But, but, you didn't include stats for those who aren't playing ED.
When ED came out in 2014, the world population was 7.1 billion. In 2017, it increased to 7.6 billion. None of these new humans are playing ED. No, not one.
So, we've lost 500 million potential ED players in the last 3 years.
Stats don't lie. (But I might).
I don't even think it will be that long ... so I'll say 10 days ...

And yes, this thread serves pretty much no purpose. Which is why it fits right in.
In my eyes very much alive. you play the game the way you want, it's open with no end or linear path.
I hate games with linear paths forcing you down a route. If you don't collect x then y door will not open. If you get to y to early then you are stuffed.
Elite is great with a great community. Some people not happy because they not spoon fed etc
I love it, and think this year its going to get even better
The only thread type to trump the "The game is dying" category is the "Up yours naysayers *insert random statistics*" category.
Response threads are inevitable. There are people (both posters and counter-posters) who aren't aware that "X is dying" threads are a staple of internet forums. People who like to yell at the sky for years until they're proved right by the mere passage of time are a popular feature in all human groups; it must be an effort vs validation equation. Their flipside are the people who must defend that which is either indefensible or just doesn't require defense. Internet groups about video games are particularly susceptible.
This topic (among a few others around here) is a carousel made of dead and abused animals. I'm just here for the cotton candy. I suggest to anyone not interested in watching people use the same numbers to justify polarized viewpoints for another 80 pages to rocketsnail on this topic and leave it to hardcore riders.

Is RocketSnail one of the new ships? Or is it the Cobra 4?![]()
Those statistics clearly state a drop of 600 by peak player numbers compared to the beginning of the year. Following this trend Elite Dangerous will be dead in the water twenty years down the road.
We should be worried and panic over this immediate catastrophe.

So who's starting the pool on when the first "This game is dead/dying" thread for 2018?
Imma say ... 17 days.
