Isn't it time for a new surface vehicle?

Id settle for the ability to engineer my SRV.
i tend to fly my SRV more than drive it along the ground.
An ability to engineer the Engines for more boost fuel would be nice.

Take one standard slf, any flavour...rip the guns out and stick a scanner in...eureka a new and interesting take on an already existing feature. Our ancient and primitive ancestors from the 20th and 21st century called this unusual practice 'retrofitting'

But... why? What would a new vehicle type do? FDev needs to add more surface gameplay first.

They also need to come up with a variety of interiors and vehicle functions: any new vehicle would have the same interior look and feel as the current SRV which has the very same look and feel of every ship cockpit.

I just want this upgrade to the existing SRV.

Flipping the wheels for Back to the Future style flight!

I'd love more variety but — just don't forget that any new vehicle, with current game mechanics and ship models, needs to fit through the cargo hatch.
In best case scenario it can also exit the fighter launch platform.

I've seen some pretty absurd suggestions in older threads like this, every since Horizons got released.
Just saying...this isn't exactly rocket science...

Recently I've been enjoying fighting Guardian Sentinels in tank-style combat, so I personally wouldn't mind a main battle tank (hover or threaded) :D , but that doesn't change the fact that ships only have two exits for vehicles.

Wait, did you take a look how does the SRV get out of the sidewinder?

Wasn't there a thread a few weeks back about FDev looking to hire someone with vehicle design experience? In which case if they find a suitable candidate we might be seeing some new vehicles in what, say, a year?

I mean Horizons has been out since what December 2015? And we are still driving the annoying Scarab. When are we going to have options for surface vehicles? We got plenty of ships so why not these?

Please for the love of all that's holy give us a skimmer we can pilot or something.

Absolutely!

Can you imagine how much better received such an improvement would have been received by the community over the lackluster crap we got instead during the 2.xx season?

Multi Crew or More SRV models?

Holo-Me or more SRV models?

Wow! That's a tough one... NOT! [wacky]

When I'm blasting guardians out of the sky I think to myself, who would win in a fight? An ancient high tech assault sentry with fancy plasma weapons and missiles to protect their holy shrines, or rovy buggy boi?

Would you guy freak out of the a SRV comes as paid content?

Y'know I've had that thought myself, that one of the paid content releases that's dropping this year is a collection of surface vehicles.

I get the feeling the forum would barely be able to contain the fire if this happened.

Me personally, I wouldn't care. I'd buy 'em.

I'd not mind if it is part of a new season. it was not announced as free content on beyond anyways. I'd pay as well.

The easiest solution for FDev is to just create variant s of the current SCRAB. Keep the basic design and dimensions but have them for specific roles:

  • Combat: Larger weapon, only room for two cargo canisters, more armour and shields, reduced speed
  • Exploration: Better scanner, ability to fly for short distances (make it dependent on fuel, flying uses fuel at a much higher rate)
  • Mining: Only one weapon (mining lance) but has the ability to extract deposits from the ground - not just random rocks. Scanner is specifically designed to find buried ore.
  • Haulage: Space for more canisters, slower, reduced range/weapons/armour/shields.

Simple and should be relatively easy for FD to do.

I'm hoping for oceanic planets and submersible SRV's. Exploring the depths of an alien ocean looking for life sounds fun. A heavily shielded hover SRV for volcanic planets sounds good too. Cruising around the magma flows looking for materials would look pretty sweet.
