Thanks for the info!
I will make a point to check out a few Independent systems in various states to see what the drop rates look like compared to the standard Imperial or Federation systems.
You will find them to be good!

I also add "system has single star" to my searches when going HGE hunting.
I've found the shape and size of the deep space area varies considerably depending on how the system is set up.
So if you fly from system entry point to any inhabited planet, it will be a shipping lane. If you fly from one spaceport in the system to another one in a straight line, it will be a shipping lane. If you go anywhere else - towards uninhabited planets or above / below the orbital plane - it will be deep space.
, nevermind..
You can get to deep space area in any system as far as 100Ly from the main star as long as you avoid the orbital plane of the system bodies, just saying.. This way to avoid shipping lanes and also getting close to other bodies
Thanks for this info! Makes sense and is kind of what I expected, but I never bothered to check to see if a planet I was locked onto was inhabited or not. That is probably why it kept switching to Deep Space a good portion of the time. I will make a point to ID the planet conditions now.
Thanks again!![]()
So far, my sense is that the HGE rate has actually gone down rather than up, and that the mat drops in it has gone down, too. In the past I've had 5 Core Dynamic Comps/Imperial Shielding/Pharm. Isolators drop in one instance, but so far in 3.0 I've had 2-3 max, and some other less rare mats dropping. (i.e. 3 proprietary components, with 2 Core Dynamics components)
5 HGEs in an hour? I must be doing something wrong, because I don't think I've ever seen it that high...
Finding HGEs quite difficult to unearth, and this is perhaps the first time I've found the material 'grind' a bothersome RNG-ish chore.
Have been trying to find some Proto Light Alloys in boom independent systems for about three hours now. HGEs themselves are seldom found, with degraded emissions in large numbers - but the HGEs I have been lucky enough to find have blessed me with 72 Proto Heat Radiators, and not a single Proto Light Alloy. Am I doing something wrong, or simply unlucky?
I read in the patch notes for 3.0 that the spawn rate for these G5 mat containing USS had been increased.
Has anyone found that to be true?
Not only have I been seeing less of these popping up, when I go to a specific system in say "Outbreak" in order to pick up some "Pharmaceutical Isolators", 4 out of 5 of these USS are not providing me with the "Outbreak" specific G5 I came there for, but instead keep spamming "Imperial Shielding". Which in imperial space is the "default" G5 material you get from High Grade Emissions USS when the system is not in any particular state.
So what is the deal here? Not only are these not spawning more often than in 2.4, (I could argue the rates are worse) I am also rarely getting the special G5 material I should be seeing if I am in a system under one of the special material conditions, such as the "Outbreak" system I am in as I type this.
I have been SCing around here for over an hour and have only managed to find (5) High Grade USS in that time. And only (1) of those contained the "Pharmaceutical Isolators" I specially came to this system to collect.
Shouldn't the special "State Based" G5 material at the very least least be guaranteed as the ONLY G5 mat that spawns? Considering how rare these HG USS remain in 3.02?
I think I can somewhat confirm what FDEV was saying about these being more likely to spawn when you are in a Shipping Lane. I have been taking the advice given earlier on traveling from say an Outpost or Starport directly to an inhabited/landable planet and vice versa and the HGE USS do appear to pop up more often than if you are in Deep Space.
Maybe give that a try and see if your luck improves. Since my last post I have nearly topped off my supply of PIs, but I stumbled on a system in Outbreak that has a planet with a good supply of Polonium, so I have been out with my SRV grabbing as much of that as I can get my hands on!![]()

Ahh, thank you! I had missed that memo, and have been deliberately avoiding shipping lanes, and hunting strictly in deep space. Will give this a go - thanks again, and good luck out there!
