People opinion will ruin this game.

People opinion might save it, if the Devs will listen.

But my opinion only. Nobody elses's. Everyone else are idiots who are clueless about game design. Only I know how to make a good game!!! Me me me! :D (erm... just to be safe, ill add a /s - don't want anyone taking this seriously)

Also, wasn't aware the game needed saving. Is this like how Chris Roberts said he was going to save PC gaming?

Opinions are like Bum holes - every one has one and sometimes they stink. The joy of the internet is some one drops a eyebrow melter of a opinion it can cause people to gag halfway across the world. TBH the opinions on this forum aren't to bad at times not like the toxic sea that is WG forums, pop into WoT and say I love artillery and watch the pillars of salt and rabid frothing of mouths

Some times I wish FD wouldn't listen to players.

Just noticed that the "Snake in" missions have all been corrected to "Sneak". This didn't need to be done. I always took it as blackmarket type slang. Might have to start a rage thread!!!

Never liked that myself. Also worth remembering there are non native speakers who play who can be really confused by slang, and while it adds to the atmosphere, is probably best avoided where possible.

Elite Dangerous started as a Swiss watch...

Well, I am completely against "people" imposing their tastes and opinions on a project that does not belong to them. (No, it does not belong to us, it belongs to David Braven, we only pay movie tickets for YOUR movie "it's metaphor")

It's like Tolkien had written The Lord of the Rings asking people what they wanted them to say or not. "What a it would have been".

Elite Dangerous started and started as a Swiss watch, since they started doing what the people going downhill asked for.

So how should we feel about your opinion of the game? :)

You should take a look at FunCom & Conan. _ How a company basically went from triple A to bust, because they didn't listen to the players. What was started out as 'best of breed' AAA MMOrpg went from millions of sales to 'free to play' because of not listening to the playerbase.

For sure, you can't do everything the base wants, but you should at least listen, take notes, and compromise with what you can deliver rather than just delivering what you say so.

Players can be a fickle bunch. Don't give them the game they want and they go elsewhere. And so does your money.

the problem is what parts of the player base do they listen to because half of us want polar opposite stuff to the other half

that said... of course FD should listen, but they should not be pressured.
imo FD have already laid out the plans of a pretty bloody amazing game in the DDF, and that should ALWAYS be their 1st port of call when deciding how to implement a feature.
if the DDF is lacking in an area, then they can maybe look for help on the forums

but right now sometimes the stuff they post here seems like they are asking for advice for stuff that they already have really cool ideas for that they have not tried out.

and IF a feature in the DDF is not doable, then imo FD should be more clear

ie "we looked at the DDF for npc wings and we feel it is not what the player base want and wont get used enough to justify the considerable work we would need to put in, so, with this in mind, how you would like to see wings improved" (just an example, no bias at all from me :D )

People's opinions are ruining this game! Even yours! Or maybe not.

Well...
It was a kickstarter and they did ask for Opinions. Alot. And promised they'll implement most of it after finding the "people's opinions" were very good.

Don't quite remember LOTR being a Kickstarter with a public DDF.

What happens if People Opinions aren't polled around here?
- CQC
- PowerPlay
- total lack of Crime & Punishment
- original Engineers
- RNG
- MultiPew
- current state of Exploration
- entirely out-of-whack Weapon Stats (DPS, Special Effects)
- severe and gross imbalancing issues
- Mission System failures
- tons of bugs
(and then some more)

I'd say this Project needs solid feedback and suggestions for fixes/improvements/concepts more than any other I know of.
In the very few cases they've done it right - asking during the concepting Phase - the results improved drastically.
That for example is why the current "Beyond : feedback for upcoming ideas" might prove to be a proverbial lifesaver.
(and on top : anytime a feature or a setting is decided on by the Community, it might still suffer critique - but this time around the Community is the one who decided. Frontier is off the hook on these, which I think they'd appreciate once in a while.)

The thing is, I think FD would disagree with you OP. They've said many, many times that they love the feedback, and that they listen to us and that it has made the game better. ED wasn't a swiss watch when it started, it was a shell of what it is now, lacking soooooooo much. Also, things like power play or cqc were not requested by players, and they are not the shining jewels of this game. What players have really been requesting since this game started is to flesh out the core systems of the game like trading, mining, and of course exploring, and now FD are finally listening.

I would agree if Mr Brabben would have sold us a "finished" product so every one knows what he is buying but as he decided to ask for money on a "vision" the things are different...

Tolkien wouldn't have needed to ask, he had a good story and knew how to tell it.

It began more like a Swiss Cu_ckoo clock and not a lot has changed since, it has a nice sounding Cu_ckoo though and it looks good.

and Brett if you're reading Cu_ckoo properly spelled gets trapped by the swear filter? really?

Though peoples opinions are by no means always for the best they can help on occasion, after all those same opinions stopped Frontier from a mistake in the ship naming shenanigans!
