Community Event / Creation BRC Road Rally Racing, Season 1: Oct-Dec 3303

Yeah switched to solo but no luck. One time I managed to get through by boosting high enough to where the gap widens a little bit but it took like thirty seconds to tumble through the invisible wall haha.

Edit: actually looking like the boosting through a little higher might work consistently. If nobody else is affected by this I'm just gonna work that into my run as a fancy finishing touch to the course

Edit2: now it's happening at the other little gap you have to go through before the big tank gap. Would you say a boost over the pipe followed by a boost between the big tank and the building are an equal trade off for shooting through the gap?
Would you mind posting a little video of it, so I can see what's happening, and where on the course you're talking about? Thanks.

Here's a video sorry for the wait!

No need to be sorry, thanks for taking the time! I'm on my way to take a look now.

For what it's worth, I'm happy with anything that gets you through any of the gaps, but I'm curious why I didn't run into the issues on my test runs. That was even the course I was testing on while getting feedback from Bruski, before I'd released details to anyone else.

Alright, there's definitely some weird geometry going on in there. And you're right about sometimes being able to go through without hindrance. I'll update the map within the next 12 hours to not require hugging that wall...once you go around the big round building and have line-of-sight to the finish line, go for it.

While testing CMDR Brabston, Timmy's collision issue, I noticed something that apparently had eluded me all this time: SRVs are 4-wheel drive. steering!

Quick question after watching some of the videos ... is marking out the course very carefully with tyre tracks before running it for real by following your own tracks a viable navigation tactic?

That's exactly what I assumed I'd have to do, because those courses are crazy complicated!

It is a viable tactic, but don't forget that it's totally in the spirit of the competition to help each other out as eyes-in-the-sky navigators. :)

The OP has been updated with a new map for Aldiss Terminal. I'd encourage everyone who is participating in these events to create bug reports for broken geometry encountered while racing.

Leaderboard Update

Leaderboard has been update with CMDR Brabston, Timmy's Aldiss Terminal run. Additionally, further review of CMDR <-lightspeed->'s Aldriss run shows complications associated with the discovered broken geometry. To account for that without forcing a rerun of the course, I've granted the CMDR a 1-minute time reduction for the run.

Since I'm obviously a glutton for punishment (which I blame mainly on a track designer who includes no fewer than three required jumps in a course on a >4g world):

Heh, Ceres Tarn is just a warm up compare to Weber Legacy. :)

In the (inevitable) spirit of learning as we go along, I'm making a minor course adjustment to Ceres Tarn. At the spot marked "Squeeze through pipes" it is no longer required that you navigate the small, hidden gap in the corner of the two pipe structures. Going around both set of pipes is acceptable. I'll get a new map uploaded done in the next day or so.

Leaderboard updated again, for CMDR Samwell Drakhyr's second run of the day, and to include some formatting improvements.
