10yr old daughter started playing

my daughter has taken to playing ED on my 2nd account, she's a terrible pilot (but getting better) but i had a weird 'proud' feeling in the pit of my stomach when after being interdicted by a NPC pirate she shouts "you think you can just take my stuff, think again Thomas!". she was flying an ASP Explorer setup for taxi/exploration and had no weapons, she turns to me and asks if she can outrun him, i said you'd better try, her reply "durrr... i already am but the boost won't go". Turns out in a panic she dropped the cargo scoop and Thomas blew her up [cry].

Expecting her to be upset after i'd explained what happened, i was surprised when she announced "please remove the scoop-stupid thing, i need to find Thomas, i'll take his stuff and see how he likes it!". What really made me laugh though, is she goes to the outfitting screen and in a calm very-matter-of-fact voice says "Dad, let's talk about guns!".
Not sure if i should be concerned or not :S. I tried explaining what revenge was and that she'd be better of just forgetting about it (resisting all let-it-go attributes), she than just winks at me and goes "O.K. but i would like to say, he didn't get my stuff" (it was some cargo found on a planet).

My ten year old kid has lent me hand a few times.

Pretty good on the basic airmanship. Hanging out the back of uh is it Anderson Dock in uh Eravate?
Anyways I'm dropping painite Palladium and - uh mental blank - the other P.
Cannisters one by one and he's scooping up in a Sidewinder.
Platinum! That's the thing.

So I drop something cheap and then he proves himself and so then I start dropping triple P to beef up the new account.
He did alright for a while.
Bought a Cobra with the commodities he scooped. Got him a skin of his choice.
We did The Old Worlds Rare's Run a few times together during that crazy week of PowerPlay Cycle 44.
Heading deep into Federation space to Altair during a Fed vs Alliance PowerPlay war.
"Dad, Dad! Hollow squares! There's a hollow square!"
"Is it blue?"
"Yeah is that bad? Should I drop?"
"Blue is your wing. That's me you nuff nuff."

The last time we played we went back to the first Guardian ruins when Ram Tah first opened up that mission. We'd been there the week before and it was quiet, puttering around in SRVs.

He quite liked the jump-honking.

We were on our way together, but I stopped in at Wolf 406 to change ships.
"You go on ahead, if you see a hollow square just low wake, pick the nearest system and high wake.
So he gets there ahead of me, and we'd spent an hour with a globe and graph paper and a compass rose learning how to fly to coordinates.

"It's planet 3A, just look in the system map. Right hand panel. Uh no sorry left hand, yeah there, uh just see if you can see 3A - I've got to swap out to the Asp."

"3A?"

"Just see if you can figure it out, I'll be there soon - I'm 6 jumps away."

"What! Nononononono! Sorry sorry sorry!"

His rebuy screen said: "You have been destroyed by CMDR Fulsame"
Looked him up on INARA.
Senior PvP guy over at The Imperial InQuisition. Big rep.
I think TIIQ were running some sort of "blockade" and the kid was just another hollow square to pop.

I like to think the kid might have tried to get away, but he was dropped back from the system map into a burning cockpit.

And he took it pretty well, hollow squares mean danger at our house.

But you know - that happened a long time ago.
The Alt account has sat idle for months.
He plays Overwatch, and he's always "about to do something else" whenever I suggest playing Elite.

I didn't think the experience put him off, but it's hard to know.
Nothing against CMDR Fulsame either.
I love open. I know what it is. I know who's there.
Sure he's on my KOS list, but it's like having Bruce Lee on your KOS list.
You can dream, but when the opportunity presents you're going to lose that fight.

My 8yo son got his own account, found platinum on the planet and got promptly destroyed by pirates in his freewinder.
First he was afraid of playing ever again, then he started plotting his revenge. He is now in a keelback with turrets and a fighter, needs some combat practice still.
He loves it.

Awww. It does warm the heart. Sounds like she's naturally inclined towards combat. Imagine how good she'll be in a few months!
My 2 year old girl can't string a sentence together but runs around the house shouting "engage". By contrast her 4 year old brother cries when my sidey gets smoked.
Maybe the next generation of pilots is going to be predominantly female? The boy has the makings of a good whiner though.

Are you kidding me?

This is awesome, man. I need to get me one of those...little people thingies....err...Children. Yes, I need a children...

Get her into an SRV and hunting down some Arsenic or Cadmium for you, its a good experience for them and great for your materials stores :D

haha, this is precisely what i was doing :), i had to land the ship for her as previously she was like "the planet will slow me down when i hit it".

Just don't show her how to change the key bindings. Can cost a lot of credits

She plays on my laptop (Alienware) which became redundant after i got a better PC, the 2nd account came with my x52 pro when i brought it so we do fly together. i couldn't sell the laptop as it was a gift from my boss so it's somehow now become 'hers'!!

Hahah! Awesome.
Be a good dad and buy her the Vulture. There will be no pirates left, tomorrow. :)

She's got one! i used the 2nd account when i went out exploring in the primary one, she took it over with around 150 million credits, a Vulture and the Asp, only engineer used was Farseer. I put her in a sidewinder, hooked up an xBox one controller and said she can have a better ship when she can successfully dock. took her a couple nights but she stuck with it and after several "docking failures", she did it. in her defence, i probably could have told her sooner that she had to ask for docking permission, but she took the laptop into her bedroom and played it under the disguise of "just doing my homework!".

You can dress it up as you like, but she was interdicted by an NPC, could have been Solo for all you know.

Love OP's daughters attitude.

Not so much the follow-up posters with their AGENDA

We're playing in a private group (just us 2), i'm not sure what the Agenda is, not sure if you or me got the wrong end of the stick with Lehman's post, i took it as when she grows up, she'll be playing in Open?

Awesome attitude! I hope my little girl (currently 6) will give ED a shot. I'll get her an account if she does...

Z...

I got disconnected one day on my main account as she started it up on the laptop, i was way out of the bubble and as she curious i let her have a go with the other one. When i suggested she should run the tutorial missions, she was all "nah, i'll learn the hard way". To which i replied, they are the hard way!.

My 11yr old daughter is very fond of ED but i am sworn to secrecy. None of her friends must ever find out. She loves Minecraft too and same rule applies.

Aps.
