MCr at the end of each week. When there are multiple CGs it's perfectly possible to be top 10% in 2 or 3.

If there is a expedition going on, I take the Elysium Fire and make money from the scanning (well unless it is a one way trip like distant stars).

Otherwise, I usually do bounty hunting or like this week, the CG in colonia.

I try trading sometimes, but I find it really boring.

Thats what I do but I make a lot more (usually) by simply doing either Boom Time Delivery cargo missions or Transport Passenger missions

Oops, referring to doing the CG;s

Learned at my cost loading my new cutter with 792 tonnes of volunteers (imp slaves) and boosting into the station when deploying my landing gear. A 30m credit bath.

I would like to say I took it like the 42 year old man, but frankly I was sobbing like a baby at the rebuy screen. All those lives wasted. :(

I run regular missions based on my mood.

It's not meta, but it's always different. Unless I do the same mission twice, then it's not.

Assassination, skimmer, massacre, smuggling, data scans, are all good fun.

Bounty hunt CG's. The last one i played i got into the top 10% and it net me about 50 mil.
I typically use Engineering to keep my ship rebuys down where i can and 50 mil is a good chunk of change.

Currently I am struggling to find a sensible use for my Cutter

Nasty piece of work to get yourself into, I'd say. Imagine doing the same in a Corvette. Ugh! I shudder at the mere thought!

On a more serious note now. I love my Asp. I bought the game back in 2014 and took long breaks from it. Now I have money for a Python or an iClipper, but not both yet. And not in a really big hurry. Yeah, I like getting money, and I ground trading until sparks jumped out in the beginning, but I did other stuff besides. I did rares trade, exploration, driving mindlessly, shooting drones, scanning data, mining, just drifting about in rings, piracy, combat, CGs, sucking at combat in a haz res in a fresh Vulture I could barely afford, jumping back in an Asp, T7, whatever was better for the task at hand and I could afford. I'd say do in a Cutter what you did in a Clipper. What the heck did you do in a Clipper? Grind for more credits? And bought a bigger ship to grind for even more credits? Heck. There's game beyond that.

If you can't find something to do in a Cutter, maybe start back over. Buy an Eagle and give it a go. Try to find fun stuff to do in an Eagle. I know people who own Corvettes and love their Eagle.

There's people to play with. Try racing. On the ground, in the air.
