E:D - Unexpectedly romantic activity for Valentines day.

It's all commercial hogwash, popularised by card manufacturers. DON'T FALL FOR IT

Except that it dates back as far as 12/13th Century where some priest (called Valentine) used to conduct engagement and wedding ceremonies while then ruling Roman Emperor forced a law that no engagement and wedding ceremonies will be performed at all. And so the usual thing - someone disobeyed, things came out, accusation, tortures, martyrdom and some Pope declared said Valentine a saint and a patron of lovers.

Tho I somewhat agree that current iteration of Valentine's Day is just more a commercial excuse to sell fluffy hearts than actual thing. But OPs idea is great - if you want to celebrate it why not to do it in some different than usual way? Back in a day couples etched hearts on the tree's bark, now people can go and put their names on a stars...

Naming celestial bodies after one's partner just reminds me of Professor Michael Bay's - Yeah, let's train oil drillers to be astronauts & not vice versa....'cos that would just be stupid! - seminal documentary 'Armageddon'.

Tagging stars together is a really cute idea. :)

My wife and me rather celebrate Cheap Chocolate Day, which is the day after Valentine's, though, and gift us nice things whenever we like. :)

I can see some gangster renaming their ship "CUPID" and reaching out to give someone a Valentines tap with their guns ...

Just kidding ... (I hope ...)

Posted this last year, but with valentines coming up.... If you scan an unexplored body with a wing, everyone in the wing gets credit on the tag. If you play Elite with a significant other, why not go exploring with your partner and get your names engraved across a star together?
For valentines last year my partner and I did just that; the highlight being a system that's home to both a Black Hole and a Neutron Star.

I love this.

If my wife were an ED gamer she'd have stolen my cargo, shot me down in flames and then waited for me at the nearest station to do it all over again. That's love.

I love this, too.

Mine is not much of a gamer.
I've had her take the helm for me a couple of times, and play around with the tutorials a couple of times.
But there's so much going on at any given time she gets overwhelmed by it.

But that's ok.. she makes up for it in other areas.

Did she enjoy playing with your 'helm'

Came in expecting to see some hot multicrew action...

It is a nice touch that they'll list wing mates in the first discovered by list.
