PvP And the Greifers Choice Award goes too.....

The Chieftain!

With Beyond on the not so distant horizon, a lot of highly anticipated content is arriving. one of these many things is the new ship the Chieftain. However I am Experiencing mixed feelings for its use.

The Chieftain is a Fast, agile and hard hitting combat vessel that out performs the vulture in many ways. in case people have not noticed, vultures are very common Greifer Vessels, but due to the Chieftains speed and handling, even the mighty Cutter will never be able to escape it's sights. especially in groups griefer gangs are going to be more deadly than ever!!

Lucky for me I tend to reside in Solo after the Large increase of griefer activity and little-No justice being served regarding these actions. but anyone still in Open, Watch out.. the Greif-pocalypse is neigh!!!

Just goes to show some people would be scared witless by even so much as an extra pixel being added to the game.

OP, in the words of Luke Skywalker, "Breathe... just breathe." Okay now lets debunk your hyperbole.

1) "Vultures are common griefer vessels" - not really. Firstly, any ship can be used by someone whose set their mind to griefing it all depends on their piloting skill. Secondly, the most common type of greifers don't like to put themselves in any kind of danger so they usually fly shield tankers like the FDL/Conda/Vette/Cutter and run away as soon as they lose one ring of their shields. The common griefer isn't that good at flying so they wouldn't care much for the Vulture.

1a) Vultures are big ship killers and they're most often used against big ships. If you fly a big ship you'll tend to attract TLB (target lock breaker) Vultures like moths to a flame. They're not griefing you just because they chose to attack you by the way. Griefing constitutes stuff like pad blocking, shooting you from outside the station's no fire zone, all manner of station based antics designed to get the station to kill you, attacking you repeatedly in a short span of time, etc. Attacking someone out of the blue is not griefing.

2) "The Cutter can't escape the Chieftain" - wrong. The Cutter can outrun the Chieftain no problem and it can low wake away from it because it cannot be mass locked by the Chieftain. If you can outrun a FAS you'll be able to outrun a Chieftain as well. If you can tank the damage a FDL puts out you can also tank the damage a Chieftain puts out.

3) "The Grief-pocalypse is nigh!!!" - Yeah, no. The so called "gweef-pocawypse" has been coming since 2 weeks into the game's live launch. It's kind of like the other mantra some people love to name check, "the game is dead/dying!!!". It's just hyperbolic sillyness. If anything there's finally going to be some kind of consequences to murder sprees coming with 3.0. How effective they'll be is anyone's guess. In the meantime we're all doing just fine in Open, how are you? :)

In the time I spent in the Chieftain I thought the speed was similar to the Vulture, and it's certainly not more maneuverable, especially when you take in to account inertia and vert/lat thrusters.

You're last paragraph betrays your motive and lack of experience in the fields of open.

Most gank-tastic ships are FDL/FAS builds.

Can't Rep you enough for this post. Anyone can "Grief/Gank", It's learning how to dismiss such actions as pettyness and don't give the party that is attempting to "gank" you a reaction that requires skill. #reversegank

Griefing is what you do when there is no one around to PvP with.

..mainly when one & one's wingmates are bored while longing for proper wing content! *cough* so I've heard!

My favourite lone kill in my vulture was a cmdr in a FDL at a CG - He really did ask for it, calling himself 'Cmdr Burgerking'!

I comm'd "I could murder a Burgerking"...& I did, 'cos I'm witty like that! [big grin]

Should i swap "griefer" to "player" for this post to make sense?...

You seem to think that people playing the game as intended and enjoying some PvP is "griefing".

If you reside in solo how would you even know about the state of open anyway?

I wonder sometimes where this game's community is headed with threads like this.

Its getting more odd & confusing over time.

I really hope the OP's post was a joke and i look silly for taking it seriously.

I assume you have become a follower of Ayn Rand, what with all the leveling off by the upcoming engineering scheme, brings everybody down or up, quite similar isn't it?

You just need to find the retreat where all of the movers of industry traveled to.

The lack of intestinal fortitude among gamers these days makes me sad. Everyone just wants to only interact with others on their own terms. God forbid we have organic gameplay where you might be attacked, or interdicted, pirated etc. when you are not ready for it.

And now we have a post complaining about a ship that isn't even in the game yet and calling it a griefer ship? What the heck dude?

And by the way a lot of you to need to check your definition of griefer. Getting killed or pirated is not griefing. Getting repeatedly killed and harassed is griefing.

I discovered the incomparable Ayn Rand about ten years ago, and her books The Fountainhead & Atlas Shrugged inspired me immensely. I don't subscribe 100% to all of her viewpoints, but think she was a visionary and right on the money about many/most of her propositions.

Yes, we need to create our own Atlantis. Sounds like the closest equivalent is the PvP Hub:)
