How much does your Python owe you? Or rather...

Scoob posted an interesting thread here and that got me thinking about my Python and how much that owes me, or rather how much I owe her...

I bought her back in the last days of Robigo specifically in order to make some quick bucks before the expected 'nerf of everything' that was 2.1(?).

It cost me roughly Cr100,000,000 and during the next few months before the update I made Cr 1.2bn in her.

In effect I owe her Cr 1,100,000,000. Which I guess is not too bad.

At the moment she's got her feet up waiting on the next big thing :D

I really haven't spent a lot of time flying my Python.

I only really used it constantly for a few days to unlock some engineer who required I do missions in a system that only had orbital platforms.

I did, however, turn it into another of my "projects", which means it's ended-up as my 4th most expensive ship behind my Corvette, Cutter and Anaconda.
Not even sure how I managed to do that but, IIRC, it's worth something like Cr350m.

All that being the case, it certainly owes me credits, rather than the other way around.

When it comes to value-for-money, I guess my original Sidey now takes that prize.
In it's current configuration, it's cost me Cr330,000 (which is still amazing for a Cr30,000 ship) and it's earned me at least Cr260m, meaning it's paid for itself more than 750 times over.

Nuthin'!

Ain't got none, 'cause e'erybody an' their dog's got one.

Ain't doin' mainstream, thanks a lot, guv.

The Python's the only ship in which I've managed to make almost 30 millions pirating a single ship (although in three trips to the station).

It's boring to fly though, I think I got rid of it before I made the money back from buying and equipping it.

It made me like 100mil. I was thinking I would like it for the nomad style of life. Packing it full with everything I might need and just touring the universe, looking for any kind of work. But... meh.

- It's to good at everything it does, which is boring and feels unbalanced. Even the flight model is perfect with DD5, how it accelerates, how it turns, how it brakes, how it handles in SC. Disguisting. It has no soul!
- I don't like the visuals of the ship model
- The Type 7 which feels more interesting to me has exactly the same capacity to earn money with passengers and trading due to the 3 size 5 and size 6 slots
- Other ships are more fun to fly in combat.

So, yeah.

Maybe if there will be a reliable way to earn money only with outposts... Right now the most money is in passengers which are mostly large pads. Or maybe there are still some loopholes that let you get rich and require using an outpost? I don't know.

Mine is coming in at just under 107mil for an armed passenger transport/cargo ship. I've not kept track but I'm pretty sure it's paid off. Galactic mafia hasn't come to break my legs yet so guess I'm good.

Hutton Orbital runs require medium pad. Unless you consider them "a loophole" for some reason - in this case you are welcome to try.

Was trying it with Hutton, 90 minutes is a lot and dimnishes the pay greatly. It seems the sweet spot is with stations around 200kls from the star. And the problem is there are a lot of systems with a lot of stations around Alpha Centauri, which means you have to roll the boards A LOT to fill your cabins with missions to Hutton. I guess the perfect one is if you find a station far away from the star and there aren't too many other systems with station in close proximity. But I'm not an experienced loopholer, so I'm not sure :D

Ok, just was going to tell you you were not doing it right - but looks like you consider tricks of the trade "a loopholing", so will spare you from the useless knowledge ;)

Hey! I did refrain from naming it exploits! This should work in my favor! :D

No, seriously, I realize I'm not doing it right, cause I'm only getting good money out of it, instead of the crazy sums people are throwing around here. So, to keep it on topic. Is a medium landing pad needed for it to generate those large amounts of money or can you do it with large ones? I know ppl were doing it in Anacondas... But this was before the "nerfs".

I would say, roughly:
Half my trade income
Half my combat income
A third of everything else

Hermione is currently fully engineered: handles like a Cobra and takes a beating like an Anaconda. But she is competing with a Cutter and a Corvette...
But I still love my Python and fly her at least once per week, mostly more [heart]

Not *needed*, but *helps*. At least I prefer it that way, and I don't like cumbersome large ships handling.
I know you can do it in huge ship instead - but you gain something, you lose something. I've tried it and income/time was somewhat less (though also large enough).

It has made me most of what I have after the FAS I traded in to get my Python.

I'm currently burned out on missions and the constantly evolving situation with them, so I've not been flying my Python as much as I normally do. I've been doing mostly passenger missions and bounty hunting of late, but I am hoping that FD figures out what they are doing and quits mucking with the boards. Then maybe I can get back to flying my Python.

Hopefully, that isn't too much to ask. :)

My Python got me through the Engineers' update and the grind for the Corvette.

Still own one, not my original because I sold it for an Anaconda, which was promptly sold to buy another Python.

Did buy an Anaconda later on for the elite exploration title.

This would be the only ship I would buy if you only had one choice.
