Reward vs time

Can't upload the pic but i got this mission to go to a system near colonia called ratrall to smugle 56 units of battle weapons for a reward of 162.176 cr and a modified embedded firmware 21.912.15 ly for this!

I can't upload the picture don't know how but i got this mission to the ratrall system 21.912.15 ly away to smugle 56 units of battle weapons for a reward of 162.176 cr and 1 modified embedded firmware! Well i hate the loading screens and honk the discovery scanner the only time i got so far away from the bubble was on the 5000ly trip to unlock palin and took me 3 hours and the when i've reached i blow the ship up cause i was not in a mood to do that crap another 5000ly back again yeah the exploration data!

Yeah that's not really worth it for the reward ;)

I'm in Colonia & see some missions to go to the bubble, I think maybe people take them to motivate them to make the trip. You can earn a few million just from exploration data on the way but it's not the fastest way to make money.

Glad you finally worked out the pic, we all struggled the first time :)

You can change the size of an imgur image by fiddling with the url:

Most Bubble-to-Colonia missions are just top-ups for players making the journey anyway; usually people take Data Delivery rather than Cargo so there's no reduction to their jump range. That said, looking at the actual mission screenshot details, it'd probably be considerably higher if 1) you were Tycoon/Elite Trade-rated, and 2) fully 'Allied' with the issuing minor faction. :)

At the end of the day, it isn't just about that initial reward. It's the icing on the top for someone that's already decided that they are going to head out that way.

Plus, heading out that way, especially on trip one, there is an absolute tonne of discovery data to obtain and sell at the other end.

Perhaps you might like to ignore this mission then? ;)

But yeah, I get your point, payouts have been rubbish for a while now. I'm sure another cash cow will come around now that Palin missions and passenger missions are over...

What will it be!?

Anyone care to guess? Perhaps we should run a sweepstake for what the next cash cow will be! [haha]

1 billion for 10-20 hour's of play? Excessive don't you think? Especially since you will pick up some millions by just pining your horn as you go out there.

I'd do it for 100 million. Hmm... although you can stack such missions... could get quite excessive.

Compare to the recent Smeaton run, 1BCr for 10-20 hours play is not so good. I could have made 2BCr in 10 hours doing that run. However, compared to running Imperial Slaves around the Orang system for about 15MCr/Hr (max) or 150MCr for 10 hours then 1BCr for 10 hours play is excessive. It all depends upon what you are using for the comparison.

At least you get 160k. I was offered similar mission (range wise) where "reward" was 2 digit value. 68 Cr. Sixty. Eight.

This whole reward system needs massive balancing. In general missions are heavily undervalued with some absurd OP cash spikes.

You should try playing the original ELITE then, i remember you could get just 1 credit and very often it was 10. There is absolutely no need to be concerned about rewards in ED.

My first electronic gaming experience was printing the gamefield out on a dotmatrix 132 column blue line printer. Deciding the move to make and then converting it to Hex, and inputting it to the computer via a binary switch panel..

We've moved on ok?

There is concern when your rebuy is 40m+ and they're asking us to do missions that pay pittance.

Fancy graphic game is all it is now. Stunning graphics let down by abysmal game design.

I honestly fail to see why anyone would do time-consuming activities in the game that they didn't enjoy just to make credits. There are so many things to do, just find some that you enjoy and the credits will roll in while you are having fun.

I agree to some degree, but sometimes the activity you enjoy is costly, and you need to earn credits another way to compensate.

This is gaming.

Fun's got nothing to do with it.
