I would recommend that you contact them through the support site and open a ticket there.

You could name a commander with some nice words to him like "In Memory of ...". Then get an exploration hauler and fly to a lonely non-explored star, scan it, return and claim it for him. In this way there would be a star for him forever in ED universe.
