PvP my first CG death tonight

Not get get Gud, but Get Popcorn. Pizza ordered with Domino's!

Pizza's just arrived, shame as another 10 mins and i would have got a free order!

Now where are we with this post? We into tossing insults yet, as we must be nearly at bottom of page 1???

I'll try to put this as polite as possible: You went to a CG system, in open, therfore you were attacked by griefers. Cause and effect. That's just how it is.

They attacked you because they can, and they would do it again.
They were there, because they knew that someone like you will be there, some easy prey.

Complaining about it, is like complaining that you went for a walk during rain and got wet.
If you have to go out during rain, take an umbrella.

OP, sorry to hear of your encounter. but as Algormatic says, it is part of the game. Of course these exceptional players who attacked you only chose you because they knew they had superior ships. They will rarely, if ever, interdict a ship that has a chance of fighting back - that goes against the bully code of dishonour. And that is basically what they are, school yard bullies who can only get enjoyment by taking something from someone weaker. They're not interested in the 'manly and chivalrous' 1 v 1 PvP combat we are always hearing about (if that actually exists outside of the three or four here who are always quoting it), they search out the weak and the defenceless solely for their own enjoyment.

Would it have even mattered if the OP's ASP had shields or not, I was under the impression the these fine examples of PvP tend to have fully engineered everything as a matter of course.

Of course it does.

My travel asp would generally be unkillable.

Also, flying without shields is like blood in the water for the sharks at the CG (Except for the FAS and DBS, would could be hull tanks).

No ship (available to a player that is) is 'unkillable'! Remember, you can't wake out of a fight, that is unsportmanlike

Killing other players is an intended game mechanic, it doesnt disrupt them in any way.
No difference from being shot/shooting at NPCs.

Pvp is allowed in open mode in any shape or form.

Not quite - pvp is most definitely not allowed if it constitutes griefing or harassment. Not saying that's the case in the OP's situation, but it is most definitely not true that pvp is allowed in 'any shape or form'.

If im in a travel or exploration asp, the last thing the ganker will see before I high wake is "Suck it nerd!" in chat.

But you can't wake out, that is so unsportsmanlike according to the PvP'ers, you would be ridiculed on their forums, laughed at behind your back ... oh wait, none of that matters does it lol. And yes, I would do exactly the same thing, completing the mission or self-imposed tasks (as in exploration) over-rides their infantile ideals that we must all play by their rules.

I always wonder why people make these threads... like from what I see its to do nothing more but moan, OP you could at least ask for some help in regards to how you could of survived.

If you desire to know how you could of survived it might help if you by any chance have video of the encounter that you could post, builds of your ship would help too or even the ships that attacked you.

I don't fly the ASP but I am quite sure I could make an exploration ASP able to survive a full of SDC in a wing of 4 FDLs

FDEV has to define "griefing", until that happens this word is subjective and has no meaning.

interesting responses here. support, sympathies, disdain, insults, mocking. about what I would expect from any gaming forum, and an insight to the people mechanics behind the player base.

My point though, which a few have recognised and a few have wilfully ignored is this: why bother being a griefer?

Engineering is a big pain in the backside. things to collect, people to see RNG to deal with. and yet at the end of it, all these people do is hunt down ships they know they won't have any trouble destroying.

So why bother? what's the point of going to all that effort and then not taking on a ship which might be a challenge?

Although I do get that my creating this thread might indeed be reward enough for them, which honestly, if that turns out to be true, is somewhat pathetic.

It takes all sorts to create an mmo, from the team players to the solo players and down to the bottom of the barrel where the griefers live.

This is basically what my run around asp looks like: https://eddp.co/u/cWCb4mFS

I'd give myself a decent chance of living against a wing of 4 long enough to high wake out.

Still jumps 42ly with a pretty crappy FSD roll.

Most gankers are actually Pvpiers, they kill weaker ships when there is nothing else to do or noone to fight.

Actually ALL gankers are PvP'ers by definition gankers only kill another Commander so that means PvP, not PvE- right!
