Nothing. You have no game to play, and all you're going to get for the next five years is monthly videos showing how things might eventually look when the game is released... Oh wait, sorry, wrong game.

At the point you or the game have reached the end of your life, that is the time to question what you have for your LEP. Just because some updates are free for Horizons owners, does not mean all will be (though they will be to LEP owners).

"Some premium content" is what we will be getting.

I mean, if that isn't specific enough for you, you bought the LEP from the wrong company buddy.

Get with the program, jeez! some people eh?

:)

If that £120 also covered the price of the base game you're up to £80 already - base game being £40 on release and Horizons also being £40 on release. You'll need one more update worth £40 and that will have fulfilled the £120 price tag you payed. Any subsequent payed updates after this are completely free icing on the cake.

For a 10 year plan of updates I'd say you got an incredibly fantastic deal seeing as how your £120 will potentially be fully covered in the 3rd to 4th year of the game. That means you're not even halfway to the full 10 years and your purchase will already have been fulfilled in terms of money spent for content delivered. I'd be fairly happy with that if I was around at the time when I could have gotten the LEP for £120.

If you had read I said in addition to the base purchase

Now I don't know if this has been raised before but I remember them saying there would be stages of "updates" free of charge but that there would be new paid content post 2.4 so I was surprised to note that this beta is for v3.0 of Elite Dangerous. Therefore I am wondering exactly what we LEP purchasers are going to receive this "season / whatever" in return for our not inconsiderable (in my case anyway) outlay?

My wishful theory is that they are going to add lifeless Atmospheric planetary landing and additional connected content as a paid for DLC near or around the end Q4. Possibly even a major upgrade (season) all in one go, since the pay upfront season pass was so unpopular (in other words, I think they are beavering away so that then next proper season will be largely feature complete rather than iterative like we have now but they want to switch to that without it looking like development has stopped... hence the free season).

I'm not really worried too much that my LEP won't be value for money long term.

As a non lifetime pass holder I was wondering what could entice me to buy extra stuff.

I then thought about the new C&P system and added the two together and came up with five PAID FOR SHIPS!!

Let's face it, if you've just bought access to your Panther Clipper death star Thargoid hybrid vessel the last thing you will want is for someone in a Sidewinder to come along and grief you to death.

So that's my take OP. You will get some ships that the rest of us will have to pay for.

I am just wondering why my £120 in 2015 (in addition to my base purchase) has only covered me for one update in over 2.5 years of a supposedly 10 year plan. So I would be interested to know what this years "paid content" is supposed to consist of.

Well according to the wording from the store, as far as I can remember it, it was said to grant access to all future seasons.
Now if Horizons will be the only and last season, who can tell besides FD? There will be no legal claims for LEP owners if that would be the case, there was also never a 10 year plan, just an assumption by dbobe that he can imagine to support this games development for 10 years, not a factual statement that this will be the case.

Seeing how the season model got removed and development has slowed down these seem to be grim news for all LEP folks.

tl;dr: might as well spent those 120 bucks on ice cream

I can't see them stiffing their LEP buyers like this.

I hope they would not do this.

It's not like LEP people (like me) are actually missing out on anything. I probably got my actual moneys-worth of playtime about two years ago, but I believe there are new paid things in the pipeline.

Oh someone asks very reasonably about the elephant in the room. Quick lets tell him that its a ten year plan so he must wait until 3311 lol.
Lets all forget that horizons "season" lasted for.. lets put it this way: frontier's 4 seasons of a year, doesnt exactly last for one sol year. More like 2 sol years. In that rate.. good luck in getting paid content for free, worthy of the money you have spent.

If I don't like what FDev will be offering to Lifetime Pass owners, then I shall be linking my ED account to Steam in protest.
(This forces FDev to pay Steam a significant % of any future ED purchases, even when done through their own FDev's owns store.)

The problem here is that this issue has been bashed so much that its a pool of nothing.

There will be paid content in 2018 beyond series, asking when we're going to get it wont get us any closer, but it's coming in 2018.
That should actually be good enough answer. This thread is just a repeat of the last thread we already had here.

Either people who keep raising them got a very short memory or they are just trolling the forums.

every single update that does cost money? I cannot understand what you are worried about, they've made it pretty clear that there will be more paid updates, and those you'll get free?
