Had to stop engineering because I tested a weapon maybe 10m inside the no fire zone.

Fines shouldn't be making life difficult... I thought only bounties did that?

A fine is supposed to be a minor annoyance, which can escalate if unpaid.

I'd post a bug report.
i got a fine for shooting my mate in the no fire zone, then left to do some bounty hunting.
the fine turned into a bounty i couldnt pay off anywhere.

not really ingaging, more tedious..

I have to check it wasn't a personal fail first, but yeh, I will if it turns out to be the case. BUT...I suspect there are no contacts at Bill Turner's place at all, which would definitely make it an annoying issue and probably an oversight by FD.

I was completely ready for the guys coming to say 'you were int he no fire zone, haha', I've got loads more comebacks ready for y'all, bring it. :)

Well... If you know what everyone is going to say and have all the comebacks ready.... Then it appears you are well aware of what you did wrong.

(You can thank me later)

Yeh I saw your thread, how did it turn into a bounty so quickly?

Once upon a time I was headed for an engineer's base and spotted a heap of cargo containers on the ground nearby.
I landed and deployed my SRV.
Next thing I know, I'm getting a "ship under attack" message.
Turn to look at my ship and it's being "griefed" :)p) by a couple of NPC pirates.
Shoot at them with my SRV turret and I get a bunch of Cr100 fines (for weapon-fire within the no-fire zone).

And then, when I eventually dock at the engineer's base, I pay the fines and then get awarded the bounties for destroying the ships I'd been fined for shooting at.

Mixed messages, FDev.

This cannot happen legitimately.

In 3.0 fines never mature, bounties never expire, dormant bounties and legacy fines are gone the way of the dodo.

Firing in a No-Fire Zone is a fine offence.

Firing and damaging a clean ship you have targeted is a bounty offence unless they are in your wing, in which case no crime is committed (you would still gain a fine if you attacked in a No-Fire Zone).

Oh come on, you make it too easy. Hint: The problem wasn't the issuance of the fine. ;)

Try reading the thread before piling in with the smart comments, though I must say it's nice to have my own stalker. :)

Justice is blind. You acted illegally by firing in a No-fire zone. However, you also brought a known felon to justice.

thanks for the responce.

we were in a wing, so it shouldnt be an bounty.
when i get back from work ill report a ticket, my corvette is still wanted back home because of this for 600cr. and parked it in Xihe.

it could also be the case of me hitting a ship while bounty hunting with some huge PA's.

Lol, yeah, that might do it.

Open up the centre crew panel display, there is a display that tells you if you are in the NFZ, should still work even if you don't have an NPC crew, I sometimes check when I can launch a fighter near a station. Also thought there was an audio message from the station controller telling you when you are out of the NFZ, but only happens when you are leaving the NFZ.

the NFZ is slightly further out than the speed limit zone (at most types of stations)

EDIT - The devs could put that centre panel to much better use, so many little QoL bits of detail they could add, front and centre while you are flying.

Thanks for that tip! I'm going to use that one, as a double-check.

My method is a bit complacent, but basically I bring up Local Chat and look at the 'No fire zone entered' and 'No fire zone left' messages. If the last one received isn't 'No fire zone left', I NEVER fire my guns.

I'm sure that will go wrong some day when I mix up what I'm looking at. Your version seems a little more robust.

I'm aware of that, are you aware that the message decays after 5 seconds? I was getting a glass of water, so I assumed it had popped up and decayed.

Just don't leave the game unattended. Anyways I do think a permanent indicator would be useful like the one for gear or maybe a warning pop-up before you choose to shoot inside the no fire zone.
