Ship kits nerf

Maybe I'm blind but I have never seen anyone complain about the shipkit being larger then the landing pad.
I've seen people disliking the kit and a lot of people loving it but I've never seen a rant about it's size.

As said before, the kit is pure vanity and I loved the way it looked, totaly worth my money.
Now they just alter it to a proportional mess and yes I'm upset about that, this is not what I bought or would've paid money for.
10 euros isn't that much in general but I payed it nonetheless, for an item I liked, they changed it just like that, ignoring the paying customer.

I praise FD when they do something good, doesn't mean that I keep my mouth shut when they screw up like this, if it was a free item then yup no problem but it isn't free.

I hope they'll change the store pictures because those don't represent the actual product at all anymore.

I do recall some backhand sniping about it, but nothing particularly salty. I'd noticed it and didn't care; for the .003% of flying time it was actually noticeable, I could just shut my eyes.

I've seen a few comments along the lines of 'come on FDev it looks amateurish' and I mean a few. I assume it was interfering with their 'mursions or something.

As I said I didn't buy the kit so I don't have a personal axe to grind here but if they'd done it to the Python kit which I do own, I can't say I'd be thinking 'oh well never mind, what's my eight quid compared to some random on the internet's ability to pretend more effectively.'

The Cutter has amazing stats, but it's a ship only a blind mother could love. In fairness to the OP, the ship kit doesn't help matters. Lipstick on a sex toy dumbo jet.

I would realy like to see a comment on this issue by FD, whether they'll give me back the shipkit that I bought or not.
They said that they reed most posts so this most likely hasn't gone by unnoticed.

If they decide to keep this monstrosity then I will definitely request a refund.

So FD what about it?

Join the club.

My Cobra used to look quite tasteful and understated when the ship-kit parts matched the colour of the paint-job.

And then, one day, somebody monkeyed around with something and suddenly my Cobra has a heap of glaringly obvious white bolt-on tat which doesn't match the rest of the hull any more. [sad]

Rejoice!
Some good has come of this thread, I'm off to buy a cobra.[yesnod]

The decision to purchase a cosmetic item is based on what it looks like at the time of purchase.

If said item is changed, or needs to be changed, there shouldn't even be a question of the response if a refund is requested.

No question at all.

This should be the top and bottom of it.

A cosmetic item has the sole purpose of altering the way a ship looks.
You buy it on the basis of whether you like the way it looks.
If they then change the way it makes your ship look, it's no longer the product you paid for.
If that means you no longer like the way it makes your ship look, you should be entitled to a refund.

Although I agree I would rather see them change the kit back to how it was, I realy liked that shipkit.
If they don't however then I will definitely request a refund.

Not entirely sure what point you're making TBH.

If you're suggesting that ED is misrepresenting the products it has for sale in the same way that certain sleazy facets of the adult/sex industry do, that's hardly a shining endorsement of FDev's integrity.

😂 No I'm not, just saying I like almost all posts (and I included some subjects that were written before here) and they all matter.

Happy to know people share my views and great to get some momentum going. Hoping frontier will pick this up and change it back or have a solution in the next small update with retracting ship kits, they can use my fortune I spent in the frontierstore for the development costs. 👍🏻🤗

Some peeps have probably bought the kit since the change, and would now get upset if it suddenly changed back! Preferred how it looked before, I get that it was because of the clipping (and maybe other reasons we're not aware of).
But it feels a bit... underhand.
Maybe they have said at some point they were going to look at any issues with it, I never saw anything myself.
Meh, I don't like the standard look, I'll probably settle for how it is now.
Twas nice to have a moan about it.

Loads up Cutter. Sees no difference between 3.0 and 2.4.

Wonders what in the heck the OP is on about. :S

I didn't see it either, but supposedly the scale of the ship kit parts have been toned down. The argument "This isn't what I paid for" is objectively incorrect as the size was never advertised, it still looks the same, just scaled down a little to avoid clipping. Now if it was suddenly a Raider ship kit or a different color than your ship or missing a part, there might be a real argument here. Yes, the parts are a bit smaller than they were, but it's not a night/day difference and it cleans up an issue with it, which Frontier is well within their rights to do. Too much hyperbole going on here, go ask for your refunds, argue with support about it already.

Refunds should be available for those who want them in this case; that's only good customer service.

I do think our esteemed devs should have just left well enough alone. Clipping? For maybe a second or two? Has anyone seen what No Man's Sky is like in that regard? Slippery slope perhaps, but let this one slide and look closer before releasing these things in the future.
