Sell me a "big three" ship

Anaconda.

God ship. Jump range, DPS, bulk passenger missions, large cargo, tons of internals. Use it as storage if you don't like it.

I personally am not a fan of the big ships, but there's no denying they are a class above the rest for hauling cargo. If you find yourself putting on a podcast/music and just want to zen out carrying cargo from one space port to the next, there's nothing that's going to make more money than the big guys.

I'm not sure what the money making meta is right now in the game since I haven't played much lately, so I can't say definitely you make the most money in these ships. But they are still the best traders in the game.

I say that with the caveat that you're not hauling slaves to small space ports with only medium pads. Python for that.

I have no Empire rank at all so the cutter is out, it's a conda, vette or Type 10....but why?

dunno ... curiosity?

i like small ships. bought a conda and it's allright, used it now and then, mainly for mining, still have it parked somewhere.

was this advice useful to you?
hey, it's free!

Economy class passengers, I believe... from some place in the middle of nowhere to another system next door, but with a station about half the distance of Hutton. Of course, passengers to Hutton might pay loads, and you can get your anaconda on arrival... oh wait, skip that, no large pads... dammit

Cutter. You will be able to haul 760 tons of cargo with a 5A reinforced prismatic shield and 7 heavy boosters, easily scoring high in any trade CG while feeling safe behind your 4500 shield. In battle config a cutter is a sight to behold. I usually fly my battle cutter to a CG and ship over the trade modules, and do both the trade and bounty hunting CGs.

*crazy music plays*

Come on down to honest Gans big 3 battlewagon bonanza, where we have only the finest large ships for the commander who wants it large!

Tired of having to choose between power and space? Why choose when you can have it all?

Want shields that make people cry? No problem!

Want huge weapons! Come to daddy!

Simply want to cram in as many people as possible? Yes sir!

Yes! Come on down, and bag yourself a bargain today!

Warning: large ships combat performance may vary | Rank lock can cause hair loss and low appetite | Performance against medium combat ships not guaranteed | price of A grade internals may induce vomiting

Anaconda.

+No rank grind required, and no cash grind if you have it already.

+SLF capable. So funzies with NPC's and Multicrew.

+Fully adaptable ship design. Mine can flick from exploration, to trade, to mining, to heavy combat. Or a mix of all of it.

+With DD5, she's quite fast and agile.

+With Engineering, she's got virtually impenetrable shields, so armour isn't needed. So she stays fast and agile, and jumps well.

+Fitted with multicannons, pulse lasers and Packhounds makes for fun, if not totally efficient combat.

-cant land on medium pads.

:D

The other two aren't worth the grind IMHO.

I've got all three and all are engineered well, I do fly my Python the most though, it's just the most pleasant and flexible ship you can buy.
If I had to make a choice though then it would definitely be the Corvette, combat, 380 tons cargo, 36 first class cabins, maneuverable, slf, you can do everything with it.
That jumprange though.

The Annie is probably the all round best ship in the game, it's one weakness is the large landing pad requirement. In general all of your current ships can do everything adequately, but the big three will allow you to excel. The Annie specifically is brilliant for long range exploration, it has everything you will ever need. People say "oh, well you don't need a big FSD for exploration" but they're only saying it to justify the fact that they are flying some awful pile of crap. Like a DBE.

With all that said, if you are genuinely not sure of why you would want one of the big three then why fix what isn't broken? Your AspX for example may edge out the Annie for you personally, if you really enjoy flying it. You wouldn't want to spend all that time engineering up your new ship's modules only for buyer's remorse to set in. You say you got oodles of cash, but you would still need to make arrangements for engineering everything.

Conda is a good engineering platform.

8 weapons from small to huge, class 5-7 thrusters, all distributors, class 3-7 shields, 8 utilities, lots of internals for HRPs or SCBs.
Even after you stuffed everything you need to mod into it, you probably still have room for scanners and an SRV bay plus a 1000mj+ shield.
And you still have about 50ly jump range.

I have the big four, because what to use your credits on otherwise, but I only ever use my conda for hauling 170+ passengers for those 100M/hour trips to raise cash. Other than that I can do everything in an Asp, courier and FDL.

I can suggest getting the Orca. It's basicaly a faster and more maneuvrable AspX, really fun to fly vs the laggy asp. Basically the same loadout but needs large landing pads.

Thanks for the feedback.

My initial thought is to get the conda as it's multirole and with a bit of engineering can be fairly mobile to get around the bubble and get to those CGs.

I'm also not a fan of Empire ships so that's another reason why the cutter takes a back seat. Not keen on the looks of the T10.

So it's really the conda or vette.

At this point I'm thinking it's really so I can experience flying a big ship...that's the best I can come up with but if I can find a real use for it that would be a bonus.

I will take a different approach, and make an appeal from a more practical direction - currently, they are easily obtained assuming you have the credits, and the time for the two that are Rank-locked.

This might not always be the case, so I would say buy the Corvette now, if only for that reason.

Can't answer that last question for you, as it's a personal decision. However, I personally have had all three and the only one I have left is the Corvette.

You say that your FDL can take on just about anything in PvE. So can mine. But my Corvette can take on anything. Period. I show up in him and just kill everything in sight. Some would call it boring, but I call it fun. :)

Once engineered, it handles like my engineered Python. I have both configured as armed traders and fly them both, even though I do spend most of my time nowadays in my Corvette. It cannot land at outposts, and my Python has a 6Ly advantage in jump range, but my Corvette has a much nastier bite for those NPC pirates stupid enough to interdict him.

SC handling is the best of the big three and quite comfortable for sightseeing. Normal space handling is good enough that I don't need turrets, nor a SLF to hold my own in a fight, although the SLF does add some fun to the carnage. Can't say that about either of the other two. I have two huge G5 overcharged w/autoloader MCs up top and they literally hammer through anything. Add long range burst lasers everywhere else and nothing lasts for very long.

My FDL now spends it time collecting dust at Jameson...

Just one person's experience. :D

I think this sums it up real well. I'm in my Corvette 99% of the time.

The only agro about it is the jump range, if it could do 25 ly heavy it would be fantastic. A great ship.

I didn't like combat (bounty hunting etc) at all, until I got an Anaconda. Spaceships dogfighting like aircraft just doesn't seem right to me, and it was hectic in Cobra and FDL. Once I had an Anaconda gun platform with turret weapons it seemed more interesting.

Well, if you get the Anaconda, you'll have the full collection of Mary Sue multiroles with no character ;).

And unlike the Corvette... You will never experience the awesome feeling of power with TWO Side by Side 4A Beam Lasers that can hold their fire on your target for as long as you choose to hold down the trigger.

I own TWO Anacondas and I really like this ship, but when it comes to raw combat... The Corvette kicks it to the curb and then some! ;)

Well ya know, the corvette is a gunship (barely... I'd say gun-boat), whereas the anaconda is just a freighter, no matter that some smaller navies use it in a cruiser role.

There is a misconception about this. Anaconda is multi-role, but that doesn't mean it can do everything. It can do whatever you build it for, and only that.
