Station repair is about to get a lot easier

From the 3.0 patch notes:

"Rebalancing pass over station repair targets has reduced them to about 10% of their 2.4 values."

Makes sense, tough I would have lowered them a bit less but then also increased price for needed commodities a good chunk.

time to start the petition to increase the targets again - keep out the riff-raff ;)

Hey! I resemble that remark!

I hope someone will post the new targets with amounts so far achieved, at least for The Oracle and Obsidian Orbital. As you can imagine, this week is kinda spoken for, but next week I might spend a day bringing in some stuff from the bubble that isn't available locally if I can get a heads up on what's needed.

Wait let me see...

All those filthy casual haulers just didn't git gud enough if the requirements have to be lowered that much, plz restore targets...

or what about that:

I feel not being respected enough by all the hauling I've done until today, FDev doesn't respect all the time I grinded for The Oracle. Add more haulage numbers or riot!

another one:

Frontier just can't deliver, not even another awful grind. /sad. Make hauling numbers great again.

Just kidding. Please, 10% is awesome [up]

:D

Same,
Itching to get my Type 9 out there and helping out.

are we really meant to repair them, are the limits so high we should be able to do it.?

I am hoping with 3.0 there are benefits and a number of people remaining to rescue total. and if we don't rescue quick enough they die, if they die there are bad thing to happen.
also if we don't repair a station will it degrade and take more items off-line....

and of course lower the limits a little... pls, if we are meant to fix them

Should have just kept it the same and increased payouts to the same level as burning stations, we all would have had a bunch of high profit long range trucking destinations.

Payouts aren't excessive at burning stations, you are looking at around 5 million per run in a 700 tonne capacity T9 or Cutter. What are repair stations paying? Something like 200,000 credits per trip.

I wonder if it's retrospective. I.e Stations that have already surpassed the new amounts will be fixed on Thursday?

Maybe they could add a limpet controller to help with this...

Would take up a slot but.... Upon activation the limpet would open your browser, go to a third party website, check the availability of bogroll in the Pelaides, harumph at the distances involved, open a new tab and populate the from and to fields to calculate a round trade trip for the bogroll, hover over the profit margin and then self destruct in the mechanical equivalent of hysterical laughter?

In other words merely automate the current gameplay mechanic for just 100 CR.

Thoughts anyone?

That's not a terrible idea. I've been doing occasional long-haul runs from the bubble in my Cutter for 160,000 credits a trip. Happy enough to do it as a public service, but I wouldn't have minded at all if it had been made worth my while.

But neither this nor any alternative good idea happened because Frontier put zero effort into developing these station repair missions:

the absurd figures for amounts of commodities required were apparently simply drawn out from somewhere unsanitary, hence the need for the current "balancing pass";

players were given no mechanism for tracking overall progress other than showing up at the station and reading Galnet - and even that mechanism was inadequately implemented and had to be fixed to show more exact percentages;

no mechanism for tracking an individual player's contribution - I had to resort to totting up sums from my figures in EDDI.

Ship, spoiling, ha'porth of tar.

"WADDA-MY GONNA DO WITH ALL THAT SPARE TIME NOW - FRONTIER?"

WE don't all have a wife and kids.
