The ATR vessels that some governments dispatch against me are effective in deterring me from trying to destroy commanders whose ships have relatively high hit points or strong evasion skills and leave crime reporting on. Normally I'm one to entertain 1v1s that also involve a wing of cops pecking away at me at the same time. But fighting commanders flying engineered combat ships, plus the ATR at the same time, alone, seems infeasible (without resorting to very long, drawn-out hit-and-run battles, which is inefficient for effective overlording). But the ATR doesn't show up until 30-40 seconds after I attack a target. This means that I can still get away with destroying soft targets (Asps, Type-6, Type-7, trade-build Anacondas, etc.), if I do it quickly, with no interference from the ATR. When the ATR do arrive, they pose some difficulty compared to the old system security, but they are not exceptionally difficult to escape. But I do think the days of tanking 7 cops while PvPing a commander at the same time may be over, due to the ATR's much improved firepower.

The most trouble I had with the ATR was one time when I attacked a convoy dispersal of NPCs. The ATR showed up like lightning and practically one-shotted me. But I never saw them respond with such force and promptness to attacks on commanders.

The other factor about the new C&P system is the cost of bounties. It used to take ~166 commander kills in Eravate to get a bounty of one million. Now, at notoriety 10, one commander kill in my anaconda costs over 30 million. I am rich, but not *that* rich, and could I quickly go bankrupt if I don't change my tactics. So now my overlording ship of choice is the FDL (which reduces the bounty problem by a factor of ten but still allows for quick kills, and quick escapes), when overlording in high system security regions.

About time you dropped that conda, ganking ships of choice are the FAS , clipper and the FDL. The conda is too slow for proper combat and even semi capable victim will easily outfly you.

The most effective hits often are :)

It's not effective, I'm pretty much entirely unbothered about all this chest-puffing over a game be it PvP or PvE. My interest is just in people learning to play together without so much upset.

Attempting to land blows like that is going in the opposite direction. Remember you're just playing that kinda person in game, can't object to people judging you out of it if you act the same out of it.

Weren't you one of those saying people should have thicker skins..?

Well there we are - we've reached peak bullcrap.

It's terrifying but kinda clear some people do believe this sorta stuff - they could do with more than a child's understanding of Nietzsche's point. Clue words: balance and evaluation.
Your interpretation of what is "good" is utterly wrong, as are your ideas of what characteristics define both categories. You've twisted this into pure butter for PvPers - the circle-fun action continues

Nietzsche's acquaintence Gast is credited with challenging the philosophy of Thus Spake Zarathustra with the point that, without others to support them, the Ubermensch can't actually get much done. There's also a certain irony in adopting and promoting a pre-existing philosophy of self-actualization and self-direction, and seeing it reflected in oneself - having let another do the the thinking for you rather than arriving at it independently, as it were. I'm sure Nietzsche himself would have found some amusement in that. Prior to going completely bonkers, at least.

Seems fair, IMHO :)

Wow. What the heck with that last paragraph? Judgemental much? You have no real idea about me, rein it in.

I guess it's far from my taste in such things.

Somehow I am not surprised, do you know liotmichael from reddit, you guys should get to know each other.

I would recommend taking the context into consideration. The context being that you are on a game-forum, talking to another gamer who has adopted a delightfully silly persona in a humorous manner.

Yeah I know sleutel - but I reckon it's partially believed.

Weren't you one of those saying people should have thicker skins..?

This is no way means I cannot point out when someone's unwarranted jabs are unhelpful does it. Am I screaming upset and demanding retribution? Nope.

Cheers for that. (Evil Santa)

In two minds about it, like I love that you've been shifted down to an FdL, it'd be cool if there was enough pressure to shift you down a wee bit more but I'm not sure upping the credit penalties would be a good thing.

The ATR stuff though, like on the face of it is seems decent, ATR is a good idea and I mean aye you should be able to attack CMDRs and have a window. As in they should not totally dissuade player attacks, just hinder and eventually prevent in high-sec.

But the problem is you end up targeting the easy kills since you can get those in time, which almost seems counter to what the C+P system is trying to achieve.
