General / Off-Topic What book would you like to see made into a film?

Out of interest, have you ever read it? It's horrendous.

Horrendous literature has the most room for improvement in the translation to film.

I'm usually dissapointed by the film version of good literature, but all that would need to happen here is something suitably vile to land an NC-17 rating, get banned in most places with lax protections for freedom of expression, and have a production values higher than a Jesús Franco flick.

I think I'll take a pass on this one if you don't mind :) (no pun intended)

'The Bear and the Dragon' - a Tom Clancy novel (Jack Ryan series); although films rarely live up to the book

Been re reading these and was lucky enough to see the Stage Play with Paul Darrow of Blake's 7 playing the lead.

"Metro 2033" by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

Already a brilliant game from it, with more to come. I think a good director could do it justice.

I would like for it to have Russian actors speaking Russian. Same way as I play the game. Russian voice, English subtitles. Obviously I read the book in English.

Peter F. Hamilton's Commonwealth Saga would be interesting - I find his space opera style a bit boombastic and generally prefer darker and/or harder SF, but yeah. The battle scenes in Pandora's Star would make good viewing, relativistic projectiles coming out of wormholes and all.

That would definitely need the Expanse-style TV treatment to do it justice.
