Where did all the well-paying Passenger Missions go?

Everyone knew these payouts were not as FD intended and was basically an exploit. If you wanted to earn money you would have jumped on it, if not then stop whining now they finally removed it; you should have a few B in the bank by now from these missions.

They nerfed it hard once it went mega pubic and that someone bought a new account and hit elite trading from these alone while basically having no ranks in combat or exploration. So now we wait until someone reveals the next cash cow and jump on that bandwagon. Wish an easy combat rank trick would appear. Oh well. Soon ill have exploration elite and be double elite

Lazy much?

Anyone who discovers then next cash cow would be wise just to keep it to themselves. Always folks on here who start crying.... oooh some random person I've never met or will ever meet is making lots of money doing passenger missions, I best get it nerfed before they come to my house and force me at gunpoint to run these missions....quick nerf nerf it!

One of the reasons that people object to money exploits isn't because some space-pixel herder is going to get rich - it's because the ultimate aim of such schemes is to provide a million rebuys for their PvP deathships. If ships and credits weren't so disposable, it would sure throw a crimp into certain murder hobos' playstyle.

Just wish we could get payouts that make sense.

Someone starting out in a Sidewinder should not get the same payouts as Elite players flying a huge ship.

Honestly, most of the missions I see while flying my Anaconda (Tycoon/Ranger rank) and allied with local factors are nearly the same payout as ones new players with no rank see.

It's kind of sad, really.

And no, you typically can't stack them efficiently because they go to so many different places.

Not so sure about that. The distance multiplier was deliberately added in 2.4 (read the patch notes) so it was intended so not an exploit. Perhaps the scale of the payouts in a few systems was not intended.

FDev probably did not expect the vociferous response from a small minority of players who did not like it.

Oh, and it hasn't been removed, just "disabled" although if it remains "disabled" permanently then that amount to the same thing, more or less.

Is a good point.

Why should ship size matter? If I smuggling a super dangerous super secret file in a sidewinder where everyone is after me I should be getting paid a ton more than some tool in a conda shipping biowaste. The problem with missions is they are all basically the same thing just labelled different and bloody boring. At least the smuggling missions had excitement to them.

Not to worry. There'll be something else along in due course. I was hoping to buy some 8a Prismatic shields today but there's been a glitch with that.
Patience is the word of the day it seems.

Agony_Aunt et them all and is now teasing people by asking how much they managed to get before he gobbled all up.

It won't be long before the looks turn to T.j. and an accusing cry will ring out: "What have you done THIS time?!".

That may be true in a few isolated cases. I no longer deal with those types in-game because I play on Mobius. I enjoyed the Smeaton run because it was fun.

. . . Yes, I hear the gasping and the self righteous indignation. I know that some people don't accept that something that they don't enjoy could possibly be enjoyable to others. Others seem to just be appalled by the idea that a person would play a game for such a trivial purpose as . . . fun.

I was generally hitting between four and six stations to load my Python with passengers, being interdicted several times in each transit. All the while keeping a sharp eye on how much mission time I had left. Then there was the long run, yes it gave me some reading time, all the while keeping a bit of my attention focused as I was frequently pulled out of super-cruise.

Oh, yes, the pay outs. Finally there was a way for non-combat players to earn enough to be able to have a balance that would enable those players to enjoy the game instead of worry about the constant credit grind. I was able to go to burning stations and not worry about that opportunity cost of those poorly paying runs. Frankly, I was able to have enough reserve to simply enjoy the game.

If I had a satisfying reserve, than why did I go back t Smeaton and make a few more runs?

Because I found it to be fun.

What irritates me is that most that come along are not for traders. This was one of the first ones that 1. Could be done as a trader and 2. that I found to actually be fun.

They'll be back, hopefully. In the meantime, there are still high paying passenger missions. The tourist ones can bring good money for journeys less than 200Ly (1-3 stops). I actually prefer the tourist ones as you get to fly more (rather than just sitting in supercruise).

The trouble is that the tourists don't pay. I don't mean that they don't pay well, I mean they don't pay. It seems I always get right to the end of the mission, get scanned, and the passenger ejects. I have tried the normal passenger missions several times and have never gotten paid at all. Never means just that, never.

At this point I don't even bother with them.

Aside from that, they just aren't fun. I deal with whiny, self-entitled, people all day. "Bring me a Shrubbery. . . and remember, don't get scanned," just isn't fun.

Tourists can pay exceptionally well. However, it sounds like you picked up a criminal tourist. Simplest way to deal with them is to ensure you have heatsinks - just drop one if you see the being scanned message. I prefer to try and outrun the scans, though. :) Also, there are usually enough passengers that don't care about scans if you choose a good tourist station.

You can also pick up high paying passengers when systems are in war, outbreak, or famine. I picked up a 20 million credit mission once that was a simple 5 minute journey (40 Ly from source) to a station really close to the jump in point. Admittedly, that was a rare find - but it is quite common to find them paying above 10 million.

You know you can see passenger traits and pick passengers that don't mind being scanned, or better you can learn to avoid scans, in the right ship it's easy. I use a Asp to carry wanted passengers without any issues.
