New crime and punishment system sucks.

So I left my game running in the background for 3.5 hours with my hot ship sitting in the dock at an anarchy system. My notoriety still reads as 1. Do you you have to be actively flying your tub of shame to get your notoriety to drop? I've logged in and out after my idle time and no change.

I guess I could leave the station and go back in?
Edit: i was wrong

FD said it decays as normal on the pad, but you have to go to SC to see the effect. Go fly around for a few and see if it works.

I believe that docked time does not count towards notoriety cooldown time. ;)

You gotta be careful. Our dreaded Kiss On Sight list is no joke. We will absolutely smother you in them!

It's the "Bro Hug While Copping a Feel" list that I'm more worried about.

*I just made that up. I like bro hugs and I'm not afraid of a little touching as long as it's playful*

Yeah, I mean, we can all hug and kiss at the same time... if you guys are down, you know?

I think those are supposed to come with a certain caveat!

And no tongue. My wife is a prude and wouldn't approve. Sorry.

Jason,

I also personally think that "3.0 provides some legit PvP gameplay to the game" (although apparently they killed it in 3.0.3??).
They just need to adjust what qualifies for a bounty.

As to why I posted here, you seemed annoyed / surprised by reactions you've got from a few of my friends.
You said: "If people can't even kill wanted CMDR's without getting hit with the griefer stick there really is no hope"
So, it's not about "my guys or my feelings". Your feelings triggered my response ;)

The conversation you had with Vin in GCI suggests that "killing wanted cmdrs", i.e. Bounty Hunting, wasn't the prime motivation as I skillfully highlighted with paint.

Personally, I wouldn't go after lower than a few k of credits but to each its own.
Look, all I'm saying is that if you are really into bounty hunting, go hunt the big game as well.

There were quite a few cmdr with significant bounties at the CG during the weekend:

  • Xumepbl4 (Imperial Cutter) wanted for 28m.
  • iBlacklight (Python) wanted for 31m.
  • Hellz (Alliance Chieftain) wanted for 17m.
  • Rinzler o7o7o7 (Vulture) wanted for 504k.
  • Majungatholus (Asp Explorer) wanted for 885k.

A video where someone takes down, or even tries to take down, a skilled outlaw is far more interesting than one where PvErs are being squashed by the dozen.
I challenge you to do that. Unless, you have a different intent than what bounty hunting is actually about, which is fine but no need to masquerade it.

I completely agree with you that those guys should be on the table. The funny part is that if by some stroke of fortune I actually managed to kill rinzler he would give me a high five and congratulate me for "getting gud."

I have no idea why you think our gameplay is so limited; I've told Vin numerous times in public, for instance, that if i caught him pirating I would do my best to send his unlawful rear end to the rebuy center. I think you and your friends take things that happen in the game (and probably the forum to) way too seriously.

Edit: just read the last line in your post, and I see that your concern, as was arguendos, was the impression of hypocrisy. Please allow me to clear that up once and for all right here in the open for all to see: on top of putting my ship up against top PvPers on a daily basis who can and do gleefully destroy me, I ALSO think the fact that the new c&p system which gives the very people who cried the loudest for its inclusion the biggest reason to fall under the guns of the very players that they had hoped to run out of the game to be priceless. PRICELESS LEKENO AND COMPANY, DO YOU HEAR ME? PRICELESS! Being given sanction to destroy CMDR's for parking tickets obtained on the opposite side of the Galaxy is one of the best things ever, if not THE best. It's for sure the funniest.

Okay dokey, I hope that clears up any future claims of hypocrisy:)

Anyway, looking forward to what comes out :)

Well, this is just proof that while you can please all of the people some of the time, and even some of the people ALL the time, you just can't please all the people all the time.

Now come over here you passive aggressive little stud muffin and let's hug it out!

Nah. That was a different instance on my part. I've explained to you elsewhere what the issue was here. It wasn't hypocrisy...this time ;)

Just a quick note. Are they the very people? Or are they just random players, going about their business, never having even heard of these forums?
Did you see the "use one word to describe Elite" thread? Mine was "Divided". I wish it wasn't.

38 million bounty seems reasonable for 8 murders. :) What makes you think you should profit at all from murder? Surely your enjoyment is in the activity itself?

Piracy on the other hand... Yes, you could argue for more incentive there.

I agree with this. I really feel that Anarchy systems should be paying much higher prices for pretty much everything in general (why would anyone go there if there is no profit?), piracy, too, should have some sort of mechanic that allows for profit, but I suspect it would need to work via missions for pirate factions - eg:

"Hey yo, we needs Stuff™, go pirate it from people in whatvz systemz, we'll give you 4m credz and boatloads a' repz! Oh yeahz, victim destruction means mission failz, and we fine you heaps!!!"

Basically, the mission would require that minimal damage is done to the piracy victim, successfully pirating the required goodies would result in a proper payout.

Weapons/modules that specifically help pirates would be handy. A mass lock module, this basically (depending on the module size) allows you Cobra MKIII to behave like an Anaconda in terms of mass lock. Thus, you can pirate a T7 and it won't just jump away. There would need to be some form of balance to prevent ganking, of course, but basically, a fun way for a player to pirate a ship, and a fun way for a potential piracy victim to try and counter it.

Yeah yeah, solo and private groups, those folk that enjoy that play style can keep on enjoying it, for those that like the extra risk of playing in open, this could add a bit of reward in the way of fun.

Z...

Devs asked if they should implement crime system like this long time ago.

I understood it was clear for all including devs that they kill PvP at the same time. The only PvP content they have been able to implement is grief. They should not have done a system like this.

This was said long time ago and I know devs understood the fact as they replied. Now this is in the game?

Smells like Elite Carebears.

I understood it was clear that it makes no sense to implement S like this if you don't have any content to support it. Now they basically F*ed it up. They should have implemented strong support for criminal playstyle + good PvP content. Now we have simply fail. GJ

Thats funny, because my one word was "fragile."

This reminds me of the part in Unforgiven where the sheriff played by Gene Hackman shouts at Will Munny played by Clint Eastwood "You villain! You just shot an unarmed man!" Will Munny had just put one barrel of a double barrel shotgun into the bartender at point blank range with predictable results.

Will turns the gun on the sheriff and calmly says "He should have armed himself if he was gonna decorate his establishment with my friend."

So 2+ hours of pad time did not erase my notoriety, even after sc and hiwake. I'm going to just be floating around ready to be killed I guess. It's kind of fun looking over my shoulder. Yes I'm in open. No you are not my friend.

You killed pvp dead, I play on ps4 only killed 8 players and have 38 million bounty on my head, waiting in anarcy systems for pvp is stupid No one wants to fight so I go make them but I have to pay for it if i die and with what credits you nerf credits all the time, fun is dying in this game. Yeah it's good a player can kill Me and make bank but what about me with all the salt and combat logging I have to put up with where's my payout?.

I sometimes wish there was a disapproval button as well as a rep button...
