How much did you earn from long distance passenger missions?

To be honest I have absolutely no idea how much money I made from the runs. I mostly did it on Saturday nights to get some progression in Elite while at the same time getting through the roughly 4-6 hours of interesting YouTube videos from the handful of channels I subscribe to. I probably varied from as little as 20-30m per run to as much as 100m or so since it was mostly about quickly getting stocked and into supercruise then 30 minutes of watching videos, before throttling down taking out the 2-5 interdictors and blowing away their ships (after scanning for bounties) then docking at Smeaton.

Then I'd be off doing the week doing other things (mining, hauling missions, CGs, unlocking engineers, etc) before coming back again the next weekend to do it all again.

Hmm... so from respondents so far, i don't see anyone really saying they still need so much money and many saying they never bothered.

Interesting, almost like there is some sort of alternate reality thing going on around here.

I started as soon as i heard about the Beyond update. I wanted a big pile of credit to be able to fully test out and upgrade the new ships.

Considering the cost of the big 3, i thought that reaching 1 billion credits would be enough to be confortable, so i made around 700 million credits in 15 days, doing 1 to 4 runs a day.

Or the much-vaunted "whiners" are a tiny minority and not representative of the player base as a whole? But that can't be the case, can it?

It's a game after all. The point is to have fun. Doing Smeaton runs is boring, I would only do it until I had enough money to let me have fun.

I only done about 4 runs in my Vette, was good for around 500m, should buy and spec out the new Cheifchin or whatever it's called.

Zero. I've never tried a passenger mission with my main account or any of my alts. It didn't seem like fun to me. But whatever floats your boat.

I dusted off my Beluga and scampered off to Rhea, only to find that the hysteria failed to mention the couple of days required to become allied with the factions and gain access to the spendy missions.
Gave that up as a bad job without even doing a single run to/from wherever it was.

Went to Upsilon Aquarii determined to do enough regular passenger missions to gain the required rank and spent a couple of fun days doing runs to all the nearby systems, as well as picking up the odd mission to Smeaton.
Probably made Cr100m all together.

Trouble was, there was too much interesting stuff happening in the Pleiades so I kept on heading back there to see what was happening and it was easier just to bang in a few hours doing Palin's missions to earn credits instead, so the passenger thing was never a big deal for me.

Or we are wary it is a trick question thread to identify secret "big things" going on elsewhere [where is it]

Cr0, as i consider myself "loosely affiliated" with one of the player factions that struggled hard to maintain control over a system infected by this Credit madness.

Thx for coming, hope to not see you again there (greedy) CMDRs...

MFG

Bulk missions has netted me about 47 million in the past 3 days. Had some accidents relearning to fly and was out of cash....so all I have is 47 million....

Tosh!

Back in the day, VIP Passenger Missions was where it was at! 5-12 MILLION CR to haul a single individual less than 100 Ly to their destination. No sightseeing mission kind of distances. Just a simple A to B and you collected your significant reward.

Made me literally BILLIONS in a matter of a week or two. I'm still sitting on over 5.5 Billion CR in my wallet even after recently buying (2) T-10s and A rating both of them to the max.

Those were the days. :)

About a billion i think on my second account.

I didn't do the show and tell ones though, 40 mins travel was unappealing, but what i really wouldn't do was bounce boards with a chance of not getting any missions as many people on youtube were doing. How horrible. As you do it every time you log in again (2.5 mins) there's a chance you're going to die a little in side if you got no passengers.

So went to the edge of the bubble, found a place with 50k travel and a base which had plenty of passengers to stack. Worked fine.

Hats of to frontier though, they disable the mechanic on the day they tell us engineering is going to be far more time consuming (but easier to understand), sending us running to get that done instead. Genius.

Biggest payout in a single sitting was around 80mil from 3 missions paying 18mil each, all 3 having the same target destination 6kly out.
Honking paid around 20mil going there and back again, was allied with the system and one rank below exploration elite when I took that trip.

I think a bit over 20 million.

And how much more do you need?

Need for what? We'll see how much the Chieftain costs; I'll probably have enough for it. Maybe not fully A rated quite yet though.
