General / Off-Topic Ooooo my wife's gonna regret saying that!

Chatting with my wife last night, talking about redecorating various rooms and I mention that I'd a little "mancave" for all my stuff (Xbox, hotas etc.) When she popped up
"Well we don't really use the box room, you could always use that"

I don't think she realises what she's set in motion!
It's only a box room but I'm thinking fully fitted cockpit!
So many plans to make [hotas]

Just a few ideas for you. My mancave is as 30ft long, 14ft wide. Guitars, keyboard, 58" 4k tv, ps4pro, sunblock blackout curtains and 5.1 surround sound system. Oh and mandatory german shepherd for company/security. The missus is allowed in to bring coffee :D . Start small and then (expand) she'll never notice

Start small: Exclusion zone, service hatch.

I spent the summer converting the garage into my new man cave as she wanted the box room for a nursery. Well worth the effort i got wall mounted 55inch sony 4k tv full surround sound xb1x and a double door fridge freezer full of peroni i even put in air con for the 1 week of summer the uk gets lol.

Seems like alot of money for what's essentially a bunch of MDF nailed to a chair!
Although it does look cool

Please bare in mind, I'm a console player....my funds are limited.
Besides, I could perhaps fit the fridge in but not much else, my little room is 10x5 with a built in cupboard in one corner, I'm thinking more along the lines of, chunky worktop along one wall for my Xbox, keyboard, and laptop up one end, 32 inch led TV on the wall at convenient eye height, mini fridge underneath (the worktop), racing style chair with reclining feature. Shelving for my niknaks that had been previously retired due to clashing with the decor.

Oh and a really big lock to keep the kids out! (One of which is in his twenty's, and should really know how to treat my stuff by now!)
Essentially, there's just enough space for my few bits and some space for if I'm building a model, I already foresee my daughter calling it my den of geek

That's exactly how i started out. But you gotta think BIG man. When you boot your 20yr old son out for direspecting your stuff, take his room too.
I have MANLAND and the missus has LADY LOUNGEROOM. When we bought the house it WAS a sunroom. Yeh right:rolleyes:

Not that wise to the world are you sir?

What woman says and then what happens.

1st: Just like she can say what she likes; she can change her mind, just as easily.

2nd: It could be that the rest of the house, is now 'hers' to do what she wises with.

3rd: it is OK to consider the box room as your space; as long as it is how she wants it, or it is still the box room and so, the place for the house cast-offs, that last step, before the bin.

I could go on, but I'll leave it there, would not want to get too political.

Edit:- Resonantly I have decided that if I ever get a man cave, it is going to be, in a boat.
