Community Event / Creation Asp Explorer 3d model - WIP

That is quite incredible work there pal! Really puts the ship into perspective with the silhouette at the door.

Can't really say more except impressive job. Be sure to add human elements, hand holds, access hatches, etc. Mechanical doodads that you've done is great.

Are you doing the interior as well?

How do you feel she's coming along, ian?

Have you been doing modelling and CGI for long?

What drew you to the AspX?

(Many, many years ago, I mucked around with a piece of raytracing software for the Amiga, called Imagine. I was never much good but I was hooked, especially when I saw CG on TV - brilliant stuff like seaQuest DSV and Babylon 5! Around the late 90s I got the chance to play with 3D Studio Max and Lightwave, and even tried a demo of Rhino, but never really took my experiments beyond making some bad Star Trek pictures with other people's meshes and a few primitive attempts to model the 1960s Enterprise and her lost 1970s incarnation. Oh, and the TARDIS!

I was blown away by the original stuff that guys in communities like Scifi-Art and 3D Gladiators were pumping out. There was even a guy who was doing the interiors and exteriors of ships from the Traveller RPG. I keep meaning to pick up Blender and give it a go, see if I can get some of the stuff out of my mind's eye down onto the virtual page!)

I love this, great to see 3d models with such depth, i cant help thinking 3d printed and painted it would look great next to my Ships and other Sci Fi stuff.

Thanks again for your comments!
@Polygonal. I model on Blender 3d since 2-3 years, but I'm not so studious.
I choose the Asp because the main shape is simple and I didn't want to spare too much time on it, also this is one of my favorite ship ingame.

Starting details below the ship:
