How much did you earn from long distance passenger missions?

0 CR with my main Quantis account. 0 CR with my alt PC account. 0 CR with my PS4 account. ~ 300 million CR with my Xbox One account.

And how much more do you need? :O

I've been doing passenger missions on and off since they were launched. And like many, i took advantage of the long range missions after FD upped the payouts. They helped fund my Type 10.

I did 4 runs to Medb (or is it Mebd?). Averaged 100 million per run, so a total of about 400 million for me.

I stopped when i had enough, so i don't need any more credits now anyway for the forseeable future.

How much did you earn, and how much more would you have needed to be happy?

NOTE!: This is not a thread to debate whether it was a good idea or not to nerf the missions. There are other threads discussing that. This is just to see how much people got and think they still need.

At least 100 million, but these were longer distance passenger missions (>5K LY). Cr/hr wasnt really all that much in hindsight. :p I have a total value of 1.6 billion or so, which is enough to do whatever I want. I'll sell my T10 for the chieftain, and then I will have enough left for a dozen or so insurance rebuys. Normally I fly smaller ships, where pocket change is enough not to care about anything. :D

None I jumped on the quince bandwagon and nearly quit the game taught me to never grind, just do stuff. The only "exploit" I jumped on was robigo but to be honest they were by far my favourite missions in the game and to a degree the risk of being scanned made it feel right.

Now I'm running missions I find interesting and have parked my super conda to use more interesting ships like my fixed weapon fas (first try at fixed) far more fun than 40 mins in super cruise!

I made a billion in around a week with pax missions Parutis -> Medb which helped me finance a Corvette as I unlocked Rear Admiral at the same time doing those pax missions. (4 Fed factions for the win)
Right now I don't really need any more money.
I need mats now.

PS: It was also the first time I ever transported a passenger.
PPS: And probably the last time.

Tosh!

Back in the day, VIP Passenger Missions was where it was at! 5-12 MILLION CR to haul a single individual less than 100 Ly to their destination. No sightseeing mission kind of distances. Just a simple A to B and you collected your significant reward.

Made me literally BILLIONS in a matter of a week or two. I'm still sitting on over 5.5 Billion CR in my wallet even after recently buying (2) T-10s and A rating both of them to the max.

Those were the days. :)

Actually looking forward to going back to doing those. They were fun, you got to see a bit more of the galaxy and they were really useful for creating favor with factions and helping your PMF expand, since they were usually either ++ or +++ inf.

Minus a lot...
I tried a long one, not for the money.. (I justed wanted to try something else.)
And i did enjoyed it, until it ripped the life out of me.......

So... 1 passenger wanted some secret scan data (~33.000 Ly away)
A couple wanted to scan a something (along the way)
Combined round trip was around 66.000Ly..
I thought i go to the furthest one first then swing back for the second.
Made it to the first mission marker (With 97% hull.. Emergency SC drops along the way......), slammed Annie into the planet Due to high gravity (Vertical thrusters where absolutely useless)
Made it back in space with 47% hull remaining..
Did arround 100 jumps back towards the second missions, came to close to a Neutron star.. Emergency dropped and hull went below 45%.
Mission failed 2x.......................

So i ended up wasting hours of jumping from system to system, traveling nearly 43.000Ly..
My missions payout will be exactly 0 credits. (While i completed his scan, so the dude has his "precious" data.....)
Ohh.. and my Repair bill will prob be arround 300k....

And Im still 23.000ly from the bubble...
I Lost my temper... dropped my controller, uninstalled ED and played rocket league :)

I tried it twice, but, realised the cr/hr just didn't come close to 'the other' thing. Not a fan of jumponium and it's just not fun gameplay for me. I'm only bothered about cr / hr in lieu of something interesting, and sadly credits for me is the only measure of progress (at the moment).

Looking forward to the new gameplay / overhaul coming our way.

I've been doing passenger missions since they got introduced. I do them because they are fun (in my opinion). With 2.4 they suddenly payed a lot. I kept doing them.
Earned over 1 billion.
I'll keep doing them even if they currently pay next to nothing compared to what they used to pay.

Hopefully FDev will find a good fix for the long range passenger missions that make those long range trips profitable (compared to quick short range missions that can be done more often in the same time).

And it would be cool if we could get a more low passenger count missions - maybe depending on the cabin installed?. I had the most fun while doing passenger and cargo missions with my DBX and FDS - for that I need missions that have less than 22 passenger, much less in case of the DBX. I would like to get back at being a "bush pilot", transporting some farmers with their goats and sheep ;)

I would love it if that system added a bit more adaptability and flexibility and wasn't fully dependent on the mission board. I might wind up doing nothing else if they did.

How much did you earn from long distance passenger missions?

I made about 2 Billion credits, over a couple of months.

Most of it I spend on (A-rated) ships: before I started I had only a Cobra Mk III (which I had been flying for over 3 years), an Anaconda (which I bought from the earnings of my exploration data a couple of weeks before I started doing long range passenger missions) and a hauler, a Viper Mk III, the free iEagle & a Vulture (the latter 4 ships I almost never used).

Since I was only flying my Cobra Mk III, I had never bothered about earning credits: never did the Luxury Trading, no Robigo/Sothis/Ceos runs, nor slave trading.

An unintended side effect from the Smeaton Orbital runs is that I became Elite Trader (I was Merchant before I started).

The graph (from inara.cz) shows the period from October 2017 (just after buying the Anaconda) until last week (yellow is credits, beige is total assets -- I have no explanation for the two spikes down in the total assets, I guess it is an artifact from how Inara processes selling & buying ship internals, or perhaps from buying/selling a Diamondback Explorer as a taxi while moving ships from Mashburn Station in Kadi to Jameson Memorial and A-rated FSD drives the other way round as those were not available in Kadi):

And how much more do you need? :O how much more would you have needed to be happy?

I now have about 300 Million credits left. Enough to re-buy any of my ships if needed, and probably enough to buy a Chieftain and a Krait when those get released.

I do not need more, since I'm out in the black exploring again. I stopped doing the passenger runs when I was happy about what I had earned a couple of weeks ago.

I never got into those kinds of passenger running missions.

For me, it's always been:

Load up on VIP's taking vacation tours - usually 4-6 at a time, fly around from beacon to beacon, and then take them home.

Payouts for these are typically 40-120m per run, with an average of around 70m, with 7-15 beacons to visit across a few hundred lightyears.
Usually takes around 1-2 hours, and often leads me to find interesting places to revisit, or learns me a bit of the history of the galaxy.

But I don't have that pressing need to min/max my credits-per-hour. I did that already, bought everything at least once, if not twice or even four times over, so for me it's just a chance to relax. The credits, while nice, are incidental.

I agree, the VIP tourism missions are a lot of fun. Nice sightseeing, a bit of history and a few credits for the effort. I like to do them in my long-range DBX one VIP at a time with a lot of lucking around and sightseeing for myself.
