Chieftain is about 28M fully loaded.

Hi all, some further speculation from the live stream, the ship has thus:

Hardpoints: 2x large 1x medium 3x small
4x Utility mounts
core: 6 Power plant 6 Thruster 5 Frame Shift Drive 6 Power Distributor
Internals compartments: 5,5,4,2,2 Military compartments: 4,4,4
Jump range on ship shown in the stream with 5A FSD: 20LY
Pad Size: Medium
NO SLF

and with the outfit screen showing an insurance buyout of 1.3M, should likely place this at about 28M fully combat loaded. Now this is still supposedly going to get messed about with for balance purposes between now and launch of the ship, so what do you think?

Thanks to KillerSpud and wjfox2009 from Reddit for the info and jpeg.

Beta (so I assume also pre beta or hot builds) tend to have cheaper ships, I'm not saying I'm sure that's the case here, but something to consider. With such great everything (hardpoint quantity and placement, agility, power plant, thrusters, it's the new most combat focused ship in the game), I'd have expected it to be expensive, and the bulks to cost about the same as FGS.

Since we're talking about stats, it also showed 327.8 MJ shielding with a 5A shield and 2x A-class boosters.

Given the hull mass listed on your screenshot, we should be able to work out the base shield multiplier and so the current pre-beta shield values for c5 bi-weaves, base without boosters, or whatever else.

Well, we know the costs of a lot of those parts already:

6A thrusters, power - ~16 mil each
5A engine, shield, FSD - ~ 5 mil each

Just those parts alone are we know are gonna run ~ 47 mil (assuming no wild prices changes are intended to go live, I guess), so based on that, we can pretty safely assume some beta pricing is taking place.

^What he said... plus a minimum base price of ?20-25 million (FAS/Clipper range)... plus minimum ?45 million for proper armour plating (FAS range)... plus weapons, utilities, etc =100+ million range (without discounts).

Ignoring the Beta Prices usually being 10%
Didn't they also say please note prices are still being balanced and not final

Chieftain is about 28M fully loaded.

This ship should cost around double that amount.
I think a price approaching that of the FDL would be fair.
This is a top of the line medium combat vessel.

Thanks for sharing these informations. But what´s the ship´s purpose? I´ve got no idea yet for what reason I should try it instead of my Python?!?

Oh, you know what?

The 10% beta price being the issue makes no sense I think, because that puts the price of the thing far too high.

I bet what happened here is that the ship was outfitted via their fancy command-line tool, and that probably adds items at zero cost - because when you're just using it for testing, why add an item cost too? That's just pointless hassle.

So I bet the 28 mil estimate is actually just the base cost of the stock ship, because all the modules are zero-cost.

That would make sense, and fit right in to its functionality range.

If I'm right on that, then the outfitting we saw is... likely going to add about 50 mil, give or take a few million.

Which would give us a total cost there of about 78 million. Which fits nicely in with the Clipper / FAS tier, which is exactly what I would expect.

As a new viable ship in combat, especially PVP. Everyone knows python is not that good in PVP, especially in wing fights.

Just for the record .. I think that would risk introducing bugs. Better to use a dev code and give yourself a gazillion credits .. money's still no object but you're not mucking around with the game parameters too much. o7

I think it will come in around 200m full spec. It's a total guess.

For a medium ship?
Never.

Ditto.

Beta ship prices are always 10% of the full price. Sometimes even cheaper than that. Since the Chieftain's final release price has yet to be finalized, they might make it even cheaper so more players can afford to try it out.

As for the final in-game cost. I expect it to be maybe ¾ the price of a similarly equipped Python. Give or take a few million since it does have less slots than a Python does.

They might even give everyone a deal and make it 50% cheaper than a Python.
