No support for noobs

Apparently, no one is actually reading my posts so that they can be "approved" so I'm just going to go ahead and keep creating threads until you either refund my money or let me get some assistance from other players.

I get that this is a beta, but without forum access ( I can't even reply), an instruction manual or in-game chat, <Removed ~Brett C>.

Thanks for taking my money but I'm quickly regretting this.

I think I'll make a Shadowplay video showing all the trouble I'm having along with proof of the complete lack of support.

Stay tuned for youtube.

You won't actually read this anyway, it doesn't really matter if I act <Removed ~Brett C>.

Suck it!

ED is a hard game, the information is out there and there are a ton of video's. You have been playing for all of 90 min, according to your post history, take some time and just try and learn the game. This is beta, tutorials and such will not be in the game.

You have replies to your previous threads and most of your questions, but you need to a) Keep calm, its a bit of a learning curve and b) Be specific with your questions.

I also suggest playing through the single player scenarios first until you feel comfortable, it doesn't matter if you master all of them.

As the game hasn't released yet I am sure they'll be taking feedback for a tutorial in-game very seriously, but right now we're lacking features.

Our progress to date will be undergoing wipes throughout this period, you have nothing to lose.

good luck with the youtube video, shame you didnt have a look on there before posting as if you had you would of seen the hundreds nay thousands of instructional and gameplay vids put up by the users as well as Dev diary's and fiction diary's that FDev put up on their YT account.

as it is hardly anyone is ever going to see your rant as anyone searching YT for ED videos is going to find thousands of them, yours is going to get a little swamped.

now, to cover your other concerns, 1st posts have to be authorised by moderators to prevent spam among other things (if you'd run a forum you would know this.) the moderation team are ordinary people who give up their own free time to help keep this forum a nice place to visit, they dont get paid for it.

apart from that with the release of the standard beta this forum has seen an explosion in the number of users, the day beta came out we nearly trebled the most users online at a time and as you can imagine the mods have been snowed under ever since. taking a few hours to authorise you to post is a miracle rather than something to be criticised for - especially on a Sunday!

take a chill pill, come back in a few days and post in a reasonable manner, describing the issues you're having and you will get more help than you know what to do with.

When you first register with the forums, it asks that you post in the "Introductions" section.

This allows the very active forum moderators and related people to see you, and see that you are new.

They then kindly post up a large amount of linked reference material for you to peruse.

It seems you did not follow that recommendation. Instead, you have tried to figure it all out by yourself. When that approach failed, you seem to have become very aggressive.

Despite your attitude ("Suck it"? Really?), I hope that you find the reference material you need. Hint: Look at other peoples' "Welcome" threads in the Introductions section of this forum.

EDITED: Saw his other threads and re-read his post.

Regards to the harvester, I believe a person replied, by saying that you have to hunt it for yourselves.
By going to different starports, and finding the correct one.

Regards to your request for the auto-dock, another replied that you need to save enough money to have the upgrade for your ship.

Regards to not slowing down in time, take a detour by turning in another direction and turning back after your speed starts to calm down. It takes some practice

I believe they answered to your queries if that is what you are asking, they might have take some time and also a few post later though.

You got informative, helpful replies to your posts on this forum within 24 hours. If that's not good enough, nothing ever will be. But go ahead and post your "proof" if you want to. At least it'll be good for a laugh.

Ah, so he was upset that his first posts were in the "moderator approval" queue.

The queue that is used to trigger the nice new-player welcoming message when posting to the "Introductions" section... as per the on-screen request when he registered.

Maybe I could make a YouTube video showing me browsing all the replies and assistance from Frontier Support Desk staff, in every one of my 75+ raised tickets. It would be about as exciting as zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........

There's tons of support/tips/guides here, they just take a bit of effort to find/read/learn from. This is a hard game, it takes a bit of effort to learn.

I think you bought the wrong game  (getting sick of the constant whinging in this forum since Beta dropped)

I don't think it's all that hard for a noob, at least the basics. From installation to making trade runs was about 2 hours learning. For example super cruise is fine it just takes a few runs to get the hang of it. I've been playing 3 days and I have a hauler and 250k credits and I haven't died yet. So I'm not feeling a lot of sympathy for the OP or anyone else crying about how impossible it is.

There is plenty of support. How too videos, how too posts, prompt answers to questions here on the forums. I just had a problem with my new HOTAS and was helped here on the forum within minutes. OP, I don't get your problem. What exactly do you expect? Yeah make your video. Be sure to post a link.

EDIT: I suppose I should cry and moan because I put in for a commander name Friday afternoon and here it is Sunday and it hasn't been approved. What the hell do they do take weekends off or something?

I've found the forum community are a friendly and helpful bunch, even in the face of trolls trying to provoke criticism of star citizen and people who think if they don't like one aspect of the game then it is utterly doomed.

They deserve questions and feedback to be friendly and respectful.

Thanks for all the replies. Now I feel like an @$$ because honestly I thought the posting feature was broken.

I just wanted some tips on starting first missions and how to start off. This message was like 5 or 6 in my attempt to either post a thread or ask a question on another thread.

It's not that I have anything against a beta; I just rely on community support when in-game doesn't exist.

We need a "How to" forum with Dev/Mod only create threads that explain the basics.

Ship buying, outfitting, insurance, finding distress signals, couple of examplir mission walkthroughs, collecting bounties, raising tickets, ship specs, upgrade specs etc.

Without this, new backers, unless they are forum junkies will feel the game is bad...when its not...its splendid.

It will also help people raise proper bug's rather than reporting misunderstandings.

Its ok to say....this is how you trade now...there is more coming.

Come on FD....your engineering is brilliant....community support and marketing really needs a step up.

I agree^^

Its not the most fun thing in the world to have to trawl through a busy forum, looking for snippets of really useful info. That's why Stickies were invented.

I know some may think those people are being lazy, but I don't agree.

A resource section is a must, and it must be headed by a collated stickie which governs the basics so new players can look if they come here, and learn something.

It may also save the mods some work in the long run by potentially cutting down on repeated and confused (and frustrated) threads asking basic questions (to us experienced players).

OP - This may be a good start for you - http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=29256

Thanks! That vid thread is actually a huge help. I've finally started being able to accept missions (I find it strange that some of the first missions you can actually take due to jump limitations are dogfighting - the Sideweiner basically dies instantly when an enemy arrives) and have taken to using Slopey's tool: http://www.oisltest.com/DM/BPC/Default.aspx to find what is profitable to buy and then sell at the next station I'm headed to.

Just made about 15k in 10 minutes!! I was able to buy a single gun upgrade for my Sideweiner lol.

Yeah, very useful videos. Give the OP of that thread some rep as well, as it will have taken him some time to plan and do it. :)

Slopeys Tool is very useful, and great to get started, some players may even want to use it all the time if they are the Min/Maxi types of players.

If you want to trade manually, I've written my little routine down in a few posts before and its worth doing, if you want to go out there off your own back, rather than using an out of game tool, not that I'm criticising those.

FTR I never make a loss doing this...

1. When you look at the commodity page, look for

a) what you can afford

b) what is in high supply (Medium is ok too but less profit)

c) what is in low demand (Ideally None)

If all three above are good to go, look at the Galactic Average and you should see you have a bargain.

2. Go to the Galactic Map, View tab and select 'Map'. Select Show Trade Routes and underneath that use the arrow next to the type of goods in the list and it will list every individual good under that type.

If you filter the trade list in the galaxy map this way, the galaxy map will show which routes are advised for profit for that particular item.

3. Now go to the Navigation tab and see which systems are in need of the particular item you have identified and now filtered solely on that page.

Check the Navigation pane to see how many jumps are required.

4. So, in summary, you have selected an item at a cheap price, you have checked which system will buy it, and whether it is reachable / worth the trip.

5. So go there and sell (check to make sure you ARE making a profit before you hit the confirm button).

If you have followed the above you will, as our old friends in the Underpant Gnomes Alliance would say...Profit.

It may be more work than Slopeys Tool, but its a great feeling when you may that killer profit, and you know you found that yourself.

Happy flying CMDR
