It's only really a problem if you've at some point hit the limit in how many ships you have, and you spend 10 minutes trying to understand why you can't just buy another ship because it won't let you until you realise you're at the limit. [noob]

I'm wondering if people are using their steam time in some cases in which mine would be on Steam just over 1500 hrs, though have played more outside Steam, then it would look like I had made approx (3bill/1500=) 2mill, or less.

For me, not sure as not in game. Estimate my net worth is in the region of 3 billion and total hours played is around 2400 hours.
So 1,250,000 per hour.
Not very representative. About 1 billion of my cash has come from get rich quick schemes.
I'm one of those people who never used any of the get rich quick schemes, didn't do the road to riches and spent a lot of time just looking around the place.

In your ship (or SRV) go to your right panel first tab. Go up two to get away from the engineers & holo-me buttons, then left or right (selection, not tabs) until you see the stats page, then scroll down until you see it. Total assets is near the top of the list, total time played is nearer the bottom.
