Farming exploits?

ED has never had a well conceived progression path so there's a big wall people hit and then give up on the game.

Ideally the time it takes you to grind up a 10m ship with a 1m ship should be the same time it takes to grind up a 100m ship with a 10m ship, and then use the 100m ship to grind up a billion.

Its sad that so many people who got while the getting was good with previous opportunities try to pull up the ladder for new people.

I understand the allure of "i have something you dont have!" but you've gotta learn to think about more than just yourself.

Can't speak for others but here's how it seems to play out for me:

New version is released, I think "meh" then try it anyhow.
I warm up to it a bit and soon set a goal.
I set out to accomplish the goal.
Need to get X number of goods for engineer
Where to find goods
Go search the 3rd party software.. meaning I am not in the game
Find answer, go there and there's nothing. I try another and finally find it.
I don't have the ship I need to carry it (jump range too low so I use my Dbx to scout)
Find nearby system with large pad station
Go there and call my large ship
Large ship arrives 30+ minutes later
Only small cargo containers available at station
Need to go elsewhere to get cargo containers
I go back to 3rd party site to find nearby station with cargo containers
Go there, get containers and go back to get goods
By now I am tired of the grind and I log off feeling I am getting nowhere because the benefit I'll see isn't worth the effort.

When it works for me:
Someone says "hey there's a cash cow here"
I go there and build my rep with the factions
Do stuff to get paid
get paid
Do stuff again
repeat
log off feeling I have a viable game activity that pays off.

Neither of these does anything for me as far as my fleet is concerned, I have over 10b Cr. I just need something that makes me feel like I am doing something instead of trying to build up to do something that, when I get built up, I end up not really doing anyhow because it's either boring or just doesn't pay.

Pretty much!

I decided i would come back and give engineering a shot when they fixed all the with it and now with 3.0 they finally did so I came back and its p cool!

Doing anything you want ISN'T WORKING?

I mean seriously. I'm doing it and I'm not bored RIGHT NOW instead of all those weeks later after I have millions.

Millions over a course of weeks isnt gonna get me a vette or any of the high end ships i want, since weeks of play are like months due to my availiable play time, i resort to using the get rich quick schemes, now i have the money to do so.

Also, things people want to do differ from person to person. Me, i like to just do random stuff with friends, like rammimg a ship with a type 10 going 600m/s .

And there-in lies the rub.

Corvettes aren't really "high end" ships.

I have a Viper 3 maxed out fully A rated and it's a mean little thing. It too is a "high end" ship but with a full value of 3 million.

Sure it's not durable but it's highly agile enough and speedy enough to avoid most of the incoming fire. As long as I manage the number of opponents, I've chewed up High ranking "High end" Clippers, Condas, and any other "Big Ship" you can name.

My Viper 3 is clearly a "High End Performer" that if I engineered I could take it even higher.

So "High End" is a misnomer.

Now stating plainly that you want a Super Expensive Ship and then "High-End" it though the best modules. That makes more sense.

The Frigate Class ships are not end all, be all. The only difference is that you want them because you THINK they out perform everything else due to the high price tag.

I enjoy my Viper. It's a good backup ship for when things go sideways and I need to get back into the saddle after a disastrous attempt to pilot a Frigate ship which I have yet to get used to piloting.

It's the Wanting that makes you resort to Gold Rushes.

But a Frigate ship is like money. It's not going to bring you real happiness.

Happiness is a Viper III. I've experienced more of the game in a pleasurable manner with that ship.

I never said the big ships out preform other ships because theyre bigger, i used them as an example because of their price to buy and outfit, something along the lines of 500mil to a billion credits to outfit them.

You find happiness your viper? Good, I have had lots of fun in my fdl, conda, and my newly aquired chieftain. I find happiness in making things 'splode. Unlike you, i am used to piloting big ships like the conda, and i enjoy it.

You mentioned that the wanting makes me resort to gold rushes. You are correct, i am allowed to want things. I use the gold rushes to enable myself to get the things i want. To me, you seem to have a relaxed grind-free mentality while playing, which is fine but thats not me.

Lets just accept it. People needs billions to make sure they can keep playing for weeks, because they are so bad at this game that they keep losing corvettes against every other npc all the time and need to guarantee a constant rebuy stream. I'm ok with that.

Yes, and I'm keeping it to myself.

That's how ya do it.

Absolutely

Nerf repetition in general tbh.

Buff mission arcs. Buff story and lore based mission paths. I'd love to find myself doing a linear progressing story creating a sense of purpose, and ultimately earning something notable.

back on topic.. I find material and rep grinding to be least engaging and interesting chore in the game atm.

Perhaps Frontier should simply remove everything from Sidewinder up to FDL/Type 9 from the Game and just leave in 'Conda, Cutter and Corvette...
Make Anaconda the starter ship and then you can upgrade to a Corvette or Cutter in a few days (don't want people "Grinding" for too long) if they choose...
That way EVERYONE can have "fun" because its obviously only possible to enjoy the game in a Big 3 Ship...
Remove the rebuy requirement too...because the "fear" of the odd rebuy here and there forces people to do all kinds of dreadful, awful things like Combat, Trading and Exploration...instead of "playing" the game

Hello everyone. I know I will get hate for this but I am sick and tired of farming for hours and hours a day. It is very repetitive and boring for me. I was wondering has anyone discovered any new money exploits after the skimmer missions were banned.

Ah, the good old hate the grind so grind to avoid the grind. Never understood that one.

Two hours of boring repetition beats 50 hours of boring repetition. Not that hard to understand.

Nerf low skill repetitive gameplay layouts and buff high skill engaging gameplay.

Not that hard to fix either seems to me.

Or compare 2 hours of boring repetition with 2 hours of doing stuff you enjoy and not giving a fig about credits or rank, just enjoy the game.

Of course, i know the response to that, some people can't enjoy the game unless they are flying the big ships.... never understood that either. Its still the same game. Big ships just make the game easier.... too easy. All too often there comes the cry of how easy the NPCs are... when people are flying fully engineered Cutters and Corvettes. And of course the "FD should add bigger ships, i've got nothing to spend my 10 billion on". :p
