Wow! The Orca

I have to admit, it was love at first flight. The feel, the sound, the handling, all awesome.

My one gripe is that it is a large vessel and that doesn't make sense. They could tweak its size and possibly a minor tweak on cargo slots and make it a medium vessel. Dolphin - small, Orca - Medium, Beluga - large just seems to make the most sense. It would help elevate the beluga somewhat also I think.

Yeah I agree. I thought for sure coriolis was wrong when it was listed as an L. Seems strange, perfect fit for an M. Oh well.

So I picked up an Orca to run passenger missions to acquire an Alioth permit. I usually use my Type 7 for passengers but it was far away and I figured I could sell the Orca back afterword. But man do I like this ship. It is just comfortable to fly. Cockpit is awesome, pretty agile and a beautiful view. With an A classed FSD it has a decent jump range without engineering. I know it is expensive and frivolous but I think I will keep it. It is a luxury liner and it feels like I am piloting a small yacht. So what do you guys think? Any other Orca love?

The Orca is a very good looking vessel. It looks stunning in black, like some kind of secret ops espionage vessel.
It does not have the excessive and extremely ugly tail appendices of the Beluga.
I do like the general look of the Beluga, but because of that idiotic, incoherent tail I will never buy it.
The Orca on the other hand is designed with style.

By the way... I like the little Dolphin too. A nice, simple and to the point design.

I agree. The Orca definitely should have been designed to fit the medium pad. That would have made sense.

People don't realise just how big Orcas actually are. Here's mine parked at one of the INRA bases...

605ms boost, 40ly jump range and still with pretty reasonable shields, good fuel scoop and luxury cabin.

What is not to like.

My only comment is that the OP is doing it backwards, especially if credits are low or you're keen on minimizing your rebuy costs. Irkutsk Station in Alioth has Orcas at a 20% discount, the biggest ship discount in the game. You'll save millions buying one there.

So get the Alioth permit first, then buy yourself an Orca.

Someone makes an orca thread as soon as I've nearly got the cash (and rank) for my smuggling clipper....

Is life trying to troll me? (I was going to get either this ship or the clipper)

Ah, thanks for this tip. Maybe I'll go buy one tonight.

Umm that's a Fer-De-Lance.

I don't know if I want an Orca or a Beluga. I have a feeling if I buy the Orca they'll announce changes that make the Beluga a highly desirable passenger ship, and if I buy Beluga instead they won't.

Credits aren't THAT hard to come buy. Plus, you can always sell the Orca towards getting a Beluga....

Then sell the Beluga right back when your wings get caught in the slot....

Same thing I post in every Orca thread ...

Dedicated mining Orca FTW!

The ultimate utilitarian playboy craft!

I liked that video I saw once, someone took an Orca, put on a ridiculous amount of hull reinforces and no shield, and rammed a lot. PA salvo, aim for their windshield, and boost. Repeat as necessary.

Also, an incredible amount of genitalia-related puns.

though with the wings on a spaceship? Even for atmospheric flying they won't be necessary.

Its from an FdL - my wing mate - the ramming ship is my Orca - it does go through at 600 though so you may have missed it

I quite like my mining Orca as well. And if any pirates come along, you can be out of there quicker than the milkman.

I'm very happy with my stable of 4 Orcas.

Flew an orca for a while, was really surprised how well it flies honestly for such a pretty big ship, wasn't expecting at all for it to turn or fly as fast as it could

Haven't flown a dolphin yet though, is it also really fast/nimble despite being a passenger ship?
