So his Roadster melt then? I hear it can get pretty hot in high earth orbit. I bet the plastic dropped off it like a ripe plum?

Perhaps the aliens will can not resist to steal the roadster ? The engineers engraved on one of the integrated circuits of the car that it had been "made on Earth by humans":

You know the plates they stuck on the Voyager spacecraft. (I would post an image except it shows male and female full frontal nudity and this is a bit of an all-ages forum; Terms and Conditions etc.)?

Musk should have had that engraved of the front windshield..........

Of course. It's a golden record with human history

Much more serious than the roadster of Mr. Musk

:)

The plates you're thinking of were on Pioneer 10 and 11. Voyager 1 and 2 had the Golden Records. Which...is still a missed opportunity, because there's a third Golden Record still in a museum on Earth they could have put on the car before they launched it.

Which...is still a missed opportunity ...

So many of those. There's NO Fir Tree air freshener. NO bumper sticker (as far as I can tell) saying, "How's my driving? Dial 555 Newton" and I bet there's NO water in the windscreen wash either.

Very interesting. But for how long ? The life of the roadster seems weak in duration

:)

Agreed. It probably won't survive the asteroid belt. Might though ..

A couple of issues with the third 'golden record'. First it is not really understood what it is; by this i-pod generation and second: It would not fit into the C.D. player.

You are entirely correct and I stand corrected. o7!

I have over 400 vinyl still in the garage but I don't have a working turntable to play them at the moment and it's been that way for two decades. Is this the tech of which you speak?

They should remake "Moonraker", rewriting Drax to make him a little more Musky.

But whether he's considered a hero or villain, he has done enough to earn himself an honour amongst the stars. I don't have any objection to his name being added to Elite

hehe. I think Musk is more Tony Stark than Drax. I left this clip in another thread but it makes me tingle in my special place:

As much as I'm all for the private sector getting into space haulage, isn't anyone at all bothered that he has basically just shot more junk up into space? If there was a purpose other than vanity I might understand, but he has just gone to great expense to litter our neighbourhood.

I don't get all the applause he's getting. Had he sent up something that served a purpose I might understand, but I don't see it as being any different than dumping a burned out car in a field.

Am I being a cynical a-hole?

He wants to commercialize the Tesla on Mars

;)

I think the records are different ones in the Voyager 1 and 2.

Meh, AFAWK there are no aliens inside the solar system.

As opposed to a similar mass test payload of metal and concrete? what would be the ethical difference then, either way it had to be a test mass.
