The Painite crash of Jan 19th

Was the same in Bhotho late last night.

I wonder if it's a galaxy-wide trend. Interesting.

I moved over to HIP 93377, but didn't check the market. Will have a look tonight.

Been that way for a few days. One day Painite was 82K in Cubeo. Two days later it was 22K.

Some systems still offer the usual prices. Best bet is check INARA for the best prices near you.

More than most other commodities, Painite does have a tendency to bottom out. My assumption is because demand numbers are generally low, and people like to take advantage of the boom prices.

We would probably see this more with other commodities if Boom painite didn't bring in a 2000% margin over them.

What on earth does anyone do with 100 tonnes of painite anyway? It might be rare, but it doesn't half look dull and useless... at best, a poor man's ruby? Or am I being unfair?

Is it like Kryptonite v the Thargoids?

If you're a miner, you probably roll around in it and possibly do a gold digger's woohoo dance?
Depending on the state of the market obviously.
Painite prices can go up or down. Invest responsibly and don't blame us if the market crashes!

According to Crystal, Painite can open all your chakras, though I'm too young to know what that means. It might also be what's used to make lasers, glow green.

73k would be a fairly typical price during Boom.
17k would be a fairly typical price during War or Outbreak (probably Famine or Bust as well but I don't have data for that).

Repped!

Wikipedia doesn't list any uses. According to the wiki, neither does the description in-game. Just a valuable mineral.

I still think there should be more cool stuff in the roids to find... like other gemstones, pearls, king's cake babies, etc.

Last year, my buddy and I did some merc work for a few PP factions. They'd hire us to pull security in systems where they were expanding. For a week, we'd chase away (or provide rebuys to) any CMDRs not aligned to that faction, in order to make the expansion go smoothly. At the end of the week, we'd provide video proof of kills/high wakes; for each video, the PP groups would pay us in Painite.

We'd meet up at a station, and they would jettison the Painite, which we'd then sell for profit. It's actually a pretty cool method of payments for services in ED.

I was able to sell it in Aenas last night with no issue. I'm guessing it was an issue with previously profitable systems going into a different state.

I have taken a similar payment for Piracy services.

I once had to move nearly 800 tons of posh metal. By the end of it I was literally asking people to help me haul it and letting them keep it because I couldn't face the limpet transfer delay.

It is cool to begin with though. Feels like you've hit the big time when it rains Panite...

Do prices change when a faction controlling a station is in Boom, Bust, or No status? If so, could be that a faction exited a boom and the prices tanked? I don't really pay much attention to prices other than to see if I'm making somewhat of a profit out of it.

Yes they do. You can use https://eddb.io/commodity/83 to find the best prices at any given time. Sometimes the prices aren’t 100% up to date, but usually you can trust them.

Yes, pearls that grow in those space mussels!!

(You do realize that a pearl is not a mineral or element right?)
