Can't outfit due to "legal issues"

Figured it out on my own. Last time I try to get help from the community, never helpful and just annoys me even more with the level of incompetence that's shown.

The fact nobody had the IQ to say "go to the galaxy map, click services, then click Interstellar Factors" astounds me, and makes me fear for the human race... All I get is badgering, underhanded insults, or people on Frontiers D acting like their gods gift to gaming.
---------------

Thank you Chorda for actually saying something somewhat helpful and allowing me to put 2 and 2 together to figure out to look on the galaxy map for something specific. Rep+

So... since Frontier have once again graced me with their absolute incompetence when it comes to telling the player ANYTHING, and has once again given me a huge slap in the face, without explaining why, where, or how... I come to the community.. again..

I can't outfit my ship due to "legal issues". I have no "legal issues" however.. When I go to contacts nothing shows up for fines, or outstanding problems. I looked through my profile, nothing...

I did do missions about 5 systems away where 1 of them gave me a fine (even though the mission specifically stated I wouldn't inside the mission point, lawls thanks frontier), why the flying frack is that stopping me from outfitting my ship 5 systems away?

Suggested in the beta period that fines should not require anonymous access UNLESS the fining faction controlled the station.

Well that would certainly make sense wouldn't it?

It would also make sense to have combat missions that don't all require you to rack up insane amounts of fines as you fight their wars for them... But you know that would require logic..

I suspect that the modules you are trying to fit were taken off the ship when it was "hot" due to the fine. You'll have to "clean" the modules prior to refitting them to your ship. This was indeed mentioned by FD here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/407608-Crime-and-Punishment-in-Beyond-Chapter-One so um, people in glass houses & all that...

I agree, if you would apply some logic you wouldn't rack up insane amounts of fines.

Seems to me that in overhauling Crimes & Punishment they should have - you know, actually overhauled Crimes & Punishment but as usual they half a.. it and just overhauled Punishments, leading to this insane <expletive deleted>wittery.

Bug report it if you think its a bug. Otherwise, well don't do the crime if you can't pay the fine!

This is where I think things are a little unjust, fines literally punish the player as much as bounties as they are shut out from interactions and can't pay them out at stations anymore.

I can understand bounties, but fines?! be like the local police giving me a speeding ticket then telling me I can't go grocery shopping and have to pay it physically at their main station 100Km away!!!!!!

Fines ARE paid as they always have been, bounties can now be cleared at interstellar factors. What you smoking?

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I had to read this patch notes + every single patch note in the last 2 years to learn how every ingame mechanic works .. Usually players get that info in-game. I guess I'm expecting to use 5 third party programs, youtube channels, and delve through 3 years of patch notes to figure it out.. [haha]

No game is perfect.

Well, in your opening statement:

So... since Frontier have once again graced me with their absolute incompetence when it comes to telling the player ANYTHING,

You are actually complaining that FD haven't communicated are you not? All I'm doing is pointing out that you are wrong...

To be fair, there's been a lot of discussion and announcements regarding the new C&P system, though it definitely takes some getting used to. Most of my evening's playtime was lost on clearing the fine on my Cutter, since I had to find a large landing pad station with an interstellar faction broker (going to the faction station in question just got me shot at). 3rd party tools really helped here.

A Galnet article touching on some of these potential pitfalls with the C&P update would probably help.

Except they haven't. Giving me a trash, worthless patch notes that doesn't explain anything isn't communicating. Sure they communciated what they changed... but where is that helping me ingame? Where is that info ingame? Its not is it?

Something as a core mechanic to the game should be explained somewhere ingame.

I shouldn't have to delve through 3 years of patch notes to figure out how the frack a main core mechanic to the game works. Sucking frontier's D pretty hard aren't we?

But even int he patch notes they fail to explain crap.

So I have hot modules. Great. How do I change that? Oh I go to some Intestellar Factor.. whatever the frack that means, since it fails to explain even that.

So I'm still stuck wondering am I supposed to do?

Which you've shown about as much competence and intelligence as frontier, which is about damn near zero.

I'm wondering if you can say anything that isn't just sucking frontiers D, and actually think intelligently. If you knew the answer, why not just say it? "oh you go to X, and Y, if you have fines GG" would of been really helpful, naw lets just suck Frontiers D more, and not actually be a positive force in the community.

What I don't love more than wasting an hour or more trying to figure out some asanine backwards mechanic in a game that the devs fail to explain worth a damn, only to come to the forums asking for help, and being bludgeoned with the stupidity of the community as they do anything but answer my basic question.

And people wonder why I have no faith in the human race.

Holy love of frack someone who said something actually intelligent and helpful. THANK YOU you are a god send.

So not all stations have Interstellar faction brokers, and that's where I need to go to clear the "Hot" from my ship and modules?

Or watch the C& P videos. A bit like when you start and the tutorials link you to the tutorial videos, there has been plenty of discussion. Or look at the forum threads, there are plenty of edge cases, and some clever commanfers brought these up in the threads.

FD said they were going to overhaul core mechanics this year. This is what they have done, the C & P changes seemed complicated to me, so I did some R & D over the last month! Apparently there are less states in the new system, so arguablly easier to code and less buggy. Time will tell.

ED is giving you the info ingame, by the way. ok after you dock and realise you cannot do anything, but that has always been part of its charm .... since 1984 just enough sign posts for you to realise your muck up after the event.

That's correct! I use INARA's handy system search function. NB that bounties are attached to ships, not CMDRs now. So you need to take the ship in question to the broker bounty carwash in the sky.
