News Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter One Release Date

We do have it (and I'm pretty sure Sony boyz have it too). Where are we on the linux/Mac front?

Mac can't run Horizon. Doesn't support the the new shaders or something like that. If Apple get their act together, they will be up and running again.

somebody know at which hour the update will be available ?

No.

FD work to BST, which at the moment is equivalent to GMT = IGT, so the assumption is that they will be taking the servers offline sometime on Tuesday morning, then run the updates and various checks, then enable the update on the launcher and finally bring the servers back online again. From the past updates, IIRC, that could happen as early as 15:00, but may be later.

Console players will usually be able to start their download sooner than PC players, but that won't help them that much, since we all can only play once the game servers are back up again. Hopefully.

There is also the (slight) risk that something goes drastically wrong with the update and we'll have to go through all this once again on Thursday.

For me personally (working to CE(S)T), that means I can watch the forums and hope to be able to run the downloads when I get home on Tuesday evening.

they will probably be ready for it 1 or 2 days before, they will throw it between 10am and 12am, and if something bad happens they will try again around 3pm

i hope it will be up before 1pm

I could ask my wife to start the install, but again, via Steam it downloads in minutes, so by the time I can sit down, it will be ready to play. :)

Do you mean if I use Steam - my crappy copper-wire broadband which was clearly pensioned off from 19th century telegraph duty, will suddenly transform into 21st century fibre?

Please tell me it is so! Let it be!

Now be fair he never said how many tens or hundreds of minutes it downloaded in.

Oh wow, the wait is boring isn't it? :)

I just highlighted the fact, that through the normal launcher the update is always slow, whereas via Steam it downloads quickly if you happen to have proper connection.

Usually not too bad, this time the anticipation is higher so it is probably going to feel worse.

I would have thought the connection trumped which if any middleman you used but if you say so, my only involvement with Steam was over 10 years ago I think and it just felt like an extra layer of hassle at the time, Steam loading screen then another loading screen then the game loading screen.

I'd guess Steam host the updates. Again, I was just saying because the last time I've seen a lot of people complaining about virtually standstill download speed when I updated via Steam at 20MB/sec.

My 30mb ADSL in my 1910 house suddenly started getting in excess of 100mb download speeds a few months ago!
