When to purchase the T9?

I have the money for one now, but I know it's getting buffed. Should I buy one now to play with, or wait for the buff?

With how long 3.0 could take, I'm really curious on the consensus of this thread.

Edit: Just going to tally the results-

For - 10
Against - 2
On the fence - 3
Other - 2

Are you happy without it? If yes, wait until 3.0, pad your wallet some more and then buy the new and improved T-9 when 3.0 hits.

If you think the lack of a T-9 is holding you back, just buy it now and upgrade it later with the new slot.

It always depends.

It depends on what you mean by "I have money for her"
If you have money just to buy the stock hull, I would advise against it. You need at least the money for the hull, decent FSD (otherwise you might not be able to even leave the system. :D), cargo racks, one load of cargo and one or two rebuys. Then go for it. Otherwise wait. :)

I mean money to upgrade her how I wish. I never buy stock hulls generally, unless it's a limited discount for instance. Oh, and I would never fly without rebuy, far too dangerous.

Especially in this brick. :D
Then go for it. Driving a T9 is a whole new world. I love her.
When 3.0 comes, your profits will just go up about 30% from the extra cargo, but other than that there are no changes so you may as well start using her now.

The only thing I'd suggest is that you might want to hold off on engineering any optional internals that you fit.

You might decide, after the buff, to reconfigure the internals and the modules that you've already engineered could be redundant.

Other than that, just be careful with it.
If you can only just afford it, it's a lot of ship to lose and it's a big ol' target.

The only reason to wait is if you want to engineer it with the new system, as if you already own one, the change will update once the patch goes live. I didn't want to, so I bought and engineered one last week.

I'd get it. I don't think it will matter much on the engineering as I think the only thing that changes is the addition of a larger module slot. But then again, it's not a bad idea to wait and not waste the G5 mats if you only have a few.

The T-9 was already the manliest ship available, and now (well when 3.0 releases) it will finally be king of (short route) trade. So if you fancy trading, get one.

I am going to get one. The question is whether to get one now, or wait for 3.0 to be live.

It's already been said but you do understand that if you buy one now it will magically gain the extra C8 slot when 3.0 goes live, right?
It's not like you're going to be stuck with the current spec' ship instead of the new, improved, version.

Buy it now, go forth and trade in bulk.
Slowly.

:p

It doesn't matter. Why would it matter?

I was making it clear to someone who didn't seem to understand the point of this thread.

Sure, maybe to some people, the when of something doesn't matter, but to me it does. I like to plan, and this is planning. Spending now means saving later if I want something else. Saving now means I might have money for that other thing later, and would be saving for the T9 again at that point likely, depending on the other products price.

Has this thread been made clearer to everyone?

What ships do you have, now? Do you have something bigger than current T9? If so, you can carry on trucking and save money for "new" T9 once the 3.0 hits.
But if a T9 is an upgrade for you (like if you have a T7, or Python), but her now. There's no point in "saving" when you will be making more money in her. And it will only get better with that extra C8 after 3.0 goes live.
