Curious - Your reaction to Cmdr Tony Curtis' Videos?

Kofeyh is a valued member of the Elite Dangerous streaming community and has several encounters with content creators. Her years of experience in the community makes her opinion quite valid.

I am also a member of the Elite Dangerous streaming community and I have gone from being a victim of Tony to a admirer of his work and currently run in his wing.

Many see the griefing or salt mining as a means to negatively affect the community. I however see it differently. As a streamer being sniped is his way to welcome new streamers into the community, it is also a way to measure the constitution of the streamer to see if they can handle the cutthroat origins of open play. Regardless of the outcome he always brings with him a ton of viewers to the streamers channel thus promoting them more and he always highlights them in his videos. I myself was just highlighted in the last one. People find the salt and the combat amusing in an otherwise Background simulated game. So in my opinion they are great videos that support a community as well as adding a needed infamous flare.

Welcome to the community CMDR o7

+1 Fair enough, good to read your point of view. Don't have a problem with Kofeyh, just wasn't clear why she directed her comments at me. Happy to know what she thinks about the videos. It's why I posted.

I've watched almost all of them. I'm not sure how that actually, fundamentally changes the game, though? That also doesn't explain why you've taken so very much interest in something you "don't see the point in". ;)

I'm not sure what your point is. It's someone playing elite; potentially differently to someone else. I'm not criticising you, I'm trying to understand whether you are in fact actually very interested in it, enough to kick off yet another "someone is playing the game differently and so I have some opinions on that" thread we've seen quite a few times now.

My 'opinion' is that it's someone else playing elite, and doing their thing. And apparently enjoying it. It might not be my thing, but that's not really relevant, is it. My opinion isn't "someone did something on the internet so I must ask my chums on the forums to have some feelings about it".

I'm not being nasty; I'm probably just desensitised to all the "someone did something in the game, question mark exclamation point" threads of late. Yes. Other people also play elite. You could be forgiven for thinking this is an utter revelation for some.

Yes, was interested. I viewed the videos and interpreted them one way. I thought they were odd, mainly because I can't imagine myself showing videos of people I've upset. So wondered how others see them. Did try to make it clear that any point of view was valid. I don't mind asking chums. Anyway, thanks for clearing things up. :)

Wow he sure goes to a lot of trouble to annoy people!...& I'm not sure about the inappropriate use of the Japanese girl bands (weird). Having said that, I did laugh - but that was purely at the reactions of some of the victims - just as designed.

I've been ganked multiple times & on occasions it has been mildly irritating...however, the game itself regularly trolls me on a level beyond a griefer's wildest dreams. Hence overall - on Tony Curtis - I would have to go with a "meh"!

there's a cream for that

Yeah 'E45'...but he misses having itchy nipples...so I'm guessing he already knows that!

Doesn't make me want to go and out and try it myself but...

I'm glad someone is doing it well!

And yes, damnably funny.

Well played Cmdr.

Wow, all these years I thought Kofeyh was a bloke, it all makes sense now, far too level headed to be a guy!

I miss Itchy Nipples

Best ever

Whatever happened to Itchy? Last time I saw him he was camped outside an orbital, firing seekers at newbies, this was before the stations fitted cascade weapons.

it could be seen as a social critique of the senseless voyeurist culture flourishing on the net ... but somehow i doubt it! looks like he's after his own piece of the cake.

.. probably. lol.

Still, sense of humour failure is another sign of the times imo and Cmdr Tony Curtis probably does his bit there. Something of a right of passage too, are you a real ED streamer, if you've never been walloped by this guy? As long as he's not consistently targetting individuals (and bullying) I like them myself; Kings of the wild frontier, even if I do feel a bit dirty watching them;

Huh? The only 'Kofey' I know is a 6ft 4in Nigerian guy from my gym, with whom one definitely wouldn't mess! But then again, this forum is a bizarre place at the best of times.

Btw, I really hate it when forum names are misrepresentative of the individuals behind them.

Was watching some ED videos on YouTube yesterday.

Came across a raft of Cmdr Tony Curtis videos. Although he has clearly put a lot of effort into making them and they're amusing, I couldn't see the point. I mean, why deliberately cast yourself in such a bad light? Anyway, left me wondering what other players' thought of the videos? Bear in mind this is NOT a name and shame thread. You may like the videos, or the gameplay they portray, and that's fine. Perhaps he's a role model. Then again, you may not like them at all. Also valid.

Whatever you opinion, just keep it nice and mature. I'm more interested how others interpret the motive for the videos, rather than the gameplay as I (and you) do want yet another emotional thread about griefing. :)

My reaction?

N/A

I've never heard of a CMDR Tony Curtis. Hence, never seen any related Videos.
There's plenty of Players and even Groups working hard to put themselves into a bad light though. Especially with ELITE : Dangerous that's completely normal and typically reflects their everyday Open Play experience.

The CMDR is playing his way, that is fair enough, but I didn't like the vids personally, they never stayed on the vid long enough, all that random swapping to clips of films got too annoying for me, sorry. I also cannot fathom out why none of the players that got served targeted the ship that was attacking them.

And Kofeyh is a female! I also thought she was a bloke. So how many female CMDR's are there actually playing? There is only three that I now genuinely know are female. The last time I actually played with a female gamer was playing CoD2. Her name was ExeCute. She used to incite me into playing harder, I liked her. JFTR she rocked.

As the player who keeps playing ED solely for the perverted pleasure of killing other players I can understand why he's doing it, envy to a degree even - he can actually watch them squirm.

However I don't like that he targets noobs, and as of lately his videos are so full of needless filler they are almost unwatchable.

I don't see anything resembling even a vague shadow of intelligence in his video... But maybe this is the reason he only have 300 something subscribers, which is about the same number of views of his latest and greatest... :p

Stockholm Syndrome?

All in all much ado about nothing. If the OP point is that this behavior should not be tolerated, I agree. If it's about the videos, I'd say "Who cares?" Probably after this thread, the number of views will double, which is unfortunate...
