General / Off-Topic What movie remake would you like to see?

Today's actors are whispering instead of talking and overdone CGI is preferred over good characters and conversations. The dumping of gore and merciless killings in TV series is also depressing.

If anything, I'd want a reboot of the comedy genre (like those of Leslie Nielsen, or a new Spaceballs) to make fun out of today's hilariously bad movies.

Couldn't read it. Never been able to get on with PKD's books.
"Valis" is a bit heavy going, but his short stories get you into his sense of humour without some of his ideas getting bogged down with convoluted plots.

Thought provoking stories, but presented quite badly in places.
The "Electric Dreams" short story series was excellent. Some of the adaptations were better than others, but they shared the same property as their source material. It was worth watching the less interesting stuff to see the brilliant ideas.

Thanks for that, I didn't know about them (don't watch much telly).

I'm a huge P K fan, but I acknowledge that sometimes he can be hard work but it's always worth it. Terry Pratchett was similar for me I tried his books 3 or 4 times and just couldn't understand the fuss, then they just clicked one day and suddenly were excellent. It didn't help that I started with Pyramids which isn't one of his best, the one that clicked was Guards Guards.

I read "The Colour of Magic" when it first came out. I enjoyed it, but was fairly dismissive of it. I thought of him as just a Douglas Adams clone.

I started to read all his books when he became very active on CIX. It would have seemed rude not to. He always had time for his fans. I realised he was something special when I read "Small Gods".

I guess the think with Pratchett's that he's very prolific. Just by the laws of averages you're bound to find a book of his that you like.

Probably Star Wars for me, apart from the incredible original trilogy, all the other films have so far failed to even come close, so i'm in the market for a 'real' continuation of 'Star Wars Original Series' :)

The Lord of the Rings trilogy condensed into a single movie of normal duration, cutting out all the babbling and shoddy effects of the Jackson attempts.

Have you not read the books! He cut out quite a bit as it is! I suppose you mean a 'lens flare' edition for the masses of today perhaps, get Disney and JJ.Abrams to do it? Just fast moving action scenes etc (shudder). yuk :(

How could you tell that story in one condensed sitting? Answer: you couldn't.

Avatar: the Last Windbender's a good example of that. 10 hours of the first season condensed down into 90 minutes, not really enough time to properly tell the tale. Forgetting all the other troubles it had, of course, like poor casting, directing, etc, etc, etc...

There's talk of a B5 movie. Loved B5, doubt it could easily make the transition to a movie given those very same issues.
